Most people, I would say somewhere in the region of 99% of the planet, doesnt know who won any award, during any year. Its not relevant to pretty much everyone, uncluding you. Why would you prefer that thousands of people you don't know, who have vested interests in the result, disagree with you? Also it didn't deserve the oscar because it didn't win, if it was deserved it would have won. The oscars arent about who is the best but about who can be used the best. Two black people won years ago for mediocre roles. The year previously people made a fuss over black people not winning the big awards enough. Then two black people won the next year. One is a bad actress at the best of times and the other has had maybe a dozen better roles before the film they won for. Dicaprio won because he hadn't won before and was overdue. The movie he won for was ok, but not great. Doesn't matter. Leo would be happier with an award and we can slap "starring academy award winner" on the posters. Just this past year we had two Asian winners and a previously sexually assaulted former superstar. Thats because a couple years people bitched that asians weren't getting their fare share and Me Too gave Frasier a bump. Nothing against any of the winners but they arent winning on merit, its just attempts at social justice from the wealthy elite. Keep on watching though. I bet there will be an LGBTQ winner in the next couple years. Probably a trans person in a trans role in a movie that isn't very good but hits some good social notes.

Are whales really gentle people?
@dappiedocious4 жыл бұрын
@@psammiad well you can think of it in two ways. The simpler explanation is bad sentence structure. "They" refers to the Húsavík townsfolk, not the whales. Whales in their town can live cause they aren't hunted by the gentle townsfolk there (perhaps unlike in other parts of Iceland). Think of it written instead as: Where the whales can live---- cause they're gentle people in my hometown (Húsavík). Second explanation is the whales are likened to gentle "humans" themselves and thus should not be killed. I mean they're often referred to as "gentle giants" themselves. 😊😅

Molly, I'm 49, and for the 1st time in my life I have finally connected with another country and another language in a profoundly deep way thanks to your gift. Listening to you sing changes me. I cried every single time the first 8 times in a row through the whole song, with no understanding as to why, which has never happened to me before! You swept away to this place I've never, and somehow make me feel I had to have been born there in a past life. I am so grateful. It hit's me so hard when you start singing Icelandic. I had no idea the language looked so beautiful in script, and could sound so beautiful to music. Endless thanks to everyone involved, and every iteration, and you have become one of my favorite vocalists of all time. I hope it can bless you to know I typically do whatever I must to avoid any kind of singing, I listen to instrumental pieces almost exclusively, and you are at the top of a very short list of favorite vocalists.

I'm not sure if you're asking this as a rhetorical question or not but it's emotional because many countries around the world have to adopt English in lots of different situations including songs. This leads them to feel somewhat repressed and like they can't fully express themselves in their native tongue. For the characters to hear her singing unexpectedly in their native language makes them feel pride and like they are being properly represented, seen and heard by the world.
