As a seller on eBay since 1999, I can tell you that comps are not everything. I pick up things that have no comps, and I sell them for a high profit -- as I walk by those people with their cell phones out in the aisles of GW or in the corner of the bins who have passed those items by because there are no comps for them and they "never heard of them." My favorite recent one was a Christmas stocking by a certain maker I found in a picked-over bin, which I sold in May for $250 on eBay in a day. I do think as a newbie, you have to check trendy clothing brands because trends change on a dime and many fashion buyers are brand obsessed. But I also buy many clothing items without checking comps; I go with my gut and experience, especially when it comes to vintage clothing items. I am afraid people will miss out on a learning experience if they stick with comps. If the risk is low, a few dollars, and your gut says it's good, try it. That's how you develop instincts.

I only started and I am scared to build inventory not good for sell...I study and learn about profitable brands and stay in the corner checking my list...but I start to see that I leave really good and interesting pieces just because they are not in my list and I was wondering if its right way, thank u for your comment, this is exactly what I needed

Mogi can you PLEASE do an Ebay shipping video: step by step with an example of different items? Maybe a shirt, a pair of heavy jeans, and shoes. I’m stuck at shipping! I think Ebay shipping confusion is a barrier for a lot of Posh sellers who would like to expand their business. Here’s the thing, I can list fine, but shipping is SO confusing because essentially Ebay makes you work on shipping TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sold one item and lost money on shipping. I thought I’d already selected a shipping option when I listed. 1. Once the item sold I spent sooooo much time looking EVERYWHERE for the shipping label to generate once the item was sold 2. Didn’t know I had go in and do shipping all over again and “purchase” shipping????????? 3. It was a pair of boots and I had been told to ship flat rate $14.50……..but when it was time to “purchase” shipping I apparently did it wrong, selected the wrong button, wrong box and ended up being charged back $7 a weeks later for doing it wrong. 4. I was too OUTDONE and never sold anything else. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Hi! I’ve been a reseller for a long time but love watching your videos, even this great beginner helper! I’d love to hear an ‘Advanced reseller’ topic! Like, do I list under Anthro or Pilcro? What about Aritzia or Wilfred Free? How to do sales (BOGO, for example) that actually WORK! How/when/why to move stale inventory or send to another platform like TRR to do it for you. Thoughts on packaging - do I really need a Thank you note or a plastic protection wrap/tissue paper? Thanks!

For anyone selling vintage, I'd add Thrilling. I don't get a lot of sales but they sell at full price, Thrilling's commission is only 10% and they pay shipping. It's a nice incremental bump every month! Also very easy platform to list.

@maria Malamud She was selling a reseller spreadsheet but is no longer offering it. She’s supposed to be doing an updated version of it so I’m patiently waiting on it so I can purchase it. 🤞

Used your advice! Went through and noted some of the top brands found in the thrift... Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès... and you were right! They were all gone and sold by the next time I was there!

I watched You Tube videos for a month before I was brave enough to sell on Ebay. I did only Ebay then branched out to Mecari. For some reason Poshmark scares me! I think it is the sharing. I'm going to crosslist on there after watching your video.

What do you do when you check comps and you don't find the item??? When this happens to me I usually just give it a price that I think is reasonable.

If you can’t find the exact item, you can usually find similar and use that as a pricing guide

Question: (First--love your videos). Can you create a video that addresses these two things about Ebay: Product Recommendations and Shipping. My issue is that not all the product requirements are applicable to my item. (For example: Pattern. I may have a pattern that's not covered in their hit list, so I leave it blank. Inevitably I'm haunted by reminders that I have recommendations missing. Does this hinder visibility on the platform, sales etc?) Next: Shipping. Good Lord I love me my Posh shipping! Question: You list $7.99 shipping on many items. Do you pick up the additional cost for, say, priority which seems to average a bit more. How does that work? Thanks so much! Congratulations on that beautiful little girl!! So precious!

Hi Mogi and resellers alike my question is about eBay how do you stop a bogus offer am I doing something wrong on eBay I keep on getting offers for hundreds of dollars over what I’m asking and it just frustrates me why do people do this? you know somebody’s not gonna pay $100 more than what you’re asking especially not for a $10 pair of sneakers thanks for any advice on eBay I love you videos and congratulations on your daughter

Isn't eBay more confusing? I only sell on Poshmark because it's so easy. Plus, it seems like the shipping is more on eBay, no?
