Jay Kay and a friend of Plain Jane both said they talked and weren't going to speak about the accusations and wanted to just deescalate the way people were talking about it, but the person who made the accusation didn't rescind it and now has their account on private. Jay Kay didn't apologize to Jane at all.

@@mx.hyacinth but it is important to note that both Jay Kay and the accuser lied about the events and said Plane reached in his pants and grabbed the victims genitals when the video was posted on Twitter of quite a different story. Plane was at the crowd and turned around a patron and out a dollar bill in their back waist band. Is it completely appropriate? Not really but is it cancellable? Not at all. It’s behavior that’s common place at drag shows and among queens and if anything it’s something to critique in the culture as a whole rather than specific queens imo.

It also shouldn't be a part of drag culture, and tbh, it isn't a huge part of the Boston scene. Consent is hugely valued by most Boston performers I've interacted with, many shows literally start by going over norms of contact and consent. I don't really care about cancelling her or whatever, if people want to support her that's their business, but I don't think it's great to misrepresent what the victim has said.

Willam has to retract her statement just taking what Jay Kay said was fact. The video was released and nobody touched any genitals and it was mostly blown out of proportion. The queen immediately (the next day) apologized to the person whose butt she put her hand down. The video made it seem like the person wasn’t opposed but obviously people freeze or play along in the moment before they’re able to process violations. Jay Kay quite literally back tracked fully after the queen’s friend defended them and this shouldn’t be spread with such a large platform anymore.

The Plain Jane accusations seem to be blown out of proportion. The video clearly shows the person being touched was reciprocating. Unless there is more video, it comes off to me like someone trying to get someone canceled for attention. As soon as Plain Jane found out the person said they felt inappropriately touched she apologized profusely. I find the accusations upsetting because this is something that happens at gay spaces so often and men as getting touched inappropriately and unwarranted by other men (I have been on the receiving end a couple times and completely froze because I just didn't know how to handle it) and it just makes others not take us seriously when we come forward about it.
