I've heard so many people who are fit say, don't let a lack of motivation stop you from exercise. No excuses. Just do it anyway. This is the same idea I apply to doing homeschool everyday. Just do it anyway.

I am not yet homeschooling, but preparing to do so once my daughter is old enough. Thanks so much for the great advice. 😊❤️ I am also battling chronic illness but my issue is that I literally never have energy. I am almost to the point of being homebound. Even when watching my daughter for an entire day, I crash the next day. However, I really want to homeschool since I want to instill Christ into her. Any advice for a Mom like me would be golden. Thanks for all you do.

I’ve been working on independence with my 8 & 5 year old. Last year we started doing reading & summary independently with my 8 yo. This year they do math independently after the lesson, typing, morning writing & fill out their planners on their own & they do things in the same order every day. Next year I’ll bump up the amount of independent work for them. I would love any extra tips you have for teaching independence!

Teaching independence is so important! I feel like I’ve only really gotten a good handle on it this past year, and just in time my guys are in middle and high school. I made up a daily learning routine for my teens that spells out what order I want them to do their subjects, how many pages to do, when breaks are, and our schedule for family subjects. I don’t even need to plan with those in place, I just check off school for the day on our attendance sheet and that’s it! I would be interested to hear how you teach independence as well.

I would love to see how you cultivate independence. It’s our 1st year homeschooling, my daughter is in 5th grade - we mostly use MFW. At about 2 months in, we (of course) struggle with line between parent and teacher, and are still learning how to steward the new level of independence/responsibility.

I am also interested in a video about how to encourage kids to be independent. I know I am doing good on some things, but I feel I could use some encouragement on the topic and always love to learn new tips on how to help my kids go even further! My son is only starting first grade and my other kid is only 2, but I know from my research on Montessori that they can start early with so many things that aren’t advertised to Mom’s on the daily.
