My first reaction was that this is absolute madness, but then it occurred to me that without people who are willing to push the envelope to the extreme, vehicle manufacturers for offroad and military end-use would miss out on vital test data that in turn can inspire future automotive design innovations.

Have no Video of this, but i saw in the Everglades once on Jeep he was doing stuff like that, was pretty amazing what they can with the snorkel and the Exaustpipe....His Electronics was completly flooded an we saw hin on I-95 later that day going about 55 no Problems at all...Old Jeeps never dieeee

I rolled up the window to keep that icy cold water from pouring all over my crotch. Later I opened the door once the interior water level was below my shriveled boys, so I could see where I was going. Just good cheap fun. If you think this video stupid, then you are obviously a much superior person than the rest of us. You should not waste your time with our videos. Go work on that Nobel peace prize or a cure for cancer.

@probablywizards7 жыл бұрын
dialectic grease on the electrical connections can prevent damage from water, as long as everything is air/water tight. i used to take road closed signs as "jeep challenge" roads until one day it was super dark, on a wooded, dark road normally, and then my headlights got dim/dark and i realised i was up to my doors on a flooded road in a completely stock jeep, i knew the road had ditches on either side and the back end lifted up now and then but i was able to keep moving forward in 4wd, i guess the weight of the motor kept the wheels in enough contact with the road to not wash me into the trees/ditch, made it through, it never stopped, never had any electrical issues, jeeps are beasts

Actually it's the exhaust pipe ahead of where i attached my extension. Water seeps in and then presto, lots of steam out the hot exhaust. The snorkel is fully sealed, but the distributor is so low on the block, that I can't keep it completely dry, when I submerge. Tried just about everything short of trying to boot the entire unit. Lot.s of silicone

That's too bad it ended up at pull n save. The kid I sold it too said he was going to take it to a mudding event up north. It was still a great rig. just needed some ignition work from all the flooding. Guess I should have just given it to the neighbor kids. I used copious amounts of silicone to seal up everything. Relocated electronics to as high as possible. One weekend of free stuff and used parts to turn the $350 jeep into a pond crosser. Water ultimately killed the spark after many underwater runs. I was bored, and it was something to do. Lost interest as I have way to many projects. It sat for a year , so I sold it. I would not do this to a good jeep.
@swisstraeng9 жыл бұрын
you sealed up everything? the motor was dry after going in the water? and I don't know where were the electronics, but they seem to stay dry in that video. that jeep is, well... bye bye.

Dude. I spent $12 on a flexible sexer line, bought and $16 airfilter that fit over the hose almost perfect. Standard at walmart. Used a holled out plastic cup to connect the two for airtight fit and mounting. Then covered it with a used plastic planter to keep mud and splashing water off the paper filter. Some silicone and e tape. A couple dryer clamps and you have a cheap same day snorkel. Still need to seal and extend all other vents, lines, tanks, trans, diffs, ect.

When you let it fill completely up, and the engine is 100% submerged, power immediately drops and you are on a countdown clock. Stalled out on me plenty of times in the middle. Notice the tow chains are already hooked up. Would have to unhook the alt and water pump to get any less drag. I think the cold water quenching the engine also has an effect.
