Mom Shows Baby To The Gorilla, Zookeepers Scream When They Saw Its Reaction!

Michael and Emme took their first trip as a family with their newborn son Canyon. They went to the Boston zoo and headed to the newly renovated Gorilla Grove to see the gorilla family. At the location, Emme drew the attention of Kiki, a female gorilla, to her son Canyon. The gorilla approached the young family, not taking her eyes off Canyon. The zookeepers screamed when they saw what she did next, and all the people in the room scrambled to grab their cameras and record an unexpected moment of bonding between mothers of different species.

I loved that. My daughter & I went to the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester New York & my daughter was nursing her baby boy & a chimpanzee came over with her baby she was nursing & kept looking at my daughter nursing her baby. She showed us her baby & it was very special. That was almost 23 years ago.

I drove two hours each way to take my son the zoo. He was only interested in the gorillas. he was stroller little and we would sit there with him face to face through glass almost an hour, eat lunch, drive home. Two of them recognized him and would sit with him each visit. This lasted until he was an adult. When the gorilla passed he was invited to the memorial service and then to the opening exhibit featuring it at a museum. We both cried like we lost family.

On my son’s first birthday we went to the Woodland Park zoo. A baby gorilla came up to the window and both babies put their hands to the window. Everyone quietly took a step back and just watched quietly. The mother gorilla came up to check on her baby.

Almost 35 years ago I was with my husband and 3 year old son at the National Zoo, along with my 3 month old daughter. She needed to be fed, so I sat in the Gorilla's indoor viewing area. I noticed that the gorilla across from me was nursing her baby as well, and we both watched each other, connecting through the glass. It was beautiful.

I saw a gorilla go to a young boy when he fell into the gorillas enclosure and it was so heart warning to see how the gorilla took care of that small child. Animals are mothers too 🥰 And in alot of cases people are far more cruel to their children than animals are. Sad truth but truth nonetheless 🎉

It’s been shown that the great apes do remember people they’ve interacted with before. Have a memory like our. so Kiki may have actually had a wicked best be described as a dusty memory of them. And it just took her a few minutes for it to resurface. Just like if you meet somebody today and you don’t see them for 34 years do you think you’re gonna remember their name or them? I would not try that in the wild, but as we stated, she was raised by human so she’s had hopefully nothing but good experiences around humans and while she doesn’t know her own strength, I think she was able to realize that being around little ones need to be careful.

I love Animals and this story shows that a beautiful Gorilla mother is exactly like a good human mother. Also that we are primates ourselves and that Gorillas, Orangutans and other primates are our relatives. This was such a beautiful moment between two brilliant, loving and caring mothers just showing there little boys to each other and now they are bonded for life. FYI - human DNA is 99% identical to chimpanzee DNA, 98% to gorilla. Female gorillas have VERY STRONG maternal instincts. Years ago, there was a female gorilla named KOKO who was trained to hand-sign and then to use a push-button language machine. She could converse with her teachers. She was a cat-person, had a kitten that had a URI when they got it for her, and it died. Koko mourned for quite awhile... eventually, they got her another kitten and they were a fine little family. When Koko died, I mourned. For a gorilla, she was a nice lady. And I happily admit she was my cousin.

There is no way i would ever put a baby up close to a wild animal, even if it was raised by me! Even with a dog or cat, i would wait until the baby is a little bit older! Overprotective? Maybe so, but it only takes a few seconds for a life of regret!!!
