Faye, the machine washer behind the center plug was centered - perfectly. Loved that fillet around the AN fitting and leak testing with solvent rather than a thin oil. Some good lessons. Thanks Faye and Danny.

You can use a sack of chalk to also help locate small cracks like that. Like using a pounce pad for lettering when painting. Cover the edge of the pan in chalk and then rub it in a little bit and whipe off the excess with a rag. If there is any left in a deep crevice or something its probably a crack. Works surprisingly well if you cant actually see them that well.

I learned a few things today, like when a machinist thinks out loud about parts being flush, parts go in the lathe. Also, the most beautiful seam welds, nobody sees. But cracks, on the other hand - no teeny weeny hairline crack goes unseen in Hill Country (see what I did there, Danny?). How close Faye have to get her face to that oil pan to find that one? Congratulations, you've created the most photogenic, leakproof oil pan in Texas. The Saga Continues ....

I sent my Snap On guy on a goose chase looking for a half inch hole saw. He didn't come through for me so I found the spot weld cutter.. I needed it to install toggle switches in a chrome plated aluminum or steel panel... normal drill bits were snagging the chrome and peeling it off the surface, where the spot weld cutter would score the OD of the hole first and make a clean hole with no damage to the chrome. I showed the Snap On guy what I came up with and he said....'oh yeah, I keep those in stock on the truck..." SMDH....

I'm putting a 7M in an old S30Z. Even after a year of the engine being nothing but an empty block with a head and oil pan on it for mocking up in the chassis, the drain plug was STILL leaking.

@@FayeHadley The plan is to modify it with kick outs, trap doors, and I might steal your pickup mod as well, so hopefully the leak issue will be fixed after that. I also plan to graft ITBs from a GTR into a custom intake, I already have the GTR parts on hand, and use a GE distributor as my cam sensor, while the cap being modified as a wire junction for coil-on-plugs so it looks like spark plug wires are going to each individual coil. I'd also like to make a beauty cover to go over the cam covers reminiscence of the old 2T-G styling. So far the only thing I have done is the fabrication of the low-mount turbo exhaust manifold that tries to mimic the look of the aftermarket headers they made for the old S20 Nissan engines. The focus is still on the body and suspension so it may be another 10 years before it's done. If it ever gets done.
