One of the worst things a parent can do to their child! My family is from Guyana 🇬🇾, which is in south America but also considered part of the West Indies because of cultural similarities; and one of my big sister got cursed by an ex friend of my dad who practice black magic. She used to go behind my parents back doing the do with him and when my mother found out, she didn’t do anything really although my sister was 14-15 at that time and the man was old enough to be her dad. My sister been sick since I can remember, she as lupus which is similar to cancer (she can die if she doesn’t take her meds). The worst thing is my mother is still in contact with the man who did it and even lied to us saying he was her big brother, I was disgusted when my dad told me who he really was. My mother used to beat the shit ouf of me (my other siblings too) when I was super young (think 4 till to not long ago cause I moved the fuck out), and she used to say that she’ll "beat the demon out of me". I feel like this is unfortunately normal in Caribbean household. At this point in my life, I really think my family is cursed, there’s so much shit in our family I could make a whole damn Bible or movie out of it.

My in-laws are from Guyana and my ex's mother literally treated my husband like he was her husband and not her son. She was extremely jealous of me, and hated me so much that I refused to leave my children alone with her or allow them to eat or drink anything from her. Her own husband of almost 30yrs divorced her because of the way she was acting, my kids are grown now, but she definitely scarred her daughters for life because she was jealous of their beauty, intelligence, etc. one turned out crazy AF just like her, and the other one is doing very well for herself. I'm proud of her and the life she's created for herself.

I don’t really understand Haitian Vodou. Talk to me about AfroCuban Santería, Palo Mayombe and Espiritismo all day but Haitian Vodou and Dominican 21 Divisions I’ve never been able to fully comprehend. However I got mad respect and love for Baron Samedi. Edit- Okay so I finished the video and these are my thoughts: In our Afro Caribbean religious traditions, there are times when practitioners and laymen can become influenced by negative spirits that can induce them into committing unthinkable acts. In my opinion, this can result from various things including a person’s spiritual weakness, consuming drugs and alcohol, behaviors that weaken the physical body and others. All these things can leave a person vulnerable to negative influence. The stories mentioned could be BS as far as Vodou’s involvement but I think it’s important to emphasize that it’s sounds like these people had mental problems to begin with and any involvement in esotericism could’ve sent them over the edge. There are times when a person’s spirituality is highly perturbed to the point where it manifests as mental illness. In this case a qualified and honest AfroCaribbean priest or priestess can certainly alleviate and elevate the person through spiritual works. But there are other times when people are just naturally perturbed and western medicine is really the best answer. Getting involved in these traditions may actually worsen their condition because they would not be mentally prepared to interact with these spirits and deities. My advice to anyone looking to get involved in the Afro Caribbean/Diaspora or Continental African (Yoruba, West Africa Vodun, etc) is to strengthen yourselves both physically and mentally. It is imperative that you work on your own spirituality FIRST before seeking to work with the Deities. In Latin Caribbean countries we use Kardecian Espiritismo in order to elevate our spiritualities and to get to know our own personal spirits and guides; the spirits that were born with us and who protect us everyday. How could you serve the Orisa, Mpungo/Nkisi, Loa/Lwa, etc if you don’t even know what spirits walk within your own spiritual court? Do you have a Kongo spirit? A Native spirit? A Gypsy spirit? STRENGTHEN YOUR SPIRITUALITY BY GETTING TO KNOW AND WORK WITH YOIR OWN SPIRITS!!! The Deities will be there to guide you when the time comes, but elevate your spirituality, Learn about your spiritual guides and protectors and everything else will fall into place because they will carry you forward. My opinion and advice. -Maceo el Moro

I live in Mississippi about an hour in a half outside of Louisiana. I have met plenty of people that practice the religion and it’s not like what people see on tv show it out to be, you have good people in this world and bad people in this world. Any religion can be use for good and bad & Also like she said in this video, you cant just start practicing it on your own like you can just walk in a church one day. Voodoo has to be taught in a certain way, same for hoodoo. People always think a person that do black magic is going to cast some type of spell on you like hell no they brainwash on what they see on Hollywood movies

Yet there are stories true on Children being kid napped and made a sacrifice this happen to my God daughter/ little cousin when she came to Haiti with here older sibblings and she had to go back to you because at the time she was like a baby around one years old and there was nobody to take care of her her father couldn't take care of her older siblings because they was going to school at the top and I told my mom I would watch her for you guys but my mom will say no focus on school you're in your twenties and I want you to finish to get your Master's and get a another and I want you to remarry and have another kid. So basically what happens when she went to Haiti mom was staying with her and what happened was like she was kidnapped in the house our grandmother who couldn't really hear Too Well was watching her while her mother was working and somehow they found a way to kidnapped her without her grandmother knowing so I'll grandmother called her and she didn't answer so she checking the living room to see if she was there playing still while she was cooking and cleaning she was not even there and then when her mother came that's what happened so basically what happened was somebody in the family who knows somebody kidnapping sacrifice thank God prayer prayers from people and prayers from come to church and everything saved her now she's 12 years old and her mom is now in the United States for good because at the time she couldn't get into the United States we tried everything to get her to stay in the night States for good but she couldn't now she's here for good and she can take care of my twelve-year-old goddaughters cousin and be with her family.
