some old tv comedies don't age well, and when you watch them 20 or more years later you might even wonder why you ever found them funny. but the Golden Girls stands up VERY well, and is just as funny now as it ever was, maybe even funnier than some of today's sitcoms

Bea Arthur is most iconic as Maude Findlay in the sitcom Maude. Check it out. She goes toe-to-toe with her cousin-in-law - Archie Bunker. Rue McClanahan (Blanche) played her ditzy neighbor. Betty White, on the Mary Tyler Moore Show was a combination of Blanche and Dorothy, a similar character to that she played on Hot in Cleveland.

I may be late in saying this, but I'm glad to see more people, especially guys, react to clips of this amazing show. I remember watching a few episodes with my grandmother (God rest her soul) when I went to visit her when there was reruns😊. Of course, once you're old enough, you finally understand all of the jokes and appreciate them fully. Now, I watch at least 10 episodes a season every single day because to me, this is the best tv show ever made. It shows four women in their golden years, not only living active lives, but also sexually active lives on top of that. It showed that you're never too old to have great sex and romance too. And of course, they also did something that modern tv would never have the balls to do. They would call each other sluts, fat, etc. Nowadays, most tv shows portray older ladies as sweet grandmothers who never have any fun. And today, they would never let women insult each other the way these women brilliantly did. Even though some of the jokes are not relevant anymore (since there were many references to people and current events of that time), most of the jokes still hold up so well even to this day. Personally, if a guy was willing to make a date with me consisting of a comfy night in with cheesecake, wine, and The Golden Girls, I'd be a happy woman 😊😂! I hope that you react to more Golden Girls and eventually do a reaction to a full episode one day. I really enjoy your reactions so keep it up! 👍If you read my extremely long comment, thank you! - Melissa 😊

One of my favourite parts is when they are in the kitchen and Blanche is talking about having a baby...the other three genuinely crack up when they reply to her. It's almost as if Betty White (Rose) breaks character for a few seconds. At the 7.45 mark

The Golden Girls are, hilarious and ruthless!!! I love it!!! It's sad that there aren't shows like this out there anymore. The writing was amazing and the ladies hit those lines perfectly. My mom loved the Golden Girls. I can't tell you how many times we would sit and watch this show Some other great shows you could check out would be like something with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Definitely some Taxi, that show was hilarious. There are just so many great shows out there.

I highly recommend watching any all information you can on the Golden Girls. The show ran from 1985 to 1992. It broke records and changed television. Bea Arthur (Dorothy), Betty White (Rose) and Rue McClanahan (Blanche) were all seasoned actresses, who actually had worked on several shows together long before Golden Girls. Estelle Getty (Sophia) was a stage actress but Golden girls was her first real break. Estelle was also the youngest of the cast members and Betty White is the oldest. Betty is also the last living member from the show and will be celebrating her 98th birthday in January. I must admit I was shocked that you didnt know who she was. She's not only a national treasure, but a world wide one also. Another show that will have you laughing is Designing Women. 4 sassy, but classy, witty southern women.

The great thing about the Golden Girls series is that the humor stays the same and upbeat throughout the whole series. Quite a bit of tv shows loose their momentum these days and change the humor the older they get but golden girls is one of those that stays the same and that’s pretty amazing.

Betty White stared in Hot in Cleveland for six seasons from 2010-2015 twenty-five years after the Golden Girls premiered. She also died at 99. Dorothy had starred in Maude from 1972-1978, a spin-off of All in the Family where she played Edith Bunker’s first cousin. Just like the Jeffersons was a spin-off of All in the Family (The Jeffersons were the Bunker’s neighbors), Good Times was a spin-off of Maude, with Florida Evans originally being Maude’s maid. Rue McClanahan (Blanche) starred alongside Bea Arthur on “Maude” as Vivian, Maude’s best friend. After the Mary Tyler Moore show (1970-1977), Betty White and Rue McClanahan costarred in Mama’s Family, a spin-off of the Carol Burnett Show.

Sophia was just supposed to be in one episode, but she was so hilarious they wrote her character into the show. I never fail to watch them. In my area they are on every Sunday from 6am to 3pm. No matter how many times I've seen the shows I never get tired of them. Golden Girls are kind of like a worn but very comfy pair of slippers. They have especially helped me during the lockdown.

