Ken Takakura is truly a legendary Japanese actor. He was stoic in his acting anyway, and rarely exposed himself to the media outside of movies and dramas because he did not want to ruin his fans' public image of him. However, his co-stars have expressed their appreciation for his humility and kindness by saying, "He gives his co-stars expensive suits and watches as gifts," "He greets all the extras with a smile instead of sitting on a chair during filming out of concern for the staff," "When he hears that a young actor he co-stars with is moving out and offers to help him with several million yen but is told no, he instead visits him on the day of his move to help him out. In a word, he is a legendary figure who embodies the Japanese image that Japanese people aspire to.

I spoke to a pioneer of American vintage casual wear who imported and sold American Levi's and other second-hand clothes in Japan and donated many vintage items to Levi's, and he told me that it was sometime before the 1970s. Takakura Ken worked as a salesman at a second-hand clothing store called "Chicago" in Dogenzaka, Shibuya, in the early days of the store, and was an authority on American military and casual wear. He loved American vintage casual wear such as McGregor swing tops, the same ones James Dean wore, and flight jackets from the US military during World War II. His personal clothing collection, which he was particular about, was centered around American vintage casual wear, and was said to be a maniacal collection of items that even those who were knowledgeable about the field would be satisfied with. He also wore clothes that he had carefully selected and prepared himself for TV and commercials. His former wife, singer Chiemi Eri, sang "Tennessee Waltz" and "Mack the Knife." Ken Takakura has the image of being an old-fashioned man who represents Japan, but surprisingly, he was a very fashionable person. Incidentally, this story is only known in Japan by the 60-year-old pioneers of the vintage clothing industry in Harajuku.

I always joke that if Dandadan ever gets a Hollywood adaptation that takes place in the USA with western actors, Okarun's real name would be something like Clint Eastwood or Gary Cooper.
@ibrahimihsan2090
@ibrahimihsan2090 2 ай бұрын
Judging by the trash that was Netflix's Death Note, it's highly likely that if they ever do make a live-action adaptation of this set in America, it's likely be more Asian themed. I mean, the supernatural stuff in this show(as opposed to sci-fi or "occult" as Ken/Okarun calls it for some reason) is mostly based on Japanese urban folklore and local traditional spirituality. So, either no American company will touch it or they'll center it around Japanese American main characters or something. Then again, even in that context, your suggestions can work due to cultural Americanization over time. Summary, I don't wanna entertain that idea. It's best to adapt something that actually works within an American context. Naoki Urasawa's Monster is right there.

※ Thanks for reacts. By the way. The hero of this anime DanDaDan, the super popular Okarun, Takakura Ken, is a super famous and super popular Japanese actor's name who passed away on November 10, 2014, at the age of 83. His line, "I'm clumsy," is super famous as a phrase that expresses the image of a rugged man that Takakura had. This month marks the 10th anniversary of his death, and many media outlets are featuring him. So this time, I would like to introduce Takakura Ken, a movie actor that Japan is proud of. Originally, Takakura's silent posture and strong eyes demonstrated their power in the Yakuza movie, and he became a star, but he quit that line about 12 years and became independent. And, he was a silent and ascetic person who strictly disciplined himself, did not drink alcohol, quit smoking, continued strength training, and lived a life of solitary spirit, showing his own unique state as a true movie star. Although he was a big star, he was a humble and polite person, and never forgot to greet all his co-stars, including the director and producer, and always stood up and bowed politely to young new actors and staff to show respect. Furthermore, even though it was just in the movie, he pray the waterfall at Chojuin (Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture) as atonement for the crime of killing so many people. Also, the appearance of the protagonist played by Takakura was also the model for Duke Togo, the protagonist of the manga "Golgo 13". He also spoke English very fluently, and spend the time his rare days off sleeping on the beach in Hawaii. But, in his about 60-years acting career, he appeared foreign films are only set in Japan, such as "Black Rain", few times. So, although many movie stars admire Takakura. But surprisingly few movie stars with whom he has relationships, and it seems that there are only three he respects: Rentaro Mikuni, Kinnosuke Yorozuya, and Kinya Kitaoji. He has also so many received dozens of awards. Also the Japan Academy Award Best Actor too, six times from 1978 to 2000. He was also elected for the Best Actor award twice after that. But, he declined both awards, saying that he wanted to give it to a younger person.
