Through the Red Hand Files , I made a request to NC to sing this when he came to Adelaide on his Conversations tour , in memory of my beautiful partner . To my surprise , he did just that , even mentioning her name . I sat there mouthing every word...and the tears just flowed . And they do every time I hear it . Beautiful song

My Father used to play this album on repeat. I have a fond memory listening to it as we were driving through the night, dark momentarily disrupted by street lights, no one on the road. I could feel at the time it was a thing of beauty, but didn't know years after his passing it connect me so strongly back to him. Tears flow every time I hear this song, unimaginably gorgeous. I was delighted that he played many more from this album on that tour.

I'm in floods of tears she came back into my life after 20 years. I saw her for the first time in 20 years and all the love came flooding back . Even if it is only friendship it will be enough.

I think this is arguably the most beautiful and heartwrenching ballad ever written. It so completely encapsulates the feelings of loss and longing unlike anything I've ever heard, in way that makes the longing and loss the subject, not the one doing the longing, or whom they are longing for. A masterpiece of raw emotion.

very well put. I recall years ago before marrying and having a family, the "one that got away" broke up with me after I said some just stupid things. This song just killed me every time I listened to it. Eventually I had to stop playing this for years. Close to the bone.

Love Letter Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds I hold this letter in my hand A plea, a petition, a kind of prayer I hope it does as I have planned Losing her again is more than I can bear I kiss the cold, white envelope I press my lips against her name Two hundred words. we live in hope The sky hangs heavy with rain Love letter love letter Go get her go get her Love letter love letter Go tell her go tell her A wicked wind whips up the hill A handful of hopeful words I love her and I always will The sky is ready to burst Said something I did not mean to say Said something I did not mean to say Said something I did not mean to say It all came out the wrong way Love letter love letter Go get her go get her Love letter love letter Go tell her go tell her Rain your kisses down upon me Rain your kisses down in storms And for all who'll come before me In your slowly fading forms I'm going out of my mind Will leave me standing in The rain with a letter and a prayer Whispered on the wind Come back to me Come back to me Oh baby please come back to me

Honestly. A song like this just solidifies his perfection as a poet, a songwriter, and an artist. This is as beautiful as some of the prose Shakespeare and Joyce wrote.

I wish I could send this song as a love letter to the one I love but I fucked it all up but got what I intended by pushing him away to make sure he could be happy without me. I used to think the cruelest thing was knowing I only have a short amount of time and that time will be shit because of my medical conditions but now I know it was meeting and loving him only to miss him so. I'm in the hospital as I write this, he will never know but I know he is about to have his first child and my heart is so filled with happines for him it almost takes away the pain of our heartache. Maybe this love letter will find him and he will know why I did what I did.

@patriciofernandez27116 жыл бұрын
Haha that's not the drummer, that's Warren Ellis, he's a multi instrumentalist and at the time he was mainly the violinist with the Bad Seeds. I assure you no one could just pick up a violin and get a single listenable note out of it, let alone make it weep beautifully like Warren does here.