Seasons Greatings to u & Family. I'm a SUB & enjoy ur content but it warmed my heart tonight when I saw u reviewed my all time favorite show "The Golden Girls". I've been a fan since the late 80's when it came out. I found comfort in them bc my own Grandmother & her sisters were Hilarious just like the GGs are. I have the box set and it comes full of 7 seasons. Bea Arthur (Dorothy) left in the last seasons finale. She was on a Hilarious sitcom called "Maude" in the 70's so she had 2 great shows that earned her Emmys & Golden Globes. She was the 3rd 1 to pass away. Estelle Getty (Sofia-Dorothy's Mama) was a well known Broadway actor & a HUGE early activist when the Aids epidemic hit hard in the early 80's. She even helped write that episode where Rose needed an Aids test after surgery due to a blood transfusion, Brilliant how they tackled EVERY major societal problem w/ educating but w/ humor. Estelle actually was the youngest of the women in real life but unfortunately she Developed Dementia & was first GG to pass away. Rue Mcclanahan (Blanche Devaroux) was a trained dancer w/ a studio then got some great rolls on some of TV'S greatest 70s to 90s sitcoms & even was had a reoccurring part on "Maude" w/ Bea (Dorthy). Finally Betty White (Rose Nylund) is in her 90's and is still acting in movies & TV shows. She had be a constant staple in comedy radio, TVs weren't made for the masses yet, lol when it did she had her own comedy sitcom & was a member of Bob Hope's USO tours to entertain our troops. When I am..not feeling well or sad, I pop in my DVD set or KZbin search Golden Girls playlist& it makes me feel like I'm w/Grandmother having a blast. Thank you for.bringing a smile & warmness to my Spirit while experiencing the Hilarious clips.some1 sent u. 💞🙏🏼☃️⛄⛄⛄⛄☺️😂😂😂😂💞

You should check out "Cheers". It is universally considered one of the greatest sitcoms in the history of television. It is different from Married With Children and The Golden Girls, type of humor. The humor is more story and character driven and far more developed in each episode. So, if you're not already familiar with the Cheers characters, the KZbin videos, depending on sheer luck, might/might not impress you right off. I just don't know. But the humor is not usually so shallow or vicious. Not so much driven by one-liners. But story driven, and with a huge ensemble cast. It's set in a Boston bar (primarily), and there's no possibility that I can give it any kind of justice by describing it to you. I'd just make it sound boring. Which I can assure you, is the opposite of what Cheers is.

I watched "The Golden Girls" ever since they debut in the middle 1980s. Betty White, who played Rose, also played a great character, Sue Ann Nivens-The Happy Homemaker TV host, on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" from the 1970s. That show lasted seven seasons, and it had the funniest cast. The best episode I liked the most is called "Chuckles Bites the Dust," where their TV network lost their children's TV show host, Chuckles the Clown, from a tragic accident when he was the Grand Marshall for a parade, which was never shown. He was dressed as one of his kid show's characters as Peter the Peanut, and a rogue elephant in the parade thought he was real and tried to eat him. Everyone kept making jokes and laughing about his death throughout the episode except for Mary Tyler Moore as Mary Richards until toward the very end of the episode during Chuckles' funeral service. It has been rated the top episode ever written for a comedy, and it received an Emmy Award for best writing. There are so many iconic TV comedy shows, and "The Golden Girls" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" were the two of the best shows ever written and acted. You can find that episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" here on KZbin by searching for it. Here's the link to it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqCQqaWfpJZ4iaM

I have some episodes you may really like. Some of these jokes might be on them. 1) Pope's Ring 2) the episode where Dorthy's brother doed. 3) THE ONE WHERE BLANCHE AND SOPHIA FIGHT OVER THE SAME MAN. SOPHIA CALLS BLANCHE A 40 YEAR'S OLD MATRESS. CRACKS ME UP EVERYTIME. 4) WHERE DORTHY MUST SPEND THE NIGHT WITH HER EX-HUSBAND AT A ROACH FILLED APARTMENT. OR ANY WITH SOPHIA AND DORTHY OR DORTHY AND STAN HER EX-HUSBAND. 5) EPISODE WHERE DORTHY WANTS TO SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH SOPHIA TJAT SHE CAN 6) THE SCULPURE ONE MABEY CALLED THE ARTIST. 7) GAY BROTHER OF BLANCHE'S. THERE ARE 2 OF THEM. 8) EPISODE THE 3 GET PUT IN JAIL BECAUSE OF PROSTITUTION. 9) THE ONE THE GIRLS GO ON VACATION AND GET SHIPPEDWRECKED. 10) THE CHRISTMAS ONES ARE GREAT! 11). THE FLU ONE IS FUNNY 12) THE BOWLING EPISODE. 13) THE ONE WHERE THEY GO TO A NUDIST CAMP.14) THE ONE WHERE DORTHY HELPS A MAN WHO LIVED HIS WHOLE LIFE IN AN APARTMENT. 15) DORTHY IS LIKED ATVTHE CLUB THAT BLANCHE ALWAYS GOES TO AMD BLANCHE IS JEALOUS. You should watch Perfect Strangers. It is different bit ot will make you laugh. There is another episode whe Rose is awarded an award in the town she is from and goes to pick itbup. Perfect Strangers is not about bickering but it is extremely funny in another way, liike who' the Boss. Or Roseanne.much Full house. Even Small Wonder and A.l.f. you might also like growing pains. But besides Roseanne the rest of these shows were not as pushing the envelope. Grace under Fire. Or Malcolm in the Middle. Or the Middle. Those were my favorite shows along with Golden Girls. And Mama's Family.

