I love these swamp tiles, John! I can't believe that I've never watched this video before. I watched it because I want to make some tiles from "The Upside Down" in Stranger Things! If you've watched the show (and I'm betting you have!) then you saw how they made The Upside Down look sort of like a swamp with dead trees and roots & vines all over the place! With grunge all over the ground as well and then sort of a wet look like there's water on the ground! If you see this comment I hope that it inspires you to create some tiles from "The Upside Down" to show to all of us, your minions! LOL. Well........go get crafting!

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT No worries, you saw it where you saw it. I was just giving credit where credit is due. There are a lot of ideas that are living in this micro community that we are plugged into. Jeremy at BMC drew me into the whole crafting thing! His most wide spread contribution IMHO would be Modpoge/black paint over XPS foam but has had Many many other helpful tips and brilliant ideas. I bought my proxon from his essential equipment page. I most recognize you for your work with LED lights, using glue sticks as a shaped lens (brilliant), sculpting XPS foam with clay sculpt tools, and I am sure a dozen more ideas. There are many very talented people in the community. I happen to know that Prof. DM from DungeonCraft watches your channel and is a fan. I just wanted to give him a little credit for the origin of the Idea. You guys are all great and keep making awesome content. Oh, and yes I have watched ALL of everyone's Vids mentioned in this post plus many more.

These are phenomenal I just want to ask why you didn't paint water or muddy colors onto the floor tile? Is there something about the texture or were you just satisfied with the colors already on there

B-E-A-utiful! Did someone complain about your blade technique (I noticed you seemed to be quite careful about cutting 'away' from yourself)? Experience and care make that old chestnut irrelevant. Glad you mention baking the sticks, most naturally sourced materials should be similarly treated to kill micro-organisms/mold/fungi that might cause the material to deteriorate or make you ill.
@MyklCarlton

That 'Fall Foliage' looks almost exactly like Birch seed. You might find some on your next hike, or they're often advertised quite cheaply on line (for 1,000 seeds or more). Sealing the log - I think matte Mod Podge might be slightly better because of its resistance to moisture once cured. I could be wrong.

Have you considered using acrylic gloss medium (heavy body or gel) for the water instead of epoxy? There's much less working time consideration and they thin with water and mix with acrylics perfectly (since they're just paint without pigment).

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Should be available from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Dick Blick, or pretty much any other art supply store. Price should be more reasonable, too. It can shrink a bit while curing, but with a thin layer like this, I wouldn't expect much of anything noticeable.

just wondering I've got lots of these vinyl tiles, the only problem is they're white black and grey, do you have to use brown tile or should I just put a watered down wash on there. as for animals I'd sculpt the odd owl snakes, crows, frogs ( I'm quite adept at these now) I can also do fish. but what I would do is buy one of those toy alligators and paint it up so it looks cool and add that too. you could also get those small flamingo toys cut the beak off add a tooth pick beak paint it black and white you've got a heron.
