Love that lamp! And the paint, chips and all, is just fine. Thanks so much for the recommendation of the Renaissance Wax, I'm going to get some. I have an old tin with the artist Henry Clive's portrait of Rudolph Valentino, and it needs cleaning and rejuvenation of the paint. All the best to you, and your father. I cared for mine for many years, and though it was challenging at times, I'm so glad I was there for him. He loved old clocks, as did his father, and had many. I have a few, and wish I lived near you!

Appreciate your nice comment, beiderbecke1927! Old Clocks and tins just seem to go together. Blessings to you for caring for your father. I would love to see a picture of your Valentino tin all waxed up. You can click on the About section of my channel for the email address if you ever care to do so. Also, it would be a great joy to have a nice clock neighbor. The people around here mostly care about sports, which to me is as exciting as a biologist watching mildew grow. 🤣I do watch some Sumo wrestling on occasion though. Best regards, Ab.

@@time4clocks I just ordered the wax, so I'll send you a photo of the Valentino tin when it's finished. I also have an old Dutch Boy paint bucket, "white lead" it says, that I want to restore. It was in my grandfather's shed since the thirties, and hanging in my father's garage for about 50 years. Now I have it in my studio. I don't know if there are any decent clock repair people here in Grand Rapids. I have a marble and bronze French clock from the 1870s that hasn't run in probably 60 years that needs to be revived. More projects than years left, I fear! Thanks again for the information, Daniel.

@@beiderbecke1927 Hope the wax works out for you! Many of the clock repair people have been passing away for some time now and the one's you will encounter today are not the best. I did a search for clock repair scams once and it's not pretty. There are some clock repair places here and when I read some of the reviews it makes you want to run for the hills! I know my years are dwindling as well so I'm happy to focus on the projects I'm especially fond of and when I repair something I'm not particulary fond of, regarding design, I will just donate it when finished. Take care Daniel! 😸

Hi Ab, yes missed you and your videos you always brighten my day, can't help with the lamp or tin. Wow you have got some work cut out for you with the garden (yard) lovely variety of fruit you have there, good luck with that one. Interesting history behind the tin and the stamp, Just curious how you became interested in the history of Japanese culture You don't have to answer that of course. you have a lot on at the moment with looking after your dad you take care of yourself all the best.

Hey Paul! Giving that pet snail idea a second thought, eh? 🤣🤣Always good to hear from you. The Japanese wall clock I got made me do research on the clock and Japan so I also started watching videos on youtube about many Japanese topics such as a culture and travel and crafts, and I really enjoyed everything I was seeing and hearing. In the big US city where I live, people are generally rude, crass, self-absorbed, no respect for others, etc, etc, and then I see a culture where people still have courtesy and respect, try to be clean, not littering, valuing traditions, respecting the elderly, being able to not have to lock your bicycle, etc, made me have instant respect and envy for them. Just talking about it makes me want to shave my head and put on a kimono! 😹😹

Lovely tin box you have there Ab, as you said the designs are long gone, our history needs preserving to show future generations how things used to be. We each have our own preferences, like Mike said it's yours to do with to make you happy. I'm of the same mindset regarding my first clock. i'm maybe going overboard in the eyes of others but hopefully once restored to a showroom finish i'll know the time and effort that was involved and that's what makes me feel happy and content knowing i'm preserving a little piece of history. 😊

I'm sure your clock is going to look amazing when you are finished Joatmonuk! That is still an ambitious project to tackle! I find that just putting your hands on an old item like that really links you with a long past generation and makes one a tad more thoughtful about life, but I'm a romantic in that regard. 😸

Wonderful orchard you have out there. I was getting worried about you and was about to email you. Didn't know your dad went bed ridden. You need some help every once in a while so you can relax and get the yard and things in order. You had the same question as I deal with all the time. You see some clean the brass very shiny and others don't touch it. Like I say in some of my videos, it's yours to do with to make You happy. Never seen a metal cig box.. Great idea for the metal cig box. God Bless.

Appreciate that Mike! I slept on the floor for about 4 years by mom's bed so I could help her at any time during the night and now I find the Japanese sleep on little mats on the floor so now I love the Japanese! I think it helps my posture as well. I will catch up on your videos someday! You are like a machine putting them out! Take care friend! 🥰🥰
