This is a review of the Mohu Leaf Supreme Pro Antenna. How does it compare to the junky generic flat antennas or an antenna more built like the ClearStream 2 Max?

Thanks for the review on this antenna. I recently moved to a rural area in Oregon , 55 miles from broadcast towers. I tried 3 other indoor antennas without luck. But the channels come in great with this Mohu. I only get 10 UHF channels , but that includes Fox , which is a good news station. I found a couple days later that the reception goes bad when weather gets bad.

What do you mean by bad weather? My U MUST HAVE antenna seems not to be as good as this Mohu one, but it still works the same with clouds and heavy rain as it does in the sunshine. I can't say during thunderstorms, since I unplug my electronics during thunderstorms anyway. I suppose I'll have to wait a couple of months to see how it does in snow storms.

Living in an apartment building, I'm stuck with an indoor antenna. What's worse, pretty much all the signal I get is from reflections as I'm facing into an interior courtyard. I've been through a series of indoor antennas (but I still haven't spent as much as the cable company used to charge me for just a couple of months) and the Mohu so far performs the best. In fact, it's the only antenna which seems *relatively* insensitive to small movements, and it gets multiple channels (not all the ones I could receive with even a modest roof antenna) without having to be moved around. I don't know what they've got in those flat plastic things, but it really does seem to work. Thanks for all the reviews and videos!

Always enjoy your informative shows. Interesting to see how that Mohu indoor antenna performed. Rather weird but highly positive results with my MohuI. I don't know what happened but even though I live in a second floor apartment with my Mohu Leaf 30 positioned in a closet (was the best place I found after an awful lot of trying other locations) my scan reveals 78 channels (I live in a western suburb of Houston) which includes the 4 major networks and CW, MeTV, Laff, Buzzer and other channels. According to TVfool most of these antennas lie in a southeasterly direction from my apartment. This is a real head scratcher for me as there is not much of what you'd call line of sight transmission. Instead there is is a good chunk of nothing but brick and mortar of this large apartment complex standing between my Mohu and the antennas. But, needless to say, I am quite satisfied with the results. Keep up the good work.

If your HOA tells you not to erect a TV antenna they are grossly exceeding their authority. An FCC rule restricts HOAs from preventing homeowners from erecting TV antennas in their exclusive-use areas, such as balconies. If the HOA doesnt like your antenna tell them -- Take it up with the Feds.

RV in his driveway, which, BTW, was more expensive than all except 2 of the 255 houses in the community. The RV was spotless, you could see yourself in the finish and no one was living in it. If you own the land, you can actually put your antenna up anywhere on your property which will give you the best reception. You do not have to ask permission from the HOA. Also, the law was updated a few years ago to allow for renters to place an outdoor antenna on land which is for their "exclusive use" such as a patio.

I have a Mohu Leaf and after a lot of work I found a position that usually is able to pick up the main networks, but even then the signal is borderline and often drops. If I bought the Jolt amplifier to go along with my leaf would I realistically expect better performance? Would you recommend a different amplifier instead? I liked the look of the Antop amplifier, which had a manual gain knob, but the Amazon listing deceptively included reviews for totally unrelated devices, resulting in an inaccurate rating, and filtering reviews made it seem like mixed reviews.

Amplifiers are only to make up for signal loss in Long coaxial cables. They will not magically bring in new signals that are not hitting the small antenna in the first place. It's likely the building material of your house is killing your signal. I'd recommend a larger antenna mounted Outdoors if you are having problems

@@AntennaMan I have the leaf mounted in a window, but I'm in an apartment, and first floor. I don't really have a better option than that. When checking my HD Homerun signal meter, I can see some weak signals that are there but not strong enough to come in, and the ones that do come in have near borderline signal strength. In my area, there are 38 channels and I'm only getting 11 right now, and even those aren't consistent. I would be happy just getting the channels I see now to be a more consistent signal, but getting extra channels would be a nice bonus if possible.

I purchased this antenna on Amazon but was very disappointed. I live in Toronto Canada and am about 10km from the CN tower. I believe the tower broadcasts about 14 channels. I managed to pick up between 2 and 5 depending on antenna location. Using the amplifier I got maybe 1 or 2 extra channels. Buffalo is about 60 miles from my house which was way too far for this antenna. I tried an old UHF loop antenna and got similar results. I really thought this MoHu Leaf Supreme Pro would be worth the money. It wasn't. One last thing - the packaging is terrible. The antenna was bent into a cylinder and I could not flatten it out.

After seeing this I was excited to replace my "GE Pro Outdoor Yagi" (mounted indoors pointing at a window) with this Mohu Supreme Pro, in order to more reliably pull in our ABC affiliate at 174 MHz. The Tivo signal meter often didn't agree with the four signal light pips on the Mohu. I was not able to beat the yagi performance with the Mohu. I found it odd the Mohu directions clearly show the amp at the TV end of the coax (not the antenna end) in an indoor setup. Maybe before I return it I'll try the amp with the yagi.

