The scenes between Rocky and Adrian in this movie are simply some of the best husband-wife-interpersonal moments captured on film. And Burgess Meredith’s performance is freaking awesome.

Call me a sap, but the love between Rocky & Adrian is the real story here. He would do anything to provide the best for her, and she believes in him without wavering. I've never understood why anyone would do that for a living if they didn't have to. I suppose as long as there is a demand for bloodlust, someone will supply it. I just don't know how anyone can endure/inflict that much brutality and survive it long term. Rough way to make a livelihood!

Rocky is definitely underrated in the modern era. A lot of people know how amazing it is, but a lot more people write it off because "it's old" or they "don't care about boxing" so it's far less regarded than it used to be. This is especially true for women, who almost universally adore it when they actually see it, but who tend to avoid it because of the obvious subject matter.

@@gabrielp9646 "No. It´s actually better regarded than ever before" That is true. I remember when I first went onto IMDb message boards back in the mid-2000s era and so many film snobs would trash Rocky for being sentimental junk and they would always rip on Stallone's acting. Nowadays, it's on the IMDb Top 250 and love for the film and Stallone himself are pretty universal. And Rocky reactions are very very popular on YT. Its reputation has definitely improved greatly in just the last decade and a half.

One thing I love about Rocky. Yes, he wasn't smart, and people talked bad about him. He has strengths in other areas. He was loyal, kind, loving, strong, compassionate and respectful. He was smart enough to know what the world is and strived to be better and didn't others dictate his actions. You can see why Adrian loved him. She loved him for the man he was. Not what he could give her. Rocky did not win every battle and he struggled but his resilience is what his true strength is. Adrian deep down was his strength of heart.

I suggest Cinderella Man (2005), the amazing story of a real boxer, set during the Great Depression, starring Russell Crowe, Renee Zelwegger, and Paul Giamatti. Like the Rocky series, Cinderella Man is really a story about the man and his family, with some true, and amazing, boxing matches mixed in.

The only problem with Cinderella Man they turned Max Baeur into a villain. Baeur was destroyed when he killed that man in the ring. For some reason the movie makers filled they needed to turn it into white hat/black hat.

GREAT reaction to part of my favorite series of all-time. I remember watching this in the theater on opening night and it being before the internet and spoilers, none of us knew the conclusion. During the fight, the entire sellout crowd -- at the theater -- was on its feet, screaming, as if we were actually at the fight. Finally, I'll add with this -- Apollo becomes my favorite character in the entire series -- while he is the antagonist, he is never the villain. One more thing, if I may -- after you watch Rocky IV, please watch Stallone's director's cut, which he released this past January. Thank you!

15:15 The ancient Greeks had a word for that. Unfortunately I don't remember what the word was, but I heard it in a documentary about the original Olympics. One of the historians was saying that the ability to endure and persevere in spike of pain and injury was greatly admired, and he gave the example of a boxer name Eurydamas of Cyrene. Eurydamas was punched so hard that it broke his teeth. He didn't want to spit out the broken teeth because letting his opponent see how much damage his punch had done would have emboldened him, and he didn't want to hold his teeth in his mouth because he could aspirate them and choke on them, so Erydamas swallowed his teeth and fought on until he knocked his opponent out. Winning the fight made him an Olympic champion, but when people found out how badly he was hurt and that he kept fighting and won in spite of that, his courage and perseverance made him a legend that is remembered more than two thousand years later.

Easily one of the best sequels for me for so many reasons. What I loved is how serious Apollo was in this one. No more glitzy entrances, showboating...nothing. He was no longer trying to portray himself as the hero (not sure if that's the right word to use) of the two, like he did the first time. It was about his reputation and pride. This made the stakes higher for me because of how focus he was, making the final showdown much more climatic. Another thing, that I love about Rocky (my absolute favorite franchise) is that heart is the driving force of his motivation. First movie, it was his love for Adrian that pushed him to go the distance--he finally had something worth fighting for. The same goes for this one, but this time it's his son that's added to the mix. He had no heart in the fight until he had her support. His love for her speaks volume as has always been his driving force for so many of the sequels, in my opinion. WIN ROCKY WIN!

The scene with Adrian asking Rocky to do just one thing for her, "win win" as the music keys in gives me goose bumps every time. ... You were wondering why Rocky isn't talked about much. It was back in the day of these movies. It was so popular there's a Rocky statue near the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. People gather there for pictures like a national monument and then make their attempt running up the stairs. Its a right of passage for a lot of runners and people getting in shape to run up the stairs and do the arms up celebration.

They all give you goose bump moments which not many movies do. The typical mistake which prevent most people from watching the first one is they go in thinking its a boxing movie, but it at its core is love story. 13:15 Yes, it absolutely is. When I got married, I told my wife she didn’t need to work, but if she wanted to, go ahead. That was in 1996. She held some jobs here and there, but once we had our son, I wanted her to stay home so we didn’t pay for someone else to raise him. Our daughter came six years later. After the economy crashed in 2008, she started working for her dad, so she still had the kids with her when they weren’t in school. In 2013 I was medically retired from a sheriff department. While I was still getting some money in the form of my retirement pension, it wasn’t even close to what I used to bring home. Then we discovered my wife was sick. I was still fighting to get my disability because no one would hire me due to the injuries I received working LE. She had to continue working for about 3 years until I finally won my disability case. While I wasn’t able to work and she had to, I slipped into depression. I didn’t just sit around the house though. I took the kids to school, I cleaned, I cooked, and I worked odd physical jobs under the table until my body finally said no more. She was able to stop working and won her disability case with in a year of applying. My case took six years. Even now though, I still struggle with not being able to work. It’s programmed into men’s brain to work.

