Happy to say I purchased a manual and have been enjoying from day 1. I'm 6'1", snug but good. I do have the recaro seat's. The look and the torque is what sold me. And in my opinion it's a Miata with an Armani suit.

Love you video and your attitude about this car. Bottom line is that it is FUN! I had a 1980 Spider 2000 and I bought my 2020 Abarth Spider this year. It is a MUCH better machine overall, but then again, nearly all cars have gotten SO MUCH BETTER in the past 40 years! I too have the Monza Record exhaust and it is farty good fun! This car begs to be driven spiritedly and goads you into cornering way too fast, even when you don't need to do it! (Roundabouts become impromptu test tracks for lateral G forces and adhesion!) Vic number plate - go drive thru the tunnels around docklands near Marvel stadium ! I got the manual version. Everyone always looks at you driving it & asking about it. I also have it in the 70’s model..

And.. the transmission does not explode as happens on the Miata ND. The 124 uses the transmission from the Miata NC which is a MUCH stronger 6 speed than the cost reduction_ed and fragile 6 speed used in the Miata ND.

I love my Abarth Spider. The looks, sound and mid range torque made it the car for me over the MX-5. I do like the MX-5, and had the Fiat not been available, I would have purchased a MX-5. By the way, The North American spec ND Club does come with a LSD.

They still make them... look in Amazon under iJDMTOY paddle extension for Miatas. I have similar ones on my Abarth spider and love them.

That Multiair 1.4 doesn't hold a candle to the MX-5 ND2 2.0 NA motor. It's not built to be wrung out and nowhere near as reliable. You can redline the ND2 motor all day long without worry. I have a 17' 500 Abarth and have already had several expensive repairs, like turbo replacement, water pump replacement so I know the motor.

I have had a 2017 124 Spider for three years and not had any problems whatsoever. The only thing I've had is since I had an oil change last month the engine ticks slightly. Think the garage used the wrong oil.
