There are plenty of videos on tiktok of women saying they divorced their husbands for no reason. Some, like Ricardo Kaká's ex-wife, even say their husbands were great or in her words, "too perfect", they just wanted a divorce. And a lot of these women make update videos crying about how they made a big mistake divorcing their husbands. Should wives pay their husbands for them being a personal security guard, car & lawn maintenance, disciplinarian for the kids, sperm donor, and emotional labor we have to endure? We can play this game both ways, Destiny. For example, a lot of people like to use the "she's accustomed to a certain lifestyle" argument. Imagine an ex husband saying he's accustomed to having his home cleaned by someone and sex every weekend. That won't fly with the courts. It's funny how we equate being a housewife to other jubs but can you direct me to one job in the US where you can quit it, and the boss will still pay you for years, sometimes even the rest of your life if you don't [get another job] / [remarry].

See, you've hit the nail on the head. It seems the esports organization doesn't even try to wield some power and influence on behalf of their competitors. And institutions like the immigration department don't take much notice of online publicity. Charlie, his lawyer and the top official from the esports organization should have made an appearance on CNN. Between them, they would have enough influence to swing that and they have a story to tell. Immigration might take notice of appearing unfair and arbitrary in the mainstream media.

Thank Republicans for making the route to citizenship a broken path filled with landmines, misdirection, and is really only intended to exhaust you and waste your money. Reminds me of Republican run state unemployment benefits sites that are designed to just wear you down and make you give up. My wife was laid off right around Covid and spent a little less than 2 months dealing with the Florida unemployment site and it intentionally ran her in circles with no true solutions. She had to try multiple different things to make it work. It feels deceptive, hostile, and spiteful. Coming from a government site it's a little scary to feel the venom towards you and your situation at a low point in your life, losing your job and all.

@swickens930
@swickens930 24 күн бұрын
I think his general point was that the courts priority is to stop the abuse and incentivise healthy relationships before deciding to end the marriage. In a lot of ways this makes sense because we already ask the state to oversee marriage contracts anyway. If it's this easy to get married and divorced, why have the state be involved in the first place. As of right now they're just a rubber stamp, and this rubber stamp is responsible for signing off on some of the highest levels of toxic marriages that ever came to be. Normally, marriage would be a social contract controlled by the church, but in return the church will council the marriage if it goes wrong, they'll provide a moral platform as to why you should make the marriage better, and the whole community might even come to help you with the marriage situation. You mention abusive relationships but isn't it better to try to fix and stop the abuse rather than just splitting the people up and sending the abuser out into the world? Only to rubber stamp his next marriage? So he can have ten shitty marriages instead of just one?

Most Americans don't seem to realize how dogshit the immigration system is. I'm a Canadian high school teacher who has literally no legal path to immigrate to the US, despite being in an in demand profession in an English speaking country literally next door. This is why a lot of skilled immigrants end up going to Canada, Australia, or the UK instead of America. It shouldn't be impossible for an in demand skilled English speaker to immigrate but anyone regardless of education, work experience, or English proficency can if they just have a relative already living there

@Robitrium are you sure it's not because of funding issues which are significantly worse in big cities that's leading to school closures? The brith rate is down we had a significant decrease of 23% but I don't ever remember the issue with schooling being low attendance. If anything classrooms are overcrowded. They even have this problem in tulsa Oklahoma which is not a big city at all. We have had several schools close down due to funding and they have made hybrid middle/high school centers to compensate for the closure of 6 middle schools. And our problem is specifically funding and teacher shortages. Oklahoma is a shit state and other states have been aggressively pulling teachers from Oklahoma with better pay and just a better quality of life then Oklahoma could ever provide.

I am pretty sure if i'm not mistaken on top of the issues the US Immigration already has, it sounds like there is one specific agent that is known throughout all of esports for doing this exact thing, and if you get him all you can do is keep re-applying and hoping to get someone else because he isn't going to let you in. It sounds to me, based on the agent's wording, that their specific nitpick is that because the cited tournament's requirements to participate aren't strict enough, their placements in that one tournament alone isn't sufficient evidence of their overall career prestige as a team. I think what they're trying to communicate (very poorly, admittedly) is that they want more history on the team.

I’ve been driving foreign flagged yachts for the past decade and a half, with mostly foreign crew, so I deal with US Customs a lot. It can be quite maddening. Nobody can agree on anything and the regulations are so vague that one person argues a different interpretation from the next, on almost anything. Your best bet is getting the documents to an easy office that’s known for approvals. Same for your port of entry. Have all the regulations spelled out in your documents, as professionally as possible. They generally have no idea what any of it means, so the more professional it looks, the less likely they are to question it. Everything is left up to the individual officers discretion. Figure out how to get to the right one.

I don't think it's a prestigious visa or anything. They basically just wanted the same one as the other teams he's been working with, who were able to get them with relatively little trouble. The lawyers would want the path of least resistance, specially when it already worked for the other teams. My guess is they just got unlucky with the person handling their case which, as someone who's gone through the green card process, can be a death sentence for these kinds of cases.

