Site 10 is the bomb, perfect spot for a meet up I think. Also makes you feel like you're not in flat Ohio. 😂 That little lower site is really cool as well. I agree the stingers are awesome.

Definitely the best site at Mohican. And your absolutely right, it does make you feel like your on a real mountain. lol. Great spot for a meet up, tons of tents / hammocks could fit in that area. You feeling a winter meetup? We could probably get a great group of guys there!

Nice trip Bryce. I've never been to Mohican...now it's on my list! I've been messing around with tarp setups but have never overnighted with it as a ground setup. Looks like it worked well. Evan's Backpacking videos kind of got me interested hmmmmmm ........take care brother.

Not sure how my setup would have faired in the rain, but i knew it would be a dry night. I've only tarp'd a few times but it is different . I really like it.. As long as most of the bugs are gone for the year. lol

Dang Bryce, I don't know how I missed that sweet spot in camp 10! That looked a lot nicer than where I stayed at there. Never tried the honey stinger waffle, will definitely check that out. Sweet shortcut across the farm fields...I'm sure they would've been alright with it as long as you weren't messin up someones deer hunt, lol. I got to tell ya, your vids are very enjoyable to watch....good to have ya puttin them out again :) Great ending!!

Thanks a ton Jason! The honey stinger waffle is pretty much a high carb / energy snack that ultra runners use. They are better when they arent cold. haha. At the fire pit you are at hidden from the site marker.... if you see a large rock on the ground at the cliff and can clearly see where it broke off. That was my friend climbing. Rock fell with him and hit him on the hip. He had a rough night but he was ok

Going there this weekend. I stayed at site 10 when I went there solo last fall and it was awesome. I did not know where to register and I just hiked in to that site. I hiked around to that lower part where you stayed and thought it was amazing. Funny the next day hiking out I ran into two other guys and asked them where they stayed and they said site 10. I did not realize the actual site was up top there and they were there the whole time and either of us noticed each other. Well I noticed the next morning when I went to climb those rocks and saw there was a couple tents up there so I did a quick u turn. Question for ya if you get to this before May 31st. Should we go to the lower section (sites 1-6) or stay up there by (8-10). Well probably hike a lot of the trails but it looks like we'll be driving if we stay up top there. Thanks
@onkelsort53816 жыл бұрын
I have started to put the pointy end of my hikingpoles down into the ground. The consequences of bowing your head / eyes down on those things going in or out of the tarp, putting shoes on, what not, freaked me out too much...

Nice campsite! My trip last weekend turned into a nightmare. My truck broke down a few miles away from the Porcupine Mountains in 20 F weather and it was windy. Long story, but I'm safe at home now!! My wife drove 160 miles to rescue me and my son and his friend went back to tow my dead truck.
@BryceNewbold7 жыл бұрын
Oh no! At least you were prepared for cold weather! That sounds terrible. I often have thought about if that would to me. I would probably set up the tent by the car and cook my meal while i waited on rescue. lol.

I parked at one of the Park and Pack Parking lots indicated on the map. It was the one located my Park and Park site #9. I made a loop from the Upper trails. Mountain Bike and Hiking trail. A bit hard to explain. Mohican had lots of options for loops however. Also be prepared to share site 10. There is always people there.

I too am from Ohio Cleveland Ohio and I do my camping and hiking on the Buckeye Trail that's closest to me that I can get you I do not drive so I take a mountain bike which is actually worse fun but worse Nothing like having a 55 to an 80 lb backpack on a mountain bike riding a hundred thirty miles in 5 hours that's just one way so you know the fun that I get it may be a little exhausting riding all that many miles because you do have to stop when you're there at your designated area rest overnight then do your hiking from there after you lock your bike up
@BryceNewbold7 жыл бұрын
