I can guarantee that whichever Amira video you had selected, you would have been blown away. This concert was in 2017. Amira was 13, and had already sung two opera arias, Nessun Dorma, and the Flower Duet by Delibes, with Corlea Botha. Both vids are available to view. She started her tv singing career on Holland's got talent, age 9. She was self taught up to that point, but blew everyone away. Is it a spoiler to say she won the competition? Following that show she started to receive coaching, which polished her natural abilities. There are a couple of video's where the camera turns away to get audience reaction at the wrong moment, but there are also the shots that linger, you can see it appears effortless. A bit of background: Amira was born in Holland - her mother was South African. You can get her full background in Wikipedia, but here a few details that it won't give you: This performance was at the second annual "Classics is Groot" (Classics are great) concert held by Coleske Artists in July, 2017, at the Moreleta Park auditorium at Montecasino, which is an entertainment centre in the South African Capital, Pretoria - It seats about 7500. The whole concert had 31 items, of which "Amazing Grace" was the 19th. She also sang "Nessun Dorma" - which Pavarotti made famous - as item #14, and the Flower Duet from the French opera "Lakme" with the South African singer Corlea Botha as item # 15. Both these are on the internet, as is the finale of the concert, "My WAy" sung by all the principal singers including Amira. It was put on DVD - SA is Region 2. The DVD is no longer available, but Coleske has been putting some performance out in enhanced resolution on You Tube in the last month or so. Amira had signed a three-year contract with Coleske Artists early in 2017, after her contract with SONY Masterworks had run out - three years is the maximum duration of a contract with a minor in both The Netherlands and South Africa. She had migrated to South Africa with her mother and her elder Brother in January 2018, and now has dual citizenship. Her contract Coleske ran out in February 2020, but of course Covid 19 was just getting going then, so she took no further contracts, but experimented with "Streaming concerts" in conjunction with the Atterbury theatre in Pretoria, under her own "Gelukskinders" label - As you will discover, half her earnings go to her Charity foundation "Gelukskinders" - which she launched in The Netherlands when she was 10; it funds the construction and maintenance for 10 years of school playgrounds in South Africa.

Look up her version of Ave Maria Gomez, she was just 11 years old and although a fancam video you get to see her mouth and neck doing the high powerful notes. Also a beautiful song and a performance on just some lausy PA equipment you still can hear her perfect voice.

Do yourself a huge favor and research her as a person. She is one of the most remarkably beautiful people I have ever come across. She is very strong in her Christian faith and doesn't just talk the talk but, walks the walk. She is a very caring, giving and humble person that has so much God given talent that it can't help but blow your mind. In her short (now 20 year) life the Pope named her Humanitarian of the Year, the Opera world has named her Soprano of the Year and she made the Olympic team as a middle distance runner for the 2020 Olympics (not there due to the covid lockdowns). This is a rabbit hole you won't regret going into.

Great reaction, Bob! Right from the start, with the bagpipe band parading, the huge stage, the full orchestra, the full choir taking their places, the clothes, the pomp and circumstance, you can already tell that a queen is about to perform. Amira only 13, but already a shining queen. She stands out from the other sopranos because she always uses her natural, authentic voice, rather than the artificial, stilted voice that sopranos are taught in conservatories.

Amira is just a world of her own.. She is so calm and so still in her presence onstage.. It was there at her audition and her other HGT performances which is not what one expects from a nine year old... I honestly don't know any other young singer who so inhabits her performances that nothing around her throws her out of it... She said as a child that singing is like walking to her and that when she sang she no longer felt like a child... And I think we see that ourselves in her performances... As well as how she obviously perfects every song in detail before she performs it.. she is extremely professional.

Amira was thirteen when she performed this and Nessum Dorma and Flower duet with Corlea Botha , She moved to South Africa in 2018. She is presently attending university in Pretoria and is twenty.. Why bagpipes it was written by and Englishman as a peom for his congregation after finding God in a storm at sea. You have many videos of Amira to catch up on. You should start with her winning Hollands got Talent age nine when she hadn't had any training but taught herself by watching opera videos on Tube.

You have just discovered the most beloved soprano of all time and Amira is still only 20 years old, studying her bachelor of Music (classical) and conducting at university in South Africa (where she now lives)! Bob, she describes much of her backstory in her audtion for Holland's Got Talent at age 10, I believe, in her converations with the judges. She then sings the Opera O Mio Babbino Caro in near perfection. Then a year later she did an enore at Andre Reiu's annual concert at Maastricht. Another Charlotte Church, Jackie Evancho, Angelina Jordan type. She will blow your 70s mind.

G’day Mate. To start with. You nailed the pronunciation of her name. So many people (rightfully) react to her, that I created a suggested generic playlist, so just skip any you’ve seen already. She only had the 3 performances, in Hollands Got Talent, and I have never seen anyone improve so much from performance to the next. If you think the first one is good (and you can’t help but will believe it is), then just wait and see the joyful series of surprises that are in store for you for her next two appearances. Honestly... She had that effortlessness at age 9 when from since age 7 when she taught herself to sing opera arias and auditioned for Holland's got Talent aged 9 in 2013. She went on to win it that year with a powerful performance of Nessun Dorma. After that she did have a singing teacher... but most of what we hear today is merely her work on what she already had effortlessly in performance aged 9. Quite astonishing to watch that audition ...

She is very talented. I also like Amazing Grace for funerals. A friend of mind died a couple years ago. The National Guard played Amazing Grace at his funeral. Very good. She is 13 in this video. Also there is a Dutch girl, Emma Kok. She is 15 and sing Viola. She sings in French, also very good.

This hymn expresses the faith of John Newton, which Amira would also claim for herself. Please do Phantom of the Opera (2023 video). This is the most dramatic I've heard, and if you like Amira's high notes you'll certainly like the ending in this. Amira also sang her most beautiful Nessun Dorma at this concert, and also the Flower Duet with Corlea Botha. Congratulations for discovering Amira, my favorite singer, and thank you for this great reaction! Now you have a lot of catching up to do, from 2013 when Amira won Holland's Got Talent at the age of 9 until today. She was born in the Netherlands on March 27, 2004 and emigrated to South Africa in January 2018. Today she is studying BMus (Bachelor of Music) at the University of Pretoria and is performing on a regular basis. In my view, her voice is one of the most beautiful soprano voices in the world. If I tell you that I just saw pure unadulterated pleasure on your face does that tell how I much I enjoyed your reaction? Amira is of the very highest calibre of lyric soprano performing anywhere in the world today! That is a huge statement I know but by the time this young lady reaches her prime I doubt she will have many if any, real competitors... Amira is only around twenty as I write this and has been a world-reknowned performer since the age of nine and so she is rightly a veteran at twenty! I have to tell you that is much more to this young lady apart from her prodigious musical talent and you will not regret it if you spend a lot of time researching her life in some detail! As for recommendations on what to listen to next all I can say is that everything I have heard from her is world-class jaw-dropping stuff! Honestly Amira defies the most comprehensive thesaurus when it comes to trying to find adjectives to describe her... I would simply say that she is in a class of her own... Amira has hundreds of millions of people all around the globe who love her and they love her like she is family... A true phenomenon of our times!
