@Cherry This isnt true either. Four different characters have abilities that alter the ground in a way that blocks passage (molly), basically everyone except Raid, Sova, and Breach has some kind of ability that physically blocks passage/sight (which is the point of a smoke), and while only two characters have traditional flashes, other characters like Omen have status effects that are akin to being flashed. So any given utility type is certainly not locked to one character or another if you're thinking about it in terms of the way in which abilities are used practically.

@BlueLefty The only characters that don't have a noticeable amount of utility either in the form of map/vision control or information-gathering are Jett and Raid. Raid is poorly balanced and will likely be subject to change, but she basically just deals damage with her abilities, and Jett is basically made for the AWP role as she can use he dash to get into position for a pick extremely fast and thrives in post-plant scenarios where she can ult and wrack up multi kills and clutches.

The Tiananmen Square protests or the Tiananmen Square Incident, commonly known as the June Fourth Incident (Chinese: 六四事件; pinyin: liùsì shìjiàn in mainland China, literally the six-four incident), were student-led demonstrations held in Tiananmen Square in Beijing during 1989. The popular national movement inspired by the Beijing protests is sometimes called the '89 Democracy Movement (Chinese: 八九民運; pinyin: bājiǔ mínyùn). The protests started on April 15 and were forcibly suppressed on June 4 when the government declared martial law and sent the military to occupy central parts of Beijing. In what became known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre (Chinese: 天安門大屠殺; pinyin: tiān'ānmén dà túshā), troops with automatic rifles and tanks fired at the demonstrators and those trying to block the military's advance into Tiananmen Square. Estimates of the death toll vary from several hundred to several thousand, with thousands more wounded.

@UberDragon4 жыл бұрын
Three things I have to say: 1. Kernel access is not what makes Riot's anti-cheat different from many other anti-cheats. A lot of popular anti-cheats are on kernel level (examples such as easy anti cheat (used in apex legends, fortnite or paladins), or battleeye (used in pubg or rainbow six siege)). Any anti-cheat just like any anti-virus greatly benefits from having kernel access, as it makes them way more effective. If they're not on kernel level, then anything on kernel level (for instance a cheat program or a virus) can basically make that anti-cheat/anti-virus their bitch. Not having kernel access makes an anti-cheat or anti-virus very prone to manipulation from a virus or cheat. The difference is that Riot's anti-cheat starts right at system startup, which means you don't even have to play valorant to have this run in the background in some sort of idle-mode. Riot claims it doesn't do anything and tries to use up as little resources as possible while the game is not running, but it definitely is running at all times after you boot your system up. I can still understand that people don't like that, but the argument is a very different one, because kernal access is definitely not what makes their anti-cheat any different from most of the other popular anti-cheat solutions. 2. CS:GO has a random element in the bullet spray as well. For the most part it's a learnable recoil pattern, but there is some randomness applied as well. So no, it's not 100% learnable. 3. I think they could try to give more agents one damaging ability, instead of stacking them all on raze. I wouldn't mind some damaging effects, it's just that at the moment they're very stacked. Also Paladins is pretty cool, but I think Valorant is way closer to Counter Strike than it is to Paladins or Overwatch. When put directly next to Paladins and Overwatch I'd agree though that it's more Paladins then Overwatch. Overwatch has a lot of characters who don't rely much on aiming at all. In Valorant and Paladins aim will always be very important.
@alvohaga4 жыл бұрын
To your second point. Both games have movement innaccuracy and spread. Movement innaccuracy applies when you're moving and spread constantly. Spread is basically an individual inaccuracy value for each weapon, the idea behind it is to balance weaker weapons against better ones. (An smg could be deadly without it at long ranges). My point is that both have these but valorant's horizontal spray control is random and csgo's isn't. However you can get a "feeling" for the spray control. The changes of movement are very distinct, so you can still control it even if you dont do it from memory. I think cs 1.6 was similar.

@@alvohaga Oh well, yeah I'm not arguing it's bad or good or really anything, but it seemed like Charlie was under the assumption that the bullets are always 100% predictable in CS:GO, which they are certainly not. It could easily be a fact that Valorant's guns behave more randomly than CS:GO's, I haven't done any testing in that regard, as honestly for the most part the inaccuracy has a fairly small impact compared to the learnable recoil-pattern for the guns in CS:GO.

If we cared about grandma’s secret recipe for the perfect Christmas casserole, we’d find no issue in obtaining it strictly from user-mode and then selling it to The Food Network. The purpose of this upgrade is to monitor system state for integrity (so we can trust our data) and to make it harder for cheaters to tamper with our games (so you can’t blame aimbots for personal failure).". and from what I've seen, it works.

