Here we are in the summer sunshine dandering along Moira main street. Sorry I had no research done on Moira so I was not able to refer to any history etc. I will return. Apart from the heavy traffc rolling by on the main street, this is a very pleasant place to spend a few hours exploring. Some great eateries too!

I must have missed this one. Looks like a very nice little town. Very scenic! Looks like a good place to take the Mrs. to make sure she stays happy.

You have hit the nail on the head again Greg. Plenty of women type shops that I hate. We were away for a few days in Omagh and it is exactly the same. Tanya loved walking round!

I remember that village when I was a kid, its nice to see it hasn't changed me. I absolutely love old buildings and the history that surrounds them. It's a beautiful little village it reminds me so much of Killyleagh ❤️.

Thanks RL. This is a superb spot. The only draw back was the heavy traffic/noise on the main street crossing the road but I can live with that. We will be going back after I do a wee bit of research on the local history and old churches etc.

I reckon it is much cheaper than Hillsborough FF. Still pricey by our standards though.

Is the famous Moira village? We have a street named after Moira here in Calcutta, India. It is beside Rawdon Street. I believe Lord Hastings was once the Earl of Moira until 1816 besides being the Marquess of Hastings

Hi KrishnaR. Yes this was filmed in Moira village. I understand why you might call it famous but to us locals we don't see it at all as famous. It is a pleasant wee market village that puts on a very fine flower show over the summer. It has wonderful family run shops and the big estate and gardens nearby. I didn't know of the Calcutta connection or indeed the Lord Hastings connection. I will have to research this. This is excellent information. It is wonderful that some street names in Calcutta are called after our wee Moira. You honour us! Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills of Northern Ireland.

@@TomMcClean I am preparing for the civil services. And as a part of our syllabus, we are required to master Modern History. Modern Indian History starts from the arrival of English and the fall of the Mughals in 1750s, with Battles of Plassey (1756) and Buxar (1764). So, I am reading about various English Governor Generals and thus the curiosity. Also, I am a graduate from the La Martiniere for Boys school, Kolkata, and we had 3 streets in the neighbourhood, named Loudon Street, Rawdon Street and Moira Street. Kolkata is all about nostalgia, with streets named after various English administrators, like Wellesley, Dalhousie, Canning, Elgin etc.

Good man KrishnaR. Keep at your studies. Learn as much as you can. Your history studies are fascinating. I'm afraid my knowledge of Indian history is very limited. Best wishes Tom

Oooops Gregory I got a bit mixed up of course I meant McCartneys rather than Grahams. Apologies for that. My excuse is that I am 67. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlreagh Hills.