We had many great sitcoms in the 70’s & 80’s. Here are a few I think you would like. Have you checked out “The Jefferson’s”? The spinoff show from “All in the family” “Taxi” many of the actors got their start on the show about a cab co. and went on to become stars. Including Danny DeVito. “WKRP” hilarious 70’s show about a radio station in Cincinnati. “Coach” about a college football coach. Jerry VanDyke(Dicks brother) plays the Asst. Coach. “Sanford and Son” starring the comedian Redd Fox. He plays a widowed junk dealer and his grown son lives with him. Thanks for doing the sitcom reactions. Really entertaining.

I think another show you might like is Designing Women. They're kind of a younger, southern version of the Golden Girls (a lot of back and forth wit, sarcasm, commentary, funny characters). The writer for Designing Women also wrote for M*A*S*H (which is probably one of the most brilliantly written shows in television history - - that's another recommendation). Designing Women stars Dixie Carter, Delta Burke, Jean Smart, Annie Potts and Mesach Taylor, with frequent appearances by Alice Ghostley. Totally recommend. Also, I posted this link on another reaction of yours. This may be the funniest moment in the whole Golden Girls series (at least it's in the top 10). Betty White went on to do a show where old people pull pranks on younger folks. It was called " Off Their Rockers " . It was around 2011 maybe 2012 when it aired.

Golden Girls, Frasier and I Love Lucy are my all time favorites. Missing them right now due to Hallmark only showing Xmas movies. Definitely should purchase all 7 seasons!

Part of what makes the Golden Girls so good is it is a complete show. It's not just these funny, often savage moments. Granted, all these moments are amazing and hilarious. But it tackled topics of the time (most of which are still very relevant today) that many other shows just wouldn't touch. AIDS, Menopause, Women's Rights, Gay Rights, Ageism, Sexism, Racism, Immigration, Debt, Gambling Physical Abuse, Emotional Abuse, Drug Addiction, Elderly Abuse (at nursing homes and assisted living facilities), Homelessness, Poverty, Educational Dysfunction, Alzheimer's Disease (and other diseases that cause Dementia), Cancer, Heart Attacks, Natural Death, Politics, and the list goes on and on. While most shows of the day would gladly feature a handful of these, only the Golden Girls really tackled everything. And while many of the subjects were extremely on the nose, it only served to make sure everyone knew exactly where the ladies stood. Add in some of the jokes we've seen in these clips and others not here, and you've got one of the greatest shows of all time. Part of what helped them is their age; there are interviews with the main cast and show runners where they discuss they were able to get away with so many of these jokes at a time when other shows couldn't because of the age of the characters and the supposed targeted audience. It's nice to see the show is such a hit with people from younger generations, which makes sense given the shows progressive stance on many of the topics that are big today. Sometimes shows like this get lost in the shuffle from generation to generation, but it's great to see that isn't the case with this amazing show!

Their timing and expressions. Eventually I want to watch Maude. Apparently Bea and Rue were on it. That lead to getting them on the Golden Girls. So your favorite?

I'm a newcomer to your channel and saw how much you were enjoying the Golden girls. And if you really like that you would have liked the show that came after the Golden girls when Dorothy left. The spin-off show was "The Golden Palace."if you haven't you may want to look at that one because that one was very entertaining as well.

Bea Arthur, who plays Dorothy, was in the Marines as a young woman. Here's a link doyouremember.com/38575/golden-girl-bea-arthur-truck-driving-marine. Another great sitcom to check out is Cheers. Growing up in the Boston area, it was my favorite as a kid!

I reckon you would like an old aussie series called Mother And Son. With Gary McDonald and Ruth Cracknell. It is hilarious and revolves around the son caring for his mother suffering from dementia and the trials and tribulations that go with it. Check out the episode called The Funeral.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHyxg6ihi8iXpZo Ty, you need to also check out Betty White in Hot in Cleveland. She starred in this with Valerie Bertinelli and Jane Leeves (from Frasier). She played Elka, a fiesty old woman and the owner of the house that she and other ladies live in. She has some of the best lines and comebacks. Some super funny stuff.

I know this was a year ago, so if you haven't bought the series yet, you really should invest in them. They have behind the scenes and you get to watch the show in it entirety. Hulu and TV cuts parts out of the show. Betty White (Rose) is the only one left. ❤

I still watch my favorite reactions you do. I saw this already but I like the laughs. I have a sick elderly mother. Non covid. We are in Florida. Covid free. No jabs. It’s a very different world than when I first found you 2 years ago. 🙏🏻

if you like golden girls you might try to watch hot in cleveland. betty white's on that and it's like a golden girls reboot in spirit. four women living in a house together. only betty white's character in that is more like sophia, more meaner than her rose character on golden girl.s

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the woman that played Sophia (oldest character on the show) was actually the youngest in real life.
