What really struck me was just how much of a character Thanos became. He was very angry at Gamora for lying, stating clearly he never taught her that, and when other would beg him to spare their lives in exchange for the infinity stones, help, information, etc, he would do it. Say what you will about him being evil, but adding a moral code really made him shine IMO. He respected stark and and was more than just a meathead.

Camden Allard I absolutely loved when he looked at Starlord and was like “I like you” and teleported away. It really drove home that he wasn’t here to kill everyone and be a dick, he was just trying to make sure nobody suffered the way he did. Sure he could have killed Drax and mantis and Starlord, he could have killed Tony after getting the time stone, he could have killed even Loki right away but was hearing him out before having to kill him to save his own life. He spared people and had admiration and respect and honor. He didn’t kill just to kill or be a typical dick villain. He strategically took lives and it was fucking brilliant.

The hulk was kinda disappointing but he did have a reason not to come out. Thanos beat the shit out of him, hulk is a kid in a titans body and has never lost a fight. If this were comic book planet breaker genius level hulk he would've won but once again it's a child. The thing with the beating the big bads dishonestly was part of what I liked. In the past marvel movies we've had too many fightscenes where like you said one guy Jacks off the other until someone magically is stronger and beats the other guy. Do you write a character to be stronger than another? How do you go about doing that. Would thanos be stronger than hulk automatically, invulnerable to his punches and whooping him no matter how hard hulk tried *or* be on par and simply use smarter fighting techniques to beat him. It's obvious what makes a better, unique fight scene. Part of what made this movie so great is that thanos and his big bads can be killed and are vulnerable, instead of being impervious to damge, having to be killed by a single op attack or generic fight. The fights are high stakes and have actual consequence. This was a deliberate change that was conveyed early on when squidward was cut on the side of his head. I was honestly surprised when seeing that because before this it'd be that either you got hit only to proceed to brush it off or you get hit hard enough to die. the scene at Titan with the GOTG and iron man portrayed this change perfectly. The entire team used every bit of strength and skill they had to beat thanos, not hurt him but outsmart him. If he were kept asleep and the gauntlet was taken it would've been over. Thanos is too strong to be killed 1 on 1. Imagine if instead of that scene we had thor come in with hulk and they just out strengthed him. Lame. The marvel universe has needed to evolve since thor 1 and this is the change it needed. Anyone like to discuss I honestly want new perspectives it's interesting to look at these movies and what makes them great
@michaelhussey7176 жыл бұрын
Just a fan disney doesn't know what the fuck they are doing with hulk, they are making him seem like this peice of shit that just gets kicked around, thor could probably win against this hulk, its absolute crap
@jathandavis83776 жыл бұрын
I did read somewhere that one of the directors of the movie commented that the reasoning behind hulk's small appearances is that they didn't want him to come in and just stop an enemy with sheer strength alone, as you said, lame. So to make it where Banner himself must fight instead of relying on hulk's brute strength was good character development, and kept the empty usage of hulk coming out when they needed him most from happening was a good break from the easy path of that, regardless that hulk had less screen time. but I would like to have the appearance of the hulk in the second part to be greater.

C'mon; Age of Ultron wasn't bad. It's on the lower end as far as Marvel movies go, but it was still an enjoyable movie. The Hulk obviously didn't come out because he was afraid of Thanos. Hulk, for the first time, found someone he couldn't overpower, and that scares the hell out of him. He's like a kid mentally, and he's unwilling to face the boogeyman.

I didn't have a problem with what they did to Hulk, it gave a moment for other characters to shine and I was Glad to see Ruffalo be the main focus for the character, plus the hulk is a pouty child that has won continuously for 2 years and he's bubble has been burst and he's terrified of this so it falls into he's character But yeah I feel what Star Lord did was just wow what a bitch like I saw the film twice and I was madder the second time for what he did. I believe he didn't fall out of character but I think marvel shot themselves in the foot because I'm not sure I'll be able to like him as a character again
@fishworshipper6 жыл бұрын
I disagree, actually. Dr Strange saw all possible outcomes, and saw only a 1 in something like 14 thousand or million or whatever outcome where everything turned out favorably. Getting the Gauntlet off of Thanos was not that low of a probability, and Strange mentions after Thanos gets the Time Stone that this was "endgame" and "the only way," implying that the path they're on leads to the one favorable future. Thor earlier mentions that weapons made by the Dwarves, such as the Infinity Gauntlet, would Lovecraft the minds of those without bodies strong enough to wield them. Getting the Gauntlet off of Thanos wouldn't mean that they could use it, but it would give Thanos the opportunity to quickly and easily kill at least one of them after he woke up. I'm betting that the only reason for that entire fight was to buy time for Thor. Thor had to get Stormbreaker in time to confront Thanos in Wakanda - because Stormbreaker is immune to the Infinity Gauntlet. Right now, Thor is the hardest counter to Thanos that we know of, and if Thor finds him again and kills him we already know that he can wield the Gauntlet because he's Asgardian.
@Peckh6 жыл бұрын
This isnt correct Dr Strange lets starlord do that since he knows its the only outcome where they win. The only winning outcome is letting thanos win so they can reassemble the team with iron man and call captain marvel. Dr Strange new that stopping starlord would in some way lead to a loss. either now or later in years. In some way it would lead to a worser outcome What starlord did is what anyone would do. He was given the choice to kill the one he loved and then had it ripped away from him. Then hours later he finds it all to be meaningless and her to be killed anyway. The dude lost what he cared most about and had it ripped from him twice. Poor dude
@boakes71426 жыл бұрын
Thanos said "he had to" Just like Ego did when he revealed he put cancer in StarLords mom His reaction is justified by losing yet ANOTHER woman he loved to someone else trying to justify the murder
@garristhemont15866 жыл бұрын
I think Star Lord's reaction was reasonable, for lack of a better word. He just realized the guy in front of him murdered the love of his life. True, he could've waited until the gauntlet was off before hitting Thanos, but he had no self control because of his blind rage in that moment
@biocta6 жыл бұрын
You can blame Starlord for Thanos winning, but honestly I think everyone else deserves blame too. There were tons of heroic person for stone sacrifices where nobody could, or was willing to, see the bigger picture. All of those sacrifices were ridiculously terrible decisions, but when you're the Avengers, you can defeat anyone, right?

