I remember once watching an interview with Sly about the scene in "Rocky" where he tells Adrian that he can't beat Apollo and that all he wants to do is go the distance. The director (I think it was) didn't want to take the extra time to do the scene or something but Sly insisted on it as it was pivotal to the story, which I believe it absolutely was. Can you imagine if they'd deleted that one?

I disagree here, and I’m sorry but felt the need to reply. Rocky loves and loved Paulie for all his faults but because he was Adrian’s brother. I guess he liked Paulie, even in the early part of the story but the connection (and even burden) he felt for Paulie was through his love for Adrian. It’s a fantastic story that the boxing mix just rode the bigger picture through... A lifelong classic epilogue that just keeps on giving and a true lesson in life and love

Listening to his story about it is truly inspiring and courageous unlike these other dipshit actors that was handed to them on a silver platter.. sly and Arnold actually worked really hard to get where they are today and one of the most recognized actors in Hollywood..

One of Rocky's iconic practices from the original film was his exuberant drinking of raw eggs. What we see in this scene is that, for this older man with less brioso, the practice is now gut churning. A comic reference back to a comic bit that was quirky and delightful.

If you’re wondering why the photo with Paulie’s face taped over Rocky’s has Apollo’s face blurred out, Carl Weathers refused to allow any images or video of him to be shown in the film because he demanded to have an actual role in the film. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was part of why this scene was cut.

Friends, I'm saddened that they omitted this scene. Actually, when we Men lose our Women, yes, we do tend to ally up and live together to re-establish some sense of normalcy, lol. Ask me how I know. Honestly, I lost both my Wife and Stepdaughter due to a divorce and my Mother the following year. Almost broke me. Cried like a baby a few times because of all the loss in my life. But, there was hope. I started hanging out with one of my best friends and life slowly became different "new normal," - ..but it hasn't been quite the same in many ways. It's just a form of human adaptation, because in life, we Do Lose the Ones We Love. It's Just One of The Many Truths' of Our Existence. But, you do have to go on, and so from what I watched, I realize the similarities of this very scene in my own life - Ten years later. -#- ;)

There is this endearing poignancy to Stallone's Balboa that one rarely sees in most movies these days. For is there another movie character as enduring, as beloved and as jauntily imitated as Rocky Balboa (Yoda?)? Gotta love the guy. In case anybody wonders about the blur around Apollo's face in the picture, turns out Carl Weathers was a bit of a douche and demanded to be given an extra role for the movie in order to allow footage of him being shown (Mr.T and Lundgren just allowed it without being bitchy about it); Stallone strongly (and correctly) denied it, as his character was dead decades ago, so no chance to have him in the movie whatsoever and that might also explain why the scene was cut out. They patched up only years later.

Those turtles are still alive as of Creed 2 (and they're the same turtles from 1976 when Stallone filmed Rocky) Apparently they live over 80 years, so they'll end up outliving Stallone most likely. I imagine they've had a very comfortable life since the first film made Stallone wealthy.

+Brokengamezone They cut it cuz of time, they cut the other scene too when he gets his new girl friend to pic up his clothes so he can leave Rocky and move in with her, and also when he asks to move back in with Rocky too cuz she snores. Didnt really add anything to the movie i guess as well. Or take away from it

Brokengamezone Paulie was living with Rocky for some time and even was living with him when he died as told in Creed when show Paulie’s things in his room when Adonis comes to stay with Rocky.

I like the eggs not staying down show’s he’s not living like a fighter anymore. First thing rocky used to do when he woke up was immediately down half a dozen eggs. He had the hunger of a fighter and a poor man. Now he’s more civilized, takes the time to feed animals before himself. Doesn’t have the hunger for raw eggs.
