Much better explanation than the usual textual definition

All steels do not have the same Young's modulus but for a lot of applications and practical purposes the difference is negligible.

In short, the modulus of elasticity is the number that determines how much stress a material can withstand before it permanently deforms. Right?
@moodlemech3 жыл бұрын
No - you just defined the YIELD STRESS. The modulus is how much stress it takes to elastically stretch it by a certain amount.

Is it possible to remove the elasticity module through this test?

Thank you, Sir. this was very informative

They can't bend the same amount if they have different young modulus
@kensfishinglife97336 жыл бұрын
Exactly but if they are both made of the same material Young's Modulus will normally stay around the same no matter if one is heated or hammered.

i heard that there are these bolts on the market that have a tensile strength of 14.9. Is this true????

Yep - that's the highest I've seen too.

Hello everyone.. Can anyone tell me if modulus equals elasticity in meaning? I much appreciate the replies :)
@Aris-zd6fh5 жыл бұрын
This is a late reply. Elasticity is a PROPERTY of a body to return to its original shape and form after the deforming forces have been removed. Modulus, on the other hand, is the MEASURE of a stiffness of a body under deforming forces. That's why bodies with smaller E are more loose, and those with larger E are more stiff.
