8 min of pure straight theoretical stuff. Straight to the point, love it!

Honestly, I like how you go straight to the point. Not like any other instructor here on KZbin that tells you their life story before they begin to explain the topic.

You've helped me so much man...I'm getting good at using the methods, I'm just having trouble determining with method to use for a given problem. For example, If a beam problem asks to find the slope/deflection at a point, how do I know whether to use double integration or the moment area method?
@structurefree10 жыл бұрын
Priya Manmohan it depends on how much work you are willing to do. integration can be cumbersome depending on the number of functions and boundary conditions you have...personally i like the conjugate beam method.

Sir, I had a doubt in this theorem. In the case of parabola the angle between radial arcs and the anle between the tangents were not similar know sir. Then how could we decided that the two angles were same.

At 8:00, why does x become the centroid instead of just (x^2)/2 ? Is it because it's defined as the distance from the point of interest to the center of the curvature (the circle's centroid)? Thanks for the vids, haven't looked at this stuff in 5 years and I'd be lost without you man :)
@NinjaMartin Жыл бұрын
Could you explain this to me ? I didn’t quite get it :/
@NinjaMartin Жыл бұрын
The first moment of area (S_y) is defined as the sum (integral) of x dA, where x is the distance from a given axis to the centroid of element dA, right? If you divide this by the sum of areas, you get x bar (distance from this chose axis to the centroid of the whole figure one is looking at), right? So looking at our curvature diagram, what is our area? For a small area (dA), we have Height (M/EI) * width (dx), so integrating this for a chosen intervall x gives us an area. Because S_y can be written as x bar * area, we can therefore write it up as x bar * integral (M/EI) dx, which is where my confusion is at right now. Am I on the track of something? Sorry for my bad English, I am from Norway. Thank you Structurefree for this great channel!
