The prediction for the storm being Cat 2 at landfall is an early average. It can be up to Category 4. Please thank Global Warming for the WARM temps in the Gulf.

Tropical depression, tropicl storm, hurricane, typhoon. These are ALL tropical cyclones. When a tropical cyclone reaches 75+ mph they are called Hurricanes/Typhoons/Cylones based on what basin they form in. Nevertheless they are all TROPICAL CYLONES and "Potential tropycal cyclone" is the designation the national hurricane center gives to a tropical wave that is close to land but is not a tropical cyclone yet so that they can start make forecast cones/advisories.
