In this here video I tear into my brand new harbor freight bending brake. Nothing too complicated but I haven't made a video in awhile so I figured you guys deserve one. You're welcome. Really all we got here is some tig welding, rushed and poorly done fabrication, and that's about the jist of it. If you enjoy the stuff consider subscribing, I appreciate it.

I bought mine with the intention of modifying it to do a pretty large (IMO since its my first one trying something like this) fab job for my truck.......only to find out the welder I've been using off and on decided to die on me. So now a fab job has been put on hold until I get a new one. If anyone is interested. I'm making custom Off-Road Light Bar mounts. I got the lights and wire harness for free from a co-worker who was VERY happy to get rid of them because they were taking room up in his shop. The mounts are going to be bolted to the sub frame where the bumper is mounted. Yes, I know but the toeing hooks I can get are mounted in the same area so its fine.

I have that model and made some similar changes. Instead of welding on that hold down, I just drilled some holes in the end of the bar and put two bolts though though to a welded on bold below. It simply tightens with a Phillips screw driver. It's much simpler but isn't self raising. I also welded a bar on the bottom so my vise holds it which works real slick and only takes seconds. I also had to reinforce the hold down bar as it had a tendency to bend with just two bolts at the end.

I'm a toolmaker/moldmaker and I will tell you our shop rate is $100 an hour but I don't pay for my own labor. Lol none the less I cannot get the materials to make this so I'm going to buy one. I will definitely modify it but 69 bucks is hard to beat. Thanks for sharing bud. God bless.

Thanks for the ideas BUT even more for knowing how to use music in a video. Maybe you could do a workshop for the 97% of KZbin channels that aren't smart enough to figure that out. That's my two cents THANKS AGAIN!

I've never seen someone PULL a sheet metal brake before. Always lifted. I might spin mine around and try that!! Thanks for the content.

Nice mods...I have the same unit for like 10 years. Still need to put a clamp in the middle cause it bows when you make a bend and the the bend is pretty round towards the middle without one.

How would you put a clamp in the middle ? Say you have a 20" long piece of steel 30" wide and you bed it in half? You could only add middle clamp if bending area is less than "clamping bar" width.

@@TheJsaffle Just been using it for small enough pieces of metal to where I can still get a couple of clamps to keep that plate in place. Usually for windshield channels and items like that. Know what I mean?

Totally agree! At least he is using a tripod for some of the footage. Hard to watch the freehand footage of someone who talks with their hands. Lol
