This monster caused a lot of anxiety for my mother. I was less than an year old and my mothers 3rd child. We lived in a country town were dark country roads were often traveled. There was my very young mother dealing with the daily struggles of 3 young child watching the news coverage of another young mother that had all of her children shot. Back then people didnt realize the horrors mothers were capable of. Mothers were seen as infallible so everyone believed diane and they were terrified that there was this strange man running around shooting kids. Like everyone else, my mother did start to realize something wasnt right but diane had already done her damage to the country and wasnt stopping. Fear started to turn to anger. My mother can retell that story like it happened yesterday. She not only hurt her own kids but hurt mothers around the country as well.

Cynical Atheist As I understand it, Yates had twice been hospitalised with psychotic depression prior to killing her children. She wasn't knocking off a lover on the side. Unlike Yates and Downs, her children weren't an inconvenience in terms of interfering with a relationship with a man who didn't want to be a Daddy. It's not unreasonable to conclude she was genuinely mentally ill and compromised by debilitating delusions. For me, it's diminished responsibility.

I’m not saying she is innocent but it seems she didn’t have a fair trial and here is why: Facts -No murder weapon -Prosecution violated - Brady vs Maryland- law to allow exculpatory material to the defense -Sworn Affidavit from defense attorney saying that prosecution withheld 383 leads that may have proved innocence -The shooter (according to the state) was well within the car and would therefore be covered with gun shot residue. Diane was not. -The shooter was covered with blood spatter and the ceiling of the car was . Diane was not. -The “alleged murder weapon” gun, Ruger #14-76187 that Diane was convicted with was subsequently found in a drug raid in Perris, California. Tests were run to determine if the ballistics matched the casings from the shooting site. They didn't!!! -prosecuting attorney would adopt the children and then have another attorney send a letter to their grandparents instructing them to not to visit them? _-at least 8 different individuals gave sworn affidavits that James Haynes confessed to be the shooter -Detective Welch allegedly insisted all records were destroyed to Federal Public Defenders but they weren’t -When Diane filed an appeal, Judge Malcolm Marsh made many decisions that could have easily have been decided in Diane's favor. -The trajectory of both bullets was upward at no less than 45 degrees. The evidence shows that Christie was lying down. Christie testified in court that she was sitting behind the driver's seat. She could have not been sitting and have both bullets travel upward. Christie was not a witness. -the governor, (according to Dianne’s father) two different times, sent letters so she could file clemency, but she says 'I won't do it, I won't confess to something I didn't do, she says 'I'll rot in prison'. She had chances to be let out but insists that she did not shoot them. -Daughter later said she doesn’t know who did the shooting and said it was her mom in order to be left alone and that she said what they wanted her to say. -A Nurse wrote that the son asked “why did the man shot” -Sketch drawing is similar to Haynes who confessed to be the shooter -Oregan legal system is known to be corrupt -DA on the case is later seen with Haynes -DA on the case leaves office and later defends the gang Haynes was part of -prosecutor has conflict of interest to send Dianne for life when he adopted her kids -prosecutor sent letter to grandparents to never contact the kids again -kids were never allowed grandparents to visit at hospital
