Thank you. Still useful. If I win the lottery I would buy you another ae86 to replace your stolen one. Very sad. Hope you're enjoying life.

Hey James. I got it from the AE86PT.com forum, the portuguese forum for the hachi, but you can also find it over at aeu86.org. I posted the link in the description ;-)

Are the wheels bearings that easy to take out or replace? How did the brakes feel after all the new grease and replacement parts?
@MoleskineFan10 жыл бұрын
Well, the first thing i noticed is that my brakes no longer made a grinding noise when going in reverse gear (this was the initial motivation for the whole brake job). They were getting seized so i was also noticing a bit of permanent scrubbing between the pads and the rotors. After the rebuild, you feel a softer pedal but a stronger braking. It is easier to control the braking power with your foot, the overall braking becomes more progressive, I cant explain. Everything becomes smoother. As for the bearings, I only did it as a preventive repair, so there was no actual difference. However, clean grease will greatly improve the life expectancy of the bearings, as long as they are correctly tightened! Dont overtighten, follow the manual's procedures as I show in the video and your bearings will last you forever with clean grease regularly :-)

João Rocha da Silva You don not need a press to do these bearings?
@MoleskineFan10 жыл бұрын
Nope, they come out very easily unlike in fwd cars.

Thanks for the video! Would have loved a more in-depth on anti-rattle springs.. The service manual doesn't help much, and orientation is confusing. I guess some people remember how it was on before removal, but I always forget lol.

Hello.... can brakes of ae100 corolla Levin be installed on corolla E80... without much modification ??
@ToreDL878 жыл бұрын
Well, Silva had AE86, which is RWD, completely different from the FWD`s you ask about. The front hub system (E80 and E100 FWD`s have axle through hub from front transmission, AE86 which is Rear wheel drive has spindle through hub. To answer your question, If E80 (you did not specify 4E or 4A) and AE100 has the same hubs or at least drive shafts then yes you can swap brakes around. If not you have to change transmission as well and then its not worth it. you will need complete AE100 transmission with drive shafts, front struts, hubs the whole sheblang. Then its about what engine, different engine = different transmission. 4E-engine from AE80 = Different transmission from 4A-engine in AE100, the two don`t bolt together (unless bellhousings can be interchanged IF transmission is the same). All this for possibly a few mm`s bigger brakes with no bigger engine?.. Best for you to just stick with what exists and not re-invent the wheel, get EBC or Brembo discs and EBC Ultimax or ETF or Remsa pads, it`s a good combo for these cars, low noise, low dust, low wear, good pedal feed.

+ToreDL87 yes I know E80 is FWD n Ae86 is RWD... my question not related to video... just inquired about brakes in general... currently I have 3E... plan to change it to 4AGE.. So inquiring if Ae100 (FWD) can be fitted to E80... ?? Thanks for your response anyway