Yes, the stakes were greater this time, and I agree that he needed to support his family. But I think the real reason he needed to do it was to prove that the first fight was not a fluke. This movie series gets better each time I watch it. I have seen each of them so many times, I lost count. I just love Rocky and Adrian. "Yo Adrian, I did it!" I always saw that as Rocky exclaiming that he kept his promise from the hospital. Best line in the movie. Mickey always viewed himself as a father figure to Rocky. Even though he didn't always treat him very well, for some reason he always watched him. In the first movie he tells Rocky, "you had the talent to be a contender but instead you became a leg breaker!" that showed that he cared about him.

This movie is not underrated, it's simply because of how long ago these movies came out, younger generations haven't seen these films. Nevertheless, you are right, this movie is flawless, the full range of emotions are evoked once again. We all know that the “Rocky” franchise is Sylvester Stallone’s best work but without a shadow of a doubt, the 1 thru 4 Rocky’s are his career’s “MasterPiece”; a magnificent work of art to behold as a cinematic national treasure for generations to come. If you’re ever looking to get inspired or motivated to do anything; forget about Tony Robins; put a Rocky movie on and you’ll be good to go. The Italian Stalion!

I hope you will give some of the even older movies from the decades before the 70's a chance. I can almost guarantee you will enjoy most any movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock but in particular I wish you would give the movie "Dial M for Murder" a watch. It was made in the 50's but it is in color. The story line is great and Mr. Hitchcock keeps it suspenseful. In those days there wasn't mind boggling special effects so the movies had to have a great story line and the acting had to be good. (And it was.)

That simple, beautiful and timeless "Win." by Adrian is a moment that gives me legit goosebumps every damn time 🥺 It's stuff like that which is enough to make a grown man cry. All of this combined is the REASON why the Rocky franchise has effortlessly withstood the test of time.

Interesting question. I had 7 strokes last year when I turned 62, and my wife had to go back to work. We live in a hotel and we have nothing, but I am lucky to have her taking care of me. I can't cook or do anything that I did for years, but I hope that this isn't too hard on her.

Loved the reaction, Rocky 3 is kinda the popcorn movie of the series, but really is amazing, same with four, five not so much, six, rounds it out and is fantastic, you have so much to look foward to.

Sadly, nowadays it isn’t that hard for guys to watch their wives join the workforce. My dad left home when I was two years old. We made sure my wife was a “keeper at home” so to speak, raising our four kids and often taking in/helping young women in crisis pregnancy’s until they had their babies. Rocky was right, man are supposed to provide. Whether that’s hip or not now it is God’s honest truth. When we got married in the early 80s I was a fighter and my manager new Stallone. Neck injury wrecked my boxing before my first pro fight but I still teach self-defense private lessons today. Great reaction. Thanks

People are always surprised when they see the baby with so much hair. We don't know how long Adrian was in the coma and Rocky said he would wait to see the baby with Adrian when she woke up. I can't see the hospital just letting the baby stay there months on end though waiting on Adrian.

Remember, Elizabeth, Rocky and Rocky II are love stories more than sports movies. That gets lost on a lot of audiences. Not to spoil a good scene, but there would be no double count during the match at the end. By the rules, Apollo was knocked down and had to beat the count. Rocky was not knocked down but slipped down, so he didn't have to beat the count. Yeah, that definitely spoils a great scene. I don't know what the law said in the 1970's, but hospitals cannot compel a spouse to leave a hospital room after visiting hours. There may be different rules for the ICU or if someone is being disruptive, but Rocky just wanted to see his wife. Hope that helps!!

"The things men do to provide for their familes, is commendable" - Mom. This should be carved into stone. Especially in this time of men being ridiculed, and attacked, for doing exactly that.

I don't think, that Sylvester Stallone ever boxed, but he & his brother, Frank, were into physical fitness, before it was a common hobby or habit. The movie, "Rocky" helped inspire the gym culture, as we know it today. Before "Rocky", people in general, rarely even ran across the street, after they left school or the military.

"is it a gut punch?" About supporting your family, everything is fair and you have to try it all sometimes. If your partner wants to pitch in, its one of the best relationship building things you can do as a couple. You know, both contributing to building this castle together. Just keep coming back to the center, you just gotta try that lil extra to keep the flame alive. Yeah you both tired, both working, both busy, but also both are making the dream come true and thats means so much more than all the issues you come across along the way. Keep surprising each other, loving each other, putting away that extra dish, taking out that trashbag on the way, picking up that napkin or sock... never give up.

Nice reactions to the second Rocky film, Elizabeth!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Just found your channel. Wow, mother of five! You don't here that much now a days. Stallone was a bodybuider when he was younger. Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed) was an all-around athlete and into boxing, football, gymnastics, judo, soccer, and wrestling. He seems to have a more natural boxing rhythm than Stallone's character.