For example, the only reliable counter to viper’s ult being on the spike is to use an orbital strike, the only counter to a fire/poison/ice wall is Jett’s movement, the only way to peek heaven is to use a wall, and so on. The art *isn't* stock placeholders though. Here's a breakdown of the art style and why: Comparing it to 'tf2' was definitely on course, because from what I know one of the original art directors working on tf2 worked on valorant's art direction. This is a good thing. The main intention was to provide an artstyle where the characters would be clear at all times, prioritizing visibility of characters and abilities. The second priority they had was performance. Riot's a big fan of having their games work on toasters. Regardless of whether or not someone thinks it LOOKS good ISN'T the point, and is furthermore entirely subjective. In comparison, CSGO has pretty NICE looking art right now, but one of the issues that game has is visibility. With the more realistic lighting, and the desaturated muted palletes, and a lack of difference in the 'value' (greyscale/black and white values/brightness) of the characters from their environments, you run into issues where players are using skins and dark spots on maps to blend in. In CSGO's defense, they've put a priority on fixing these issues in the past year or so, but there's only so much they can do without drastic jarring changes, and this has always been an issue even before the custom skins were added. Valorant so far has had absolutely none of these issues, not even a hint. Stylization also helps to differentiate which character is which, very quickly. Even with the eventual addition of skins, it shouldn't be a problem. If the game had a say, more realistic style like csgo, even with the skins they added to that game it's definitely harder to tell them apart at a glance. That's because of their realistic muted practical clothing, more realistic faces, etc. The guns will always be harder to tell apart, but they're no harder to tell apart than the guns in CSGO. If it's not a problem in that game, I don't see it being a problem here. All of this is objective, and well thought out. Disliking it is fine, but I think a lot of people are going to miss the point if they don't understand the reasons behind why it looks the way it does. I'm sure the artists at riot aren't going to change it either, because they're sticking to their design philosophies, and I love them for that. Anyway, that aside, I think it looks pretty fucking great but hey that's subjective. If you disagree, feel free to tell me why, or hey tell me what sort of artstyle you expected.
@andrewgallagher76904 жыл бұрын
The weapons in Valorant all have the exact same design, which is jet black with small or any highlights, and (mainly the SMGs and rifles) look very similar in design. In CSGO, the only weapons I believe look similar are the MP9 and MP7, and even then, those are weaker weapons. The important guns like the AWP, AK, and M4 all have distinct designs and color schemes. I know that weapon design is pretty low on the list for “what make a game good,” but Charlie’s point is still valid.
@Bwooke4 жыл бұрын
@@andrewgallagher7690 I don't know about "what makes a game good" but I do know about "what makes an artstyle good". Charlie's point was he didn't personally like the artstyle, not that the art-style was making the game bad. That's fine, but pretending that's a point and not an opinion is wrong. I'm not attacking him or that opinion. You're free to believe that too. What I am saying though, is on a fundamental level, the art direction and decisions being made in valorant that have led it to look like it does are better decisions for the health of a competitive shooter than the ones CS made. CS never cared much about that anyway, it's aesthetic comes from the game's history, it's an evolution of the old artstyle it originally had. Back then, that art wasn't made with any kinds of radical thought or purpose like the valorant devs have applied to their game, it was just made that way because they wanted to make it look like that. And years down the line, it's had a few issues. That doesn't mean it's a bad artstyle, I like CSGO's art, but you're missing the point. Because of the way CS looks, they've been struggling with the visual clarity of the game on a minor level for a while now. Valorant is worried about visual clarity first and foremost, and had the privilage of being able to be designed with that in mind from the get-go. If you want to really dig into the valorant guns, you should have mentioned how skins will probably be changing the silhouettes and visual styles of them completely, and how that could potentially cause confusion when they're on the ground. But, that's the only time I think it even matters, is when the gun is on the ground, and you want to pick it up. And at that point, you probably know what it is. I don't think weapon model skins will make it any more of a problem than the skins in counter strike are. When the enemy is shooting at you and you die in .5 seconds if you don't shoot back faster, knowing what gun they have doesn't matter and you can figure out just from the audio/spray of it. Don't try to tell me you're ever paying any attention to what gun the enemy in CS has from a mile away while you corner peek them, you're focused on trying to hit their head. I do agree that there COULD be more diversity in the specific designs of the guns to make them easier to be told apart, but the way they're stylized and the level of polish put into those designs is good. The guns didn't sound like the primary issue Charlie had anyway, he was talking about the artstyle as a whole, but I think his opinion's off base on this one. I just want to provide context that could potentially make him, or anyone else reading this who agrees with him, possibly reconsider what they think and see this from another angle. A 'pretty game' isn't always a 'visually clear game', or an 'optimized, accessible game'. Assuming a game is unpolished or unfinished because of it's visual style is 100% missing the mark in this case.
@andrewgallagher76904 жыл бұрын
@Kahuna I was only talking about the weapons my guy. I don’t mind the art style, but the weapon designs are way to boring and similar, and are probably like that so people are more inclined to buy skins. Valorant became so unfun to watch for me that I wasn't even excited by the time I got the key (just a few days ago). However after playing it, I got my hype back for the game and where it can be headed in the future. My main concern is map design. CS:GO has map creation so ingrained in its culture, they have map competitions, iconic maps that have gone across decades, and public tools that anyone can make a map with. Thousands of csgo maps created by the community, dozens that have been tested on official Valve servers, and only a small handful that were able to make the cut and stay in the game permanently. I agree that the abilities are better than grenades, as it makes the game more dynamic. I hope that they have a set guideline towards what would be considered "balanced" and shape their champions around that guideline. It would decrease a force of a meta. As for the anti-cheat, I feel like Riot's parent company Tencent likely doesn't care about your personal data. But like what SomeOrdinaryGamer said in his video, it would be the people would want to find a break in their code to do something malicious. If anything, Riot should look at the current situation at Valve where a 2017 version of the Source 1 engine data was leaked. If that happens to Riot's anti-cheat, then you could be SOL when the anti-cheat initiates.
