​@toyboxworld1314 The thing is, they needed to have the reveal that the Matoran Universe was a giant fucking robot the entire time and having all of Teridax's plans be pointless in the end would be even more unsatisfying in my opinion. 09 was rushed, but it definitely needed to happen for the story that was planned to fully play out.

If I recall, the original plan was for the Inika team to get 3 years (Phantoka/Mistika would have rounded up the team fighting in all three elements), then we circle back to the Toa Nuva for a few years. But sales were dropping and Lego believed that it was because the story was getting too complex for new people/kids to get into. So they created the Glatorians as a soft reboot for new people to get into the franchise while keeping the main universe story alive through online serials. But sales didn't improve and they cancelled the planned next wave after Legends (It was supposed to have the Battera, dinosaurs, and even the Elemental Lords) and told the team to wrap everything up in 1 year, hence the limited Stars set.

Bionicle was originally intended to last 20 years even back in 2001, though they had to change the story because the Aqua Magna story was getting stale, then they ended it early because the Bara Magna story was even more stale

my understanding is the decision had been made to cancel the line in 08, but they had already fully developed everything for 09, which was intended to be a soft reboot, by that point. (LEGO product development starts around 2 years in advance of the final release) I imagine it made more financial sense to release everything they had worked on for 09 so they could get back the money they put into it via product sales, rather than just letting it all go to waste. The 2010 stars wave and its story were created due to a campaign by the story team to give the story a proper sendoff of some kind.

Piraka is an obscenity directed at thieves and murderers in Matoran. The 6 Skakdi we know as Piraka just thought that it sums it up quite well. Makuta's warlord Nektann, who lead his armies in the final battle, was called a Piraka by other Skakdi warlords ever since he switched sides after Makuta had taken over the world (and definitely not because Lego gave Nektann's toy a more recognizable name).