I think they nailed deaths pretty well in this, hero wise. They hit hard. I, as a big fan of Guardians of the Galaxy and their actors portraying them, genuinely felt sad for their deaths. Spiderman was my childhood hero, and the innocence Tom Holland portrayed really hit hard, and I know it will have a huge effect on Iron Man next movie. I am a little bit upset that Star Lord was so much of a loose cannon here, I mean I expected him to attack Thanos for killing Gamora however he was always very immature with some brief periods of maturity, though that is his character design. I wish Thanos's adopted kids were a little more detailed and to be honest all seem like new races though that isn't new considering Gamora is the last of her kind. They were also genuinely annoying and I hated them. Thanos, however, I believed is the best villain Marvel has created, and I understand and can reason with his idea, and I believe many realists will side with it. He was the opposite of what the heros were, he saw that Life is not a utopia and that losses must be accepted in order for life itself to survive, though he did give away his humanity in doing so and lost basic morality. However, this can be portrayed as a hero as he ensured that, to the end, that through out all sacrifices made, that he accomplished what he aimed to do. And thats something. Black Panthers death was kind of emotionless, of him just crawling and then disappearing with no real reaction to it besides those near him. I loved it, however, and I cannot wait till the next movie and to see the Galaxies reaction.

The best thing about this movie was Thanos and the unique team ups that each set of heroes had, it had a nice balance of off world cosmic stuff and Earth based stuff. Thanos definitely lived up to the 10 years of hype, and it was refreshing how driven yet also reasonable he was towards his goal, he wasn't trying to "Rule the Galaxy with an iron fist!". He was simply trying to right a perceived wrong that he had identified and he even says how his method of balancing the universe is completely random and without emotion or spite. Between Thanos and Killmonger Marvel have single handedly reinvigorated the concept of a "Comic book movie villain", as both villains are sympathetic and empathic from an audience stand point and their actions are extreme but they also have a reasonable position that is almost admirable.
@lavisblade6 жыл бұрын
Re-writing Thanos' goals and removing Death pisses me off. The coolest thing about Thanos in the comics is his infatuation toward the aspect of Death. Seeing how authors use the idea of Life and Death in a sort of Ying and Yang in the Marvel universe is a cool idea. If either Life or Death reign supreme you create chaos or nothingness. Oh well infinity gauntlet will never reach the ridiculously large scale of the comics because they need to dumb down the story for the masses. It's all so sadly predictable. Tony and Steve will work together and Steve will put on the gauntlet to reverse all the damage caused by Thanos... the end. I can't wait to cringe.
@freddythepie6 жыл бұрын
Pessimistic comic nerd gets triggered by Infinity war deviating from comics like literally anything else taken from the comics through the years.
@SpeedBoost6 жыл бұрын
+lavisblade "Cringe"? ... so you're complaining that a dumb comic book movie based on a dumb comic book is too dumb for you? I liked comic books (like most people I grew up with them) but let's be real here, they're not works of great literature. They're stories where people in capes and animal themed costumes fight space aliens and interdemensional monsters, they're popcorn entertainment for kids and teenagers, and these films are exactly that, they're Summer Blockbusters with the sole purpose of entertaining people with spectacle and interesting visuals. Also why would you expect the MCU version of Infinity War to be a direct translation of the comics Infinity Gauntlet arc? The MCU doesn't have the X-Men, Thane, Silver Surfer, Inhumans, Namor, She-Hulk, The Fantastic Four, Nova and Adam Warlock is being held back for GotG3. So why would you expect them to faithfully adapt a story when they don't have access to over half the cast of that story? Also introducing Mistress Death into the MCU when they literally just had Hela the Goddess of Death in Thor Ragnarok would confuse the general audience, as most people would conflate both characters with one another and it would just be unnecessarily confusing. Having Thanos be less concerned with impressing his crush and more concerned with persuing his misguided solution to the over population of the universe, was far more interesting, as there are certain things that come across as far too goofy when attempting to adapt a comic to live action. Having your main villain being some friend zoned sycophant as opposed to a misguided sociopath would have made the MCU Thanos seem like a pathetic idiot. For instance in The Dark Knight, if the Joker was only doing everything that he does in that movie in order to impress Poison Ivy, then you'd look at him like he's a pathetic moron. It's one of the main criticisms of TDKR's Bane, that once you find out he's only doing everything for Talia, that it takes out alot of that characters edge and he becomes less interesting because of it.

I do find it annoying though that people compare superhero movies just because they have superheroes in them. TDK and the marvel movies are so different I don't see the point in comparing them. I'd much rather watch Infinity War and I enjoyed it way more than TDK, I felt that there were more great moments that had me hooked than TDK but as a standalone movie I don't think I would have liked it as much since you need to know what happened in the previous movies. TDK as a standalone movie is better but, at least for me, Infinity War was way more exciting to watch.

When I was a child my favorite superhero was Spider-Man. He was crush and my idol. Later in life I stopped having this much of a love for him I found different things to obsess about. When I was in the movie theatre and seen Spider-Man in THAT scene my child version took over in the chair and my heart shattered. You worded it the best I genuinely felt like Tom Holland couldnt replace Tobey Maguire and I was scared to give him a chance. That scene won over my child side. It won over every side of me.
