But that ties into the whole theme around bullying for both movies. Yes it looked goofy but I'm pretty sure that's what they were going for. I thought it looked silly in the first too on first watch. Like "That was it?" so was more willing to accept it here. It's half adventure and half horror. Pennywises last line of dialogue capture that split.

The reason that it is effected by the them making fun of it is because when the ritual was complete it actually wasn’t completely. The ritual is complete when they face there fears and eddie dies. This is because Eddie was riches token all alone and Eddie dying made him realise he’s how much he loved him.

I disagree on IT being omniscient until characters need to sneak around, in the first movie we see IT gets hyper-focused on one particular person a lot, to the point where IT gets blindsided and impaled a few times. This happens both in the finale and midway through the movie. So long as he's already looking at a character IT doesn't seem to know what the others are doing. Also they didn't kill IT by insulting IT in the book, a character went inside its body to destroy its heart.

They still destroy it by defying its scariness though, remember when Richie effectively incapacitates it MULTIPLE TIMES by doing his voices? It's kinda the samae thing; it's the same theme. Belief hurts It, because It is a being of belief. It explores the fears of humans, and 'touches' them, but so can humans 'touch' It.

@@randomfools808 I agree. I enjoyed both movies, but I wish there was more of Pennywise just being creepy all on his own. The scariest scenes in both movies, in my opinion, are the scenes where Pennywise is just talking (Georgie, Eddie outside the house in chapter one, the fridge scene in chapter one, the little girl in chapter 2, taunting Richie in chapter 2)

The film implies Richie is gay for Eddie because of they way he treats him throughout the movie especially the end, the way he won’t let him go. The reason I think it skips over richies arc is because pennywise points out he knows his secret, presumably evidence that is factually true about his boy affinity. Also pennywise points out everyone Insecurities, that doesn’t make him a liar. Like he attacks the one guy on the premise of being fat because he was, another on the premise of creepy dad, because he was creepy, on a dead brother partially from negligence, and on mikes dishonesty by not telling them the Indians died doing the ritual. It would be an outlier if pennywise attack Richie on a baseless lie

Personally I'd argue some of the 'bad' CGI, works surprisingly well, because it takes advantage of it. It gave a lot of the horror aspects a very dream like quality, which along with the hazy memory and self discovery subplots, I feel works quite well. I even felt this in the ending effects, though admittedly from a purely technical standpoint, they weren't great.

I understand that it seems silly, but the idea of making Pennywise "small" was making it realize that they aren't afraid of it anymore and that it doesn't have the hold on them that it once had when they were kids.

The old woman part is actually one of the few scenes that I really liked in this movie. It wasn't the usually, "Bang! I jumpscared you", it built suspense and used the background to actually show something weird and creepy. I know, others find it funny because of the woman doing some weird shit, but for me, it was a great scene.

I agree with this but I feel the CGI was perfectly fine *spoilers below* The CGI yea was bad but it was ok in my opinion. The IT spider was fantastic for what It was. The old grandma was really fucking weird though. But I feel the CGI was perfectly fine for what it was. And I kinda agree with the whole the ending was goofy. I would have preferred a more evil threatening ending. I didn’t really want a red queen looking ass Pennywise get heart broken.

the reason IT has always been my favourite horror movie is because the horror isn’t just the brutal shit you see in most horrors, but that the scary part is appealing to your maternal/paternal instincts if you do have them. i was terrified for these kids and i hated that the adults weren’t protecting them from “it”, i don’t give a shit about adults having a hard time in horrors with some supernatural entity but as soon as a child is brought into the equation it’s scary that you can’t protect them.

My initial thoughts exiting the auditorium was basically this video. I mean literally word for word descriptions of my view on humor, suspense, emotion/character dev/storytelling, except the end was unsavory to me for the exact same reason. Some parts of stories can’t be depicted well because it lacks our own imagination and attachment that reading a book offers. And in regards to breaking worthwhile increasing suspense, the portion of the movie where each “Loser’s” fear is faced, some ended so abruptly or with drastic changes in attitude that left you, as you said, “self-aware” of the acting. It felt like watching a mini series about each character right before the epic conclusion was gonna happen. And you’re like, “Well shit the entertainment and gore value is here but can we hurry up and get to (the spoiler of spoiler) and (spoiler this fucking spoiler)”
