If this is supposed to be such a bad kidnapping and Bertha is doing something wrong, then ask yourselves why is it at 4:44 Bertha moves closer to mum with baby squealing and reaches out to touch her.. The touch appears to be a comforting reassuring touch with a look of care and concern... The mom starts communicating back to Bertha shaking her head in agreement with Bertha. Mom then gets up with baby clinging.. and moves a bit further away from baby and Bertha... This is confirming trust.. in Bertha! Mom is trying to comfort baby from a distance.. reassuring baby she is right there... She is not uncomfortable and is not in distress at all.. The baby is in distress because like most babies... It's used to only it's mom.. and it clings to mom.. it's afraid... I believe people are missing this behavior because you are reading the captions on these videos which are designed to spark outrage and emotion. The captions are misleading and are being done that way to increase viewers.. We cannot allow the captions to confuse us and mislead us and we must study the monkey's behavior... These two mothers are in agreement with whatever is going on.. and I believe it's an attempt to break baby.. as we continue to see so often with these monkeys... It is not a kidnapping in the bad sense but a breaking of the baby so to speak.. getting baby bonded and used to another member of the family.. And usually the monkeys that do this have earned the right to do so by grooming the mother and child and by paying special attention and spending significant time with them.. the trust is then turned over to them and they start the process of bonding with baby.. It looks so harsh because this is usually baby's first time separated from mom and is screaming to get back close to it's mom.. It's all natural responses and this is a beautiful thing happening but ONLY IF YOU HAVE A MIND OF YOUR OWN AND YOU TAKE THE TIME TO REALLY STUDY THIS MONKEY BEHAVIOR AND NOT BE SWAYED BY THE TITLES WHICH ARE MISLEADING BY DESIGN TO INCREASE VIEWERS.. If you didnt know, the way it works is a higher ranking female kidnaps baby of lower female to starve it to death, so her own babies will have more troop resources ; kidnapper is often a mom or pregnant you can see this one has teats she is pulling kidnapped baby off from suckling that is bcus she wants it to die it is in competition with her baby! ...If the momma stood up to her she would get beat up by the troop. She may communicate in a submissive way to appease kidnapper woth looks or gestures grooming lipz smiles etc. She usnt "allowed" by her societies rules to grab her baby from a higher ranking monkey. She can stay nearby so as long as the baby sees mom it will not give up abd will cry n try to get free to mom. If it doesnt see her it will prefer to be on kidnapper than on ground alone and not try. She hopes the baby breaks free bcus if it does run she can grab it before kidnapper does then she can flee with her baby. Or hope kidnapper gets bored or too annoyed by baby making her work to keep him under control that she just lets him go. Sometimes alpha males kidnap but often kill baby immediately in violence or eat it bcus nursing mom wont get pregnant so he kills baby and puts her back in heat and mates her to ensure any baby is his genes. Both male and female priority us to want their own genes to survive. However sometimes a mommas femake relative like aunt sister older daughter will "kidnap" to give her a break and practice mothering and show baby around - but "aunties" do not keep a baby very long and if it went for aunts teat she may nurse it or give it to mom shortly to nurse not starve it.

I really think Big Birtha is a friend of Carla's. She doesn't ever mistreat Charles & the fact that Carla is close by & doesn't seem upset that bIg Birtha has her baby, I think she is trying to tell him he is fine! I really think this is s babysitting instead of a kidnapping. Look when Charles gets away from Big Birtha & gets back to his mommy Carla & Carla pulls away & even walks away from Charles & let's Big Birtha take him back. I do not agree. Bertha has already kidnapped several children and still treats them the same way. Most often he holds their genitals in his mouth, pulls their tail, bites their legs or body. The little ones get away and the mother monkeys sit close and are afraid to intervene. Bertha is high in the troop hierarchy.

No its an exercize to strengthen the hierarchy let the lesser ranked females know they better behave and that they can take their babies when ever they want and nothing they can do. This is very important as things can get sloppy snd they all depend on the tight structure of the hierarchy to survive. I used to think that female s taunting the mother the way she walks around gets up close then attacks if the mother tries to get the baby. And Mekala I swore she had a smug expression when she had someone’s infant she was taunting the mother saying I dare you….Its all a way of keeping them aware of their place and who is in charge.

