A local Secret Santa is giving $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season and the East Idaho News elves are helping out.
Every day, from now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting a Secret Santa surprise, and today, we are in Blackfoot visiting Brandi and Levi, the parents of two adorable children.
Their 6-year-old son Harry was recently diagnosed with pectus excavatum, a condition where the breastbone sinks into the chest. Of the types of this condition, Harry has the most severe because his breastbone is concaving both in and out.
It's very serious and without a brace, he would require a very invasive surgery that would include breaking most of his rib cage.
The family is trying to avoid the surgery, so Harry is wearing a sternum brace for 23 hours every day. The braces are not covered by insurance.
Harry is wicked smart and loves encyclopedias and learning.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to pay Brandi and Levi a visit with some early Christmas gifts. Check out the surprise in the video player above!

I'll never understand that of the US. Well, yes I understand how it works, but I don't understand why the government thinks it is okay. I"m in Canada and the province will pour whatever money is needed into a disabled child's life. Once they turn 19, they transition to adult funding programs to get assistive equipment, for them to hire their own care workers. and more. Nothing is perfect, but the US system breaks my heart to know that parents can hardly get the bare minimum for their children.

Im in the UK, and every time those words are spoken, it just makes me angry!! Thank God there is someone out there in the guise of Secret Santa, who is insanely generous, and the people at EIN who deliver these amazing gifts. I wish this beautiful family well. Sorry, but America is an insane country when it comes to health insurance!! In the United Kingdom, we have a health SERVICE, which serves all of the people and is free at the point of need. ​@RonM-fr8ft We do pay something called National insurance in the UK. It's a fraction of what the people in America pay. Our health care is not free but it is not charged at the point of service/care. Adults do pay a fee for dentistry.Nobody has to pay for medical aids, they are supplied as part of the NHS service. Everybody pays a percentage of what they earn so that anybody who needs it can get the care they need without forking out thousands of pounds in medical bills. Americans need to start realising that they have been brainwashed into thinking that their health care system is OK. It's not. A child shouldn't have to need hand outs from a secret Santa for essential equipment.

There’s a KZbin family, Arms Family Homestead, whose daughter the doctors have monitored her for years. She is now 16 years old. She has the same condition. Seems it’s actually hereditary her father has it too. She’s recently had to have the brace surgery to have it put into her chest. I cringed as they explained the surgery. She will wear the brace/bar inside her chest for a couple years and then there will be another surgery to remove it. Prayers for this young man and his family.

Insurance doesn't cover his needs? That's the problem. A brain aneurysm and the surgery to save my life wasn't covered for me. We would have lost everything if I wasn't tempered the way I am.
