Probably too late now but I suggest converting from a roll pin to a taper pin. On my lathe, built in 1965, monarch didn’t drill the oil hole through all the way. All those years no oil was able to get down to the flat ways. Even Monarch makes mistakes. Because the ways were ground .004” a shim was necessary between the top and bottom pieces. My friend Archie scraped the bottom ways that ride on the bed ways. It came out beautiful.

Would it be possible to drill holes vertically in the upper part of the tailstock from the oiling slots in the bottom surface of the upper t/s. Then tapping small npt threads in top and installing a couple of those old timey automatic drip oilers with the little on/off toggle on the top?
