I cried so hard when I got to the part of the Hey Moe! Hey Dad! portion of Deja Vu All Over Again when Moe learned of Shemp’s death (as well as Curly’s). Shemp’s death brought the end of the golden age of The Three Stooges. RIP Moe-Curly-Shemp Howard & Larry Fine 🪦

Losing both brothers in a short amount of time had to be very heartbreaking.
@kevinmiller6380 Жыл бұрын
Dorothy Castaneda-Which is worse, Moe having to bury Curly, or Shemp dying unexpectedly? Curly's death was expected, but Shemp's was unexpected. Of course, if Curly hadn't drank the same way Ted Healy had, he never would have fallen ill, had the stroke that led to his leaving the act, leading to Shemp leaving his solo career, and rejoining the act.

Losing Curly was bad enough. To lose Shemp in a relatively short period afterwards must have really hurt, particularly since Shemp was the original and selflessly agreed to come back.

Moe on camera may be a bully but he really loved his brothers 🤧

Couldn’t imagine how hard it was for Moe to still have to behave like a bully and still having to hear their voices from old stock footage (mainly Curly’s-watch Up In Daisy’s Penthouse, it was filmed right after curly had died).

@@upmysuccess90s20 And you can see the sadness in Moe's eyes, while Shemp and Larry hid theirs pretty well. You can even tell in Moe's uninspired monotone delivery of this line, "We're not gonna let you marry her, you can't bribe me."

I kinda believe this, Shemp and Curly must have inherited the the same thing; high blood pressure. And I found out, some years ago, in the year 1950 ( or 1951?) Shemp had a stroke, but it didn't affect him as much as it did Curly; although it did reduce some of his energy.

Those talk shows don't mention it at all, but I read Joan Howard Maurer's book, "Curly" - it said the oldest brother, Irving, died first, in 1939, and then their mother died 3 weeks later! But then the second oldest brother, Jack, outlived Moe ...

My dad recently passed in February of this year. He was my best friend and only true family. He and I went through a lot together. His passing was unexpected, and he was only 60. He loved The Three Stooges, The Twilight Zone, etc. I’m only watching The Three Stooges recently, like actually sitting and watching and it’s the best!! And I find it comforting since my dad’s passing. One of my daughters, she’s 9, has been watching with me and she laughs so much! She says Curley is her favorite and she mimics him 😂

After Shemp died, Larry and Moe went walking on the beach. Larry asked, “Are we going to do it again?” And Moe said, “Porcupine, I don’t know.” It must have been one of the lowest points in their lives. Yet just three years later, the Stooges were back and more successful than ever.
