There’s a good book I read years ago called “Zen Guitar” which talks about taking a meditative approach to guitar. The author says you should always work on improving quickness not speed. It’s a philosophy he suggests for every effort in life, and I have embraced it fully. Quickness is exactly as you describe it, a rapidly increasing perfection. Getting to that finish line balancing an egg on a spoon over and over until you’ve improved your pace, working on improving every step of the process, not just running at breakneck speed. It requires patience and diligence and the results are amazing. Improve your quickness, not your speed. Little by little shortening the distance between brain and hand, improving dexterity, reaction and response time.

Molly is of course amazing. In the interview she explains that she was doing this in her early teens so it didn’t take her decades. HELLO, Well, several years ago I bought a banjo after 54+ years of guitar. I must allow that Molly Tuttle does a good job. But she's handicapped by her obvious modeled style flooding male guitarists and what which she was taught. But, yea, she is good. On the other hand, now that I've reached a certain age with my musician career beginning as a classical pianist taught by my classical pianist grandmother and then a professional classical piano teacher, I now play only and exactly what I hear. It's freeing to play what's inside my head ... melody lines, scarred partial broken up triads, circle 5ths chord progressions, exactly what I hear. Years ago I am another country rock picker jumbled together harmonic dual lead lines from the theme from HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING ... it's that da da da dada dadah da dadah da dadah, da da da da da dadah daah dada daah dadah ... two joined in harmony leads. Oh, yes, the banjo ... I listened to Flatt & Scruggs and Roy Clark. I thought to myself ... hmmm, men's country banjo?? What am I? A woman who's lived in New York City and backwoods Underhill and Cambridge, Vermont. For over 4 years I hitchhiked back and across the whole USA sort of like hobo Woody Guthrie riding the Depression Times Trains. I made it to 46 of the 48 lower US States. So, what is my Woman Banjo Music Style? I call it Classical Folk Banjo where I play what I hear as melody lines accompanying my song selections like AFTER THE GOLDRUSH, WHEN JOHNNY COMES MARCHIN' HOME, ONCE I BUILT A RAILROAD, TEACH YOUR CHILDREN, at cetera. I think I remembered playing folk guitar open tunings from the 1960's and early '70's from those like Buffy St. Marie and Carolyn Hester. It's all music, and it's fun.

This woman's brains are connected in a very special way. Would be interesting to see/hear her play the sacred music of Mr Gurdjieff.

Wow, that’s a really useful video for seeing you actually touching the strings, it distinctly separates your playing and singing in a way that enables a fan to get an amazing insight into the amount of skill that you possess to be able to play that quickly and sing a the same time. I loved the view.

Some of the best flat pickin I've ever seen or heard and a lovely voice as well. Bluegrass can be some real hot rodded music. Better than any. A real show stopper. I remember the first time I saw Vince Gill. As a matter of fact maybe......naw that would be too good.