I got this antenna and I returned it. I live in between Cleveland and Toledo. I previously had one of those $20 flat antennas. With the antenna, I was able to get a clear signal of Cleveland’s UHF stations (NBC 3, ABC 5, PBS 25, IND 55, and UNIVISION 61). I also got spotty reception of Akron’s UHF stations (Court TV 17, ION 23, TCT 47, and PBS 49), one of Toledo’s UHF stations (NBC 24), and one of Erie’s UHF stations (FOX 66). The spotty stations mostly on came in the summer. Outside of then, the signal meter would say the stations were at around 32. The big problem with that antenna is, because it didn’t have any UHF elements, I couldn’t pick up three major Cleveland stations (FOX 8, CBS 19, and CW 43) or three major Toledo stations (CBS 11, ABC 13, and CW 13). So I got the Mohu, because I looked like you got your VHF stations in well and all UHF stations were coming in with good quality. When I got the Mohu, it was unable to pick up most my stations. I was only able to get a signal from NBC 3, IND 55, and UNIVISION 61. I lost ABC 5, the signal meter said it was at a 32. I also was still unable to pick up FOX 8, the signal meter put up a 32 as well. I also lost total access to the Akron and Erie stations. I also gained no new channels with this antenna. Anyways, I would highly not recommend it.

I switched the crap cable that came with the model to left over cable and modem coaxial which were thicker and better made and much shorter in length. I also removed the power amp. I made sure I was pointing the antenna towards the towers I was looking for. To my surprise I went from 21 channels to 40. I added the power amp and lost 9 channels right away. So better shorter coaxial, pointed towards towers and removal of power amp made all the difference.

Solved flattening the Mohu Leaf Supreme pro. The light in my oven brings the oven tempreture to around 90 degrees. I unfolded the Mohu as best I could then left it in the oven overnight with the curl up. The tempreture didn't hurt the antenna but let it relax and finish flattening out. I wouldn't advise turning the oven on as most ovens' bottom setting would run the risk of damaging or melting the material.

It all depends: This is an excerpt from POSTED BY: JAKE BUCKLER JUNE 6, 2019 on the Solid Signal blog: If your landlord or HOA says you can’t mount an antenna above your house, you need to know your rights. A specific federal law trumps HOA guidelines… within reason. It’s called the OTARD rule, which is a nickname for edition 47 of the Code of Federal Regulations, section 1.4000. It was created by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). According to this rule, you can put an antenna or dish on your roof as long as you follow these rules: - It must be smaller than 39.37″ (one meter) in any direction. (This covers all satellite dishes and most small to medium-sized antennas.) - You still need permission if you want to put it in an area that can be seen by the public. - You also need permission before you start drilling holes in your property. Want a hint about working within HOA guidelines? It’s always best to touch base with your homeowners association before you mount an antenna. It’s never a good idea for them to just see you up on the roof or have a neighbor snitch on you while you’re up there. Go to “yard bosses” ahead of time, tell them what you want to do, and make them aware of the OTARD rule.

That would be odd. AFAIK, "NextGen TV" (that is, ATSC 3.0) uses the same frequencies as NTSC and ATSC 1.0, so as long as you have an ATSC 3.0 tuner (either in your TV or externally), one would assume that any antenna that can pick up NTSC or ATSC 1.0 could pick up ATSC 3.0.

The rule (47 C.F.R. Section 1.4000) has been in effect since October 1996, and it prohibits restrictions that impair the installation, maintenance or use of antennas used to receive video programming. The rule applies to video antennas including direct-to-home satellite dishes that are less than one meter (39.37") in diameter (or of any size in Alaska), TV antennas, and wireless cable antennas. The rule prohibits most restrictions that: (1) unreasonably delay or prevent installation, maintenance or use; (2) unreasonably increase the cost of installation, maintenance or use; or (3) preclude reception of an acceptable quality signal.

Tyler, great channel. I'm looking for an indoor antenna and this one looks interesting. My situation is that I'm living in a concrete box (a condo) only a few hundred metres from the CN Tower, which is a huge broadcast antenna. I'm actually close enough to it (but on the opposite side of the building from it) that any signal I get is reflected off other buildings and coming through the windows, and I suspect the multiple paths of reflection don't help. I don't really have the option of an outdoor antenna, so indoor it is. Any thoughts on my situation that would help improve things?

You'll want an antenna with a reflector to limit the multipath signals coming from the other direction. This Clearstream model has a reflector on it. The Mohu wouldn't work as well since it can get signal from both directions and the multipath would kill the signals. amzn.to/2MH5jWR

I know this video is 2 years old but does this pick up the NHK World channels? They are 50.2 and 58.2 and both are VHF. We sadly recently lost cable and the NHK World channels are supposed to be viewable on antenna but they won't come through on our Mohu - Arc Pro 60 so we're thinking of exchanging it for this Supreme Pro one (We live in the city).

