This album was released after the death of their drummer "The Rev". You can hear and feel anger and loss in the lyrics and music. They had to get in another drummer to record the drum parts. Fiction was the last song "The Rev" wrote before his passing. Such an amazing musician.

@TheScorpio19999 ай бұрын
One of those albums that helped motivate me after my divorce in 2011. I had heard this album prior to that event but after the smoke cleared, well, you're left with time to think. Yes, that's as unsettling as it sounds but anyhow; Mike Portnoy recorded drums for this record as a reverse-tribute for the band as Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan died before this album came out. Gone too soon. "Victim" really hits home for me as it reminds me of my cousin who died in a car crash in 2004. We would have been the same age had he lived. So obviously, I don't write happy lyrics. This album reminds me of Metallica's "And Justice for All" in a way; how a band could pack it up, call it a day after losing a member and there wouldn't be any shame in it. But both bands chose instead to unleash the beast and let those emotions out in full force and I find that fucking awesome.
@mollyesanborn9 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing how personal this album is to you, they really pulled out all the stops on Nightmare and I think Mike did a commendable job filling in for The Rev after his passing. Really incredible how they managed to put out an album this good right after such a tragedy.

@@mollyesanborn Thank you for the reply! I especially recommended this album because you react on whole albums and not just single songs and this record is meant to be experienced as a whole. It is by far the darkest Avenged Sevenfold album(if you thought Nightmare was dark xD). Its very different from what you’ve experienced from the band so far. I think you’ll find listening yo this record to be a profound and thought provoking experience. One thing I would recommend is that you research the background of those songs beforehand. That will help you understand some of the choices made in this record. Cheers!

This is an amazing album in my opinion, Buried Alive being the best song of this album !
