I once had asthma so badly that just breathing hurt. My throat was raw my voice had gone down a couple octaves. I got maybe an hour or two of relief from spicy ginger beer or fisherman's friend lozenges. And hot steamy baths and showers helped to ease the pain. But that's it. It's pain relief. You need medicine to really stop the symptoms. I would sit outside the back door to my apartment with a blanket wrapped around me and my knees drawn up. It was something in the apartment I'd just moved into. I coughed so hard my whole upper body hurt!

I have asthma and that’s absolutely INSANE that hospital just let her walk out of there because they weren’t her parents. WHAT IF her parents were out of state? WHAT IF they just got arrested or something where it stopped them from getting there right then and there for this EMERGENCY to sign a piece of paper for treatment…this is disgraceful on the hospitals part..and of course the parents part for not even thinking this is an emergency to take her!!! She can’t breathe!! Any level of an asthma attack is an emergency.

I got accessory after the fact of an assault and battery and I got 48 months in prison how is it that I got more time than these monsters who murdered an angel. Nothing will change about these laws until we the people literally go sit on courthouse lawns and demand for them to change

JS should have called an ambulance. She was at her house for a sleepover. Don't just take her home.

Please rewatch the video. She took her to the hospital, sleepover parent, but they refused to treat her due to her not being the parent. Pay attn.

@@duffalex24 that guy misspoke. No hospital would refuse an emergency. Goodness. And an ambulance is not the ER. The ambulance give breathing treatments on scene. 😒🙄

As a mum with kids with asthma, the more foremost thing in mind was making sure they had theyre inhalers on hand and it was different for every child so onhand was paramount, I think in this case it was really lazy thinking, a quick fix of someone elses dose could work AND LACK of keeping up to date of the inhalers or meds...........this poor child suffered all the neglect xxx

So no one thought to call 911??? Every adult failed this child.

I wish the friends mom would've just called an ambulance it's just home straight to the ER

My daughter was wheezing the day before Christmas eve. She tested positive for the flu. But I stopped my last min shopping plans and rushed her to the ER. That is always an option. No excuse!

I don't drive. Nothing to do with law. I just never have. Long, personal but boring story. My kids have and get medical care.

People don't realize how quickly asthma can tank a person. I'm a nurse.. I used to do pediatrics. I had this one patient who was about 8 years old. She was in a vegetative state and had a tracheostomy in her neck and was oxygen dependent... and also suffered from seizures. Come to find out in her history she was born a normal little girl who happened to suffer from Asthma. One day when she was 3 years old she was having asthma symptoms through the day. Her mom had her use her pump and gave her multiple nebulizer treatments. Her symptoms continued and finally her mom told her they were gonna have to go to the emergency room. The child was crying she did not want to go and ran upstairs away from her mom. Her mom went up to get her and the little girl peed on herself thinking that would make her not able to go to the hospital. Instead of the mother just changing her pants and getting her going..she put her in the tub to bathe her. The little girl had such a horrific asthma attack that it killed part of her brain due to the lack of oxygen which is why she needed up the way she did. And the seizures were from the brain injury due to the lack of oxygen. Smh. Just take your kids to the doctor when they have an attack. Better safe then sorry.

As someone who is asthmatic…. Having a steam shower can help with opening the airway But the fact this lil girl was to the stage she was in … nothing other them medical intervention would help I know a mother who did pretty much a similar thing Her daughter was at a sleep over with my friends daughter & she started to have an asthma attack She called her mother & her month ears response was “oh she’ll be fine just tell her to not muck around” My friend ended up calling me asking me what to do & i said come get one of my ventolins I was angry bc it doesnt take much to prevent attacks or minimise one if you start to have one (obviously depending on the severity) If i had been the friend who was told to bring the girl home & it was to the point she couldnt even walk … I would have just put her in the car & taken her to the hospital & deal with the other issues later This is so preventable its not funny She should have got more then 4yrs & he’ll be in for a rude awakening if he takes it to trial
