The death of modo started when Brad Peebler sold Luxology to Foundry.

It lives on in Blender.

I used modo until the foundry buy out. Modo in my view was not looked after by them. Licensing was a pain.

The Foundry...nothing more to say about it.

Foundry neglected it but what made Modo great is still there and I, like many others, will continue to use it as long as possible. There is still a very strong discord community.

They never even tried lowering the price. It was so expensive

So sad, i believe Modo is one of the best 3d modeling software in the market.

I was a Modo fanboy from the start, and I kept buying upgrades until it was sold to Foundry. Modo was being marketed at a time when most 3D softwares were expensive. Modo was both easy, fun and affordable. Foundry killed Modo of course. As for marketing it in today's 3D software world, it would probably be a good Blender alternative if it were stripped down to its basics and sold for a low price with complete ownership and no licensing. It seems a waste to just kill it. The AAA game companies have been losing millions on their games lately. How much trouble would it be for some comapny like Sony to just buy it cheap and keep it alive for people who want a simple 3D program that is easy to learn and use for personal use?

They can always make it open source.

Thank you for featuring Modo. I'm really sad about the end of development. However, this software has not disappeared. I hope that many people will continue to use it for 3DCG creation and enjoy creating their own works.

I gave on Modo, due to the blurry UI on Mac Retina screens. That was the final draw for me.

What a pity, Modo was my favorite modeler. Very nice UI.

I enjoyed Modo.

Modo might have been even better if Foundry hadn't acquired it. Even so, it remains one of the best 3D software applications with an excellent UI.

Most of things stated here are true, except that Blender is exceptional. In ten years from now, Blender will be still subpar modeling program at best compared to modo. No matter how Blender users wanted it to be industry standard, it wont be.

Still the best polygon modeling software out there.

It’s a shame because its modelling tools are amazing.

Yea, unfortunately the DCC world has changed due to Houdini, Blender and even UE. Those three mentioned apps killes many other ones.

THE ONLY TIME MODO WAS MODO, WHEN IT WAS STANDING AS ITS OWN, THE DAY IT SOLD TO THE FOUNDRY IT WAS DESPIRT WITH WIND LOL, I

I always felt that Modo was A. modeling app in an already saturated market, with some nice features not found elsewhere B. over priced for an app that doesn't do animation, considering similarly priced full packages, and Blender for free (yes, even back in the day) C. the Foundry acquisition, these rarely go well, often companies just want to implement some part of the tech. D. a shift to sculpting heavy workflows, many poly/nurb modeling apps have simply vanished as a result

Finally someone who knows what it actually was. Silo or even 3D Coat were better investments.

@@MarquisDeSang Silo was always just a Modo lookalike / ripoff that never had Modo's better toolset and features.

Modo has good animation and decent rigging. Rich Hurrey of Pixar (once a TD there) made a great rigging tutorial for Modo animation.

WTF is a modo
@BrendaCreates20 сағат бұрын
Modo is free but Blender killed it. Anyone can use it for free for the next ten years. It is far superior to Blender for modeling. You have to buy plugins for Blender to be a useful modeler. For general purpose Blender is better but you can get Houdini Indie cheap. The best reason to use Blender now is for Vray.