Like it or not Monkeys are still evolved to deal with things that require the group to function...No baby monkey will create the next symphony, or discover the cure for cancer because the mother did not rush them off the breast folks...But? you might get a Brutus...a strong, protector who can see to the group;s well being. Wow, I actually see Carla backing up and away from Charles. Is it possible that this is a little bit of educating that Carla is giving her son about socialization? Who knows. I don't know if Carla has chosen to allow Bertha to babysit for awhile while she gets a break, (highly doubtful) or if Charles gets so scared when he sees Bertha coming that he freezes up allowing Bertha the opportunity to appoint herself the job of babysitter and carry him away. But one thing I do know, Carla does not abandon him leaving him at the mercy of Bertha's handling to be confused or wondering if mom will ever be back. She stays close by talking to him and reassuring him that she is not leaving him and that she is within reach of her precious baby boy. Unlike some mother's including Bertha herself that take every opportunity to wander over to the roadside cafeterias, to enjoy themselves a little smorgasbord while baby is being dragged all over God's green earth fearing for his life. Typically the babysitter gets bored, or maybe even realizes that the baby must nurse and will eventually release them back to momma or they get that second or two when the sitter or kidnapper are caught off guard and baby escapes, but we know that Carla patiently waits and will be right there with open arms . I hate when Charles or any of the babies get separated from mom for any reason, but obviously it happens all the time. Let's just hope that the mother's stay close to them so that they have that little bit of comfort in knowing that mom's right there, and at any given moment when the opportunity arises......They can run like hell to get into momma's arms.

Mary Chiki ,sorry to say you are absolutely right. Unfortunately this is an old video and much has changed including Carla's parenting or shall I say lack of parenting skills. Carla used to be such a gentle and attentive mother, always teaching him and directing him in a no nonsense way and yet cooing and caressing him as a mother should. Obviously a lot of these monkey's behaviors are changing and it is starting to be really disturbing to even watch. There are many different opinions as to why, such as the over eating of foods that their bodies aren't used to eating. Processed foods that are high in additives, fats, salts, high sugar and on and on not to mention just over eating and obesity and l the disease that comes with it. They are acting different in .any ways that I have noticed. They have always kidnapped, however not to the extent in which they do now. They are a lot more violent with the babies it seems too. Maybe it's just that the videographers concentrate and focus more on it, I don't know but these mother's just don't seem to put enough effort into keeping, and retrieving their babies. I just am starting go come to the conclusion that if its a bunch of tight knitted loving families of monkeys that adore their young and protect them with their lives.....these are not the species to be watching. I myself am getting tired of watching the daily abuse of these babies, and the continuous gorging of food by the rest of them. I am still checking in on them from time to time because I have watched several generations of them being born and have become attached, however I am watching other primates that seem to be more family oriented and peaceful. I am enjoying them a lot more by far.

Big B is a higher ranking monkey, she can get baby to hold for as long as she wants. And another rule is real mother to stay away from her baby when it is being held by higher ranking monkey. With time real mother will eventually get baby back, usually without any harm done to baby. I noticed that when newborn got a little older that she has let go of snatcher and tries to walk towards real mother. That is a good example of self-inoculated stress which puts baby in survival mode, sort of like adrenaline works, gives baby the urge and the energy to try to get back to real mum.

Mothers could do more to help stop kidnapping by making it a bad experience for the kidnapper. Sever wounds to the kidnapper is good. But the Macaque seem to have lost the will to protect their young even if it acquires killing or wounding the kidnapper. They seem to be afraid of any action. They have become cowered. The love for the baby isn’t great enough to bring out the natural mother instinct to fight for the Saftey of the baby.

Dorine Lanni They can't. It's the monkey hierarchy. Bertha can take baby Charles and hold onto him for as long as she wants. Carla is not allowed to take her baby back because she's lower in rank. She has to either wait for Bertha to let him go and give him back or she has to wait for Charles to escape and find his way back to mom on his own.

Dorine Lanni its not just the hierarchy because lower ranks take their babys back all the time if they aren't as concerned for there social status as they are their babys comfort. Look at Popeye keep SP from Amari. Anyway, it's also widespread fear of injury to the baby. For some reason a majority of the monkey moms are about tough love and learning the hard way most of the time, but when it comes to tug of war with a kidnapper they will avoid all conflict. Some situations seem completely safe and the mom still won't engage in physical opposition for fear the baby will be hurt. If makes sense i guess, the kidnappers see the kids as toys and might gladly rip one in any half to keep half for themselves; I mean we've seen many babies die at the hands of kidnappers. Now, I have a question of my own that I can't figure out and I can't find the answer anywhere, but what the hell is Bertha doing? She's simply putting her mouth over the genital, anus and in between area of the kids like as if she's hot breathing them. She's just placing her mouth over the area, not sucking or biting; what the hell is that, oh my God it's driving me insane not knowing why this dumb bitch is doing this weird shit? if anyone knows please advise it would help with my sanity.

I wish that horse was mine! Solaris Sport Horses have the most heart wrenchingly beautiful horses in the world.That profile pic is one of their stallions. They are in Ireland. That would be the only reason i would set foot out of Texas, USA. That ,or one of the Mustangs the US gov. keep screwing with. Is your paint a stallion? How does anyone know that these monkeys that are stealing babies are not family members. They could be the fathers siblings. The father wants to raise the baby one way and the mother another way.