So, I am a dude that gave up a 45/50k a year job (in San antonio, so a pretty good wage), that I didn't like but it paid the bills, for a woman who i had been with for 3 years and got married too. We moved 3 hours away from San antonio so she could take a job that with benefits, bonus, and sallary included made 100k/yr. I started go8ng back to college. I got my associates degree and we ended up getting a divorce after that. Yeah it sucked, butwe ended up splitting the retirement accounts that we had started. Yes she put most of the money into it, however had she taken the job in San antonio I would have still made 50k and she would have made a wee bit more than 50k. At 1st she didn't agree with splitting it, but I think she realized why it was fair. In her mind because I didn't like my 50k a year job it shouldn't have mattered that I gave it up. Divorce tends too be "fair" to both parties when no kids are involved, and assets that were obtained after marriage tend to be split right down the middle. I say "fair" because I do also think it's "fair" when kids are involved but their "portion" of the finances should and do have significant importance in the divorce. It's no longer splitting assets down the middle, rather you split the assets down the middle then on each side cut out an equal amount for the kids. Both parents are expected to spend that much on the kids. Only one parent has the kids so only one person actually physically sends that portion to the other parent. Just because the other parent doesn't send any money doesn't mean that amount isn't also spent on the kid. It is ALWAYS (assuming you are an average person not making hundreds of thousands to millions) cheaper to pay child support instead of being the main parent. I once upon a time thought divorce was sexist against men but that's all bullshit. Do not let folks get away with this bs message.

If a husband paid his wife for doing her duties, even if they both agreed on how much is fair before, during and after, once she files the divorce she will claim the compensation she received wasn't enough. Even if she doesn't initially want to, the emotional drain from the process along with her lawyer advising and pushing her to take the position will inevitably lead to her doing so.
@nytemyst
@nytemyst 24 күн бұрын
I never really liked the argument of paying for her duties, or the idea of "un paid labor". Is the stay at home wife paying her half of the rent, groceries, water bill, electric bill? Monetarily no but it's being paid due to the house work she's doing. If anything men over value the work women do around the house. It would be cheaper to hire a maid, cook or eatting out then to support another adult.
@conradkorbol
@conradkorbol 24 күн бұрын
@@nytemystok so let’s actually work out what you said. Let’s say a maid require 35000 a year. A chef is like another 35000 And the wife costs like an extra 800 a month in food. Maybe like 15000 in trips and clothes and like let’s say like 500 a. Month in utilities. So staff will cost 7000 and wife will cost like like 30000 and works weekends, has sex with you and emotionally supports ylu. So her value increases. This doesn’t take into account neither of you having to take off work to take care of kids when they are sick or run them around. A nanny is going to cost even more. And then you have to consider that women work overtime too. The actual labor cost a woman is doing is likely a 100 000 dollars a year for full time staff and that’s not consideirnf weekends. So she costs less and allows the husband to work more and make more money and Jane more adavancenrs. So not only does she cost less she increases his profit. I agree if the man isn’t a business owner, or lawyer or doctor then the woman probate doesn’t add that value for the average person. But your notion that women don’t do more labor than you are acting like or don’t contribute value and not cost labor is wild. In order for a woman working be as valuable is for her to have her own business or show or law firm. And guess what? Some trad households have women who work part time
@nytemyst
@nytemyst 24 күн бұрын
@@conradkorbol Those are not unrealistic numbers for the average population. Those numbers are for someone living in a mansion lol. The average maid is around 120-300 per cleaning session. Most people have someone clean every 2 weeks but let's say once a week at worse case 300. That's only 14K. In reality it'll be a lot less then that. Personal chef same thing. Average price is 150-270 per week. I don't know why you bring up trips, sex. that doesn't have anything to do with unpaid labor conversation. Besides isn't the women also getting pleasure from sex? You can get emotional support from your friends, take trips your friends, have sex with people not in a relationship. All of which would be cheaper then having a wife/girlfriend. But i think you're missing my point. I never said women don't do have value or contribute value. Quite the opposite in fact. I said some men value that work so much they are willing to pay 100% of the bills even though it would be cheaper just to outsource her duties.

Referencing some random high-level person at EA who has nothing to deal with Esports is not the move. These lawyers sound like they primarily dealt with athletes, and esports is completely different because, unlike soccer or other sports, no one has ownership of it, and the only relevant party is the group orchestrating and hosting the event. To make this comparable, it would be like having a soccer team trying to get visas to play in an event and referencing a statement of the random man in Sub-Saharan Africa who created the sport. This just sounds like a child's approach to this situation.

Or, and hear me out: that’s exactly what they did, and Charlie while communicating to his audience, just phrased this in a choice of words that he felt like would flesh out his story. I’m sure that he also doesn’t work with lawyers as a bunch of individual people, but with law firm/s.

@@inopes3628 The fact he keeps bringing up this EA official sort of disproves your point. The lawyers are probably reaching out to him saying get a statement from an official (because they probably have no idea how esports works) and Moist is reaching out to the EA official. So both parties have no idea what is going on or what to do.

@@money.store.manager Yes, because his lawyers are telling him to get a statement from someone in the organization and because he has a child-like view of how the world works, he is going to EA and not the event organizers.

@@gpcarnage4881No he clearly stated that he was specifically instructed to get a statement from an EA executive. I don't understand where you got the idea that he was instructed to have someone from the organisation vouch for the team, it just seems you're making an assumption that contradicts the information provided in the video. And your assumption hangs on the idea that he would be dumb enough to bring in someone on his own without discussing the specifics with his lawyers, which just seems very unrealistic to me.

The rebuttal to the argument about "not being able to foresee into the future of a hypothetical marriage" is that you DO NOT get married until after a LONG time together, probably not until after the honeymoon phase. And if the woman is put off by that idea, then she doesn't really care about the marriage working in the long term, she just wants to have all the feel-goods of a wedding and the excitement of the new experience and the attention (especially online) and all the benefits that come with announcing such a major, surprise event to every one who knows her. Momentary happiness and elation during a single event is not going to save a marriage during the hard times. It's the long-term knowledge of the other person, mutual improvement and conflict management in light of a proper understanding of the meaning of such a life long promise is what's going to save a marriage during the hard times.
