Definetly need to do an intake clean before you get a tune. A Hilux with that high kms generally have an almost plugged solid intake manifold which restricts the crap out of the engine which is why it’s soo slow. I did an intake clean on my hilux and the amount of shmoo is the intake manifold absolutely blew me away. Once I finished reassembling the rig it was a completely different car. Also need to install a catch can to prevent it from clogging up into the future aswell.

I'd definitely get new uprated pads considering you feel the old tank has bad brakes. Braking performance on something with loads of unsprung mass, and that has been maintained as cheaply as possible, is the most important safety item after quality tyres. The cheapest hilux will have been maintained as cheaply as possible too, so high quality brake pads are a must, like EBC yellow pads or similar, to replace whatever pva and pencil lead mix you have in there now
@sasabarisic8864 Жыл бұрын
EBC yellows were one of the worst brake pads i ever used on my car. Overheated in 3 corners literally. And they were very expensive.
@joannaatkins822 Жыл бұрын
@@sasabarisic8864 Brakes have a bedding in period, and many have a specific way to achieve this. Wilwood for example gets a lot of returns and complaints due to user error from not performing the correct bedding in procedure. EBC has a special coating to speed up the bedding in period on their brake pads, but the road use pads aren't instant use, and almost no road intended brake pads are. EBC yellowstuff pads are not intended for track use, and have a fairly soft compound designed for grip and quietness. They will also chew up brake disks if they get too hot. This is not to be confused with "EBC Yellowstuff Truck" which is designed for use in heavy vehicles and towing applications with high temperature resistance. Proper racing brakes will produce a lot more noise, a lot less dust, and last far longer at higher heat ranges without scoring the metal or overheating. EBC makes high friction pads to increase braking performance for regular road use. More friction means more heat, ergo to use high friction non track pads for track type driving you're going to have a really bad time. EBC Yellowstuff aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, as they're designed to be used for the road where you shouldn't be driving in anger or constantly at risk of boiling your brake fluid. Bluestuff pads are much more suitable as they can also be used for the road, but are very high heat resistant. If you literally cooked your brake pads in three corners then essentially you bought the wrong brake pads. You might as well have bought a flat blade screwdriver for a philips head screw, tried to use it while it was still in the packaging, then complained that it didn't get the job done. Do a search for "EBC yellowstuff Brake pads melting" and they'll all be complaints from people doing track days. EBC says on their own website under the bulletpoints for EBC Yellowstuff "For track use Bluestuff"
