to get around the 6 gear limit, they maybe could have rigged the starter to go backwards maybe... you wouldn't be able to go far, but you don't really need to with reverse unlike a normal car, I think running in reverse wouldn't be as bad if you cut the fuel, and somehow stop the oil pump from going backwards too. It is starting to sound complicated, but if you needed to reverse due to an incident, not being able to would suck
