A desperate mom was filmed as she dropped to her knees when a cruise ship left her and her husband behind while their three children were on board. The 4,000-passenger ship was dockside preparing to depart for New York when the woman's husband noticed she was missing. He was driven away in a buggy to look for her, leaving their three children on board. Minutes later, the ship's horn blew as it sailed off. There only option at that point is to be taken to the pilot boat and maybe get a ride to the ship as it maneuvers out of port, but, that may not be an option in every port. If even available it is expensive and dangerous to transfer from the boat to the ship. Moral: make sure you on board BEFORE departure time. Hurtigruten gives you a 5 minute warning horn and then they leave ON TIME.😮

Missing ships movement at anytime is a very serious offense in the Navy. People don't understand the amount of money and planning it takes just for a smaller Naval ship to get underway. You have to pay tugs and a pilot to guide the ship out. Not to mention having to merge with shipping until you get into open waters. I can't imagine all the different complications a cruise ship actually has to go thru. i.e customs and such if in a foreign port.

A cruise ship with 5000 people on board does not wait for you, you aren't that important. The kids were with family, even if not, they can't exactly go far it's a cruise ship and the cruise line would have made sure they were supervised. OK, so the uncle was with the kids. The cruise line waited an extra HALF HOUR! no disaster here.