There's probably room for two tapered elements, rather than just a square sheet of foil. Someone savvy can build something similar. That of course would involve time and study, and the project wouldn't be amplified.

I live in Uniontown Ohio which is about 40 miles away from the transmitter towers in Cleveland.it would only pick up three of those Cleveland stations and one, their transmitter tower is just outside of Akron Ohio which is only 12 miles away from my location. It doesn't very well picking up VHF Fox 8 is on RF 8 Channel 5 and channel 55this thing couldn't pick up either but I switch to a ClearStream Max 2 and all but Fox 8 came in. Hi I live in an apartment building. I only have two big windows that are good for placing an antenna on them. Right now I have a 1byone antenna which is ok... But I want to upgrade to something better.... But I don't want to pay a lot for a new antenna. Any suggestions. I only want to pay at most 35 dollars or less. Are there any good antennas in this price range? I live in NJ.... In populated area.

So I recently purchased this antenna and it seems to be working correctly, but I’m only showing 1 green light on the signal strength indicator on the antenna. No matter where I go inside or outside it never shows more than 1 green light. Isn’t this antenna supposed to show up to 4 green led lights for a strong signal and 1-3 for weaker signals? I’m using a standard small iPhone AC adapter and wondering if it’s not powerful enough. What size AC adapter should I use with this antenna amplifier? Thanks for the help.

Want to point something out about the little amp that comes with some Mohu antennas, at least the Striker that I have. The Striker will pick up VHF, at least VHF high, at least physical channel 10, as I can pick up a one about 20 miles away with some pixelization, when I don't use the supplied amp. When I do use the amp, the UHF channels get better but channel 10 can no longer be detected. I bought a different amp that supports both VHF and UHF and now all the channels work. So it appears the little amp is UHF only, even though I don't see that mentioned on Mohu's site or in the materials that came in the box. Other than that, I like the Striker.

I tried this one out and it was decent, but not as good as the Clearview Max-V plus a separate amplifier. (Particularly for VHS.) If you're not that far away and you want a flat panel, I'd be happy with this.

What about an outdoor antenna that can be put on a pole like a flagpole and has a battery amplifier and a frequency converter that transmits the signal to the house. Inside you have a small antenna that filters out everything but this one frequency and is attached to the TV.

Sometimes your best bet is to just break down and buy a small attic antenna, strap it to a gaffer's tripod, and set it up at a window pointed in the direction of most of your stations. If you have to use an indoor antenna and have trees to work though, anything less may give minimal results at best.

I just got the Mohu Ranger, which claims a 75 mile range, and installed it. I put it in a north facing window partially for lack of a better place and to give it the extra boost to pick up South Bend stations 50 miles away. I’m 25 miles from the Fort Wayne towers, but the signal had to travel through the house and past aluminum siding. The FW stations are relatively lower powered for full power stations. I got all FW stations but one, no South Bend stations, and surprisingly two Detroit stations, which I expect to fade out as the day wears on. (Update - They did) Overall, it was a bit of a letdown after seeing how well the Supreme Pro worked for you. The Terk HDTVA worked better for me although it is clunky and unwieldy. (I’m returning it.)

I'm on a 30 tower Bracketed to the house. Running 100 ft of Channel Master RG6 coaxial cable up the tower to a Channel Master CM7777 preamp with separate UHF and VHF inputs. (New model CM7777 has only one input for VHF/UHF) Sticking a piece coaxial cable 2 feet out from VHF input with one foot stripped to the bare core. I'm able to pick up CFPL 10.1 (fifty miles to the west and CFTO 9.1 50 miles to the northeast off the CN Tower. (Both are VHF Stations) Just goes to show that a piece of wire at a good height can do. And a lot of these fancy pieces of plastic are just wires encased in plastic. As for a UHF I did not do the same wire trick, because I know UHF is a lot weaker of a signal. Local UHF channels in a 30 mile radius would probably work. My set up for UHF is a 4 bay Focus Brand Antenna aimed at Buffalo, NY. It works for the high powered network stations like 7.1 ABC, 2.1 NBC, 4.1 CBS, 17.1 PBS, 23.1 CW, for the low powered Buffalo stations 29.1 Fox, 49.1 MyTVBuffalo, 67.1 MeTV need a antenna with more gain. Also Atmospheric conditions also pay a big part, in spring and summer with sunny clear conditions I get some stations as east from Syracuse, NY from Brantford, Ont.

It's time to sit down, and design an easily assembled, free to the world - dual band signal amplifier, because it has become clear that the ability of the antenna to conduct/pull signal from the air is not the key factor, the db gain, plus 'amplifier effectiveness' is.
