I have psoriatic arthritis and I was on methotrexate, biologics, and anti-inflammatory meds as well as steroidial meds for over 9 years. I had gone from 250lbs to 350 lbs and constantly fighting infections. Just over a year and a half ago, I was told I was becoming a type 2 diabetic. I had had enough and had decided to try a mediteranean keto diet while following Thomas Delauer! My inflamation is greatly improved, and I'm off of the biologics and methotrexate. I'm now 260lbs and I really want to try carnivore. My wife thinks it will be too difficult to do and she wont be able to cook for me. I intend to try a short term week long trial of carnivore after Labor day. Wish me luck!

DR. BERRY. Today is 8-27-2024. Since you had previously said that resistant starch does not work, I did my second experiment today. A while back I tested rice out. It worked like a charm. Today, I tried eating potato salad. Being a raging diabetic for 14 years, I had not had potato salad for 14 years. Today I ate a HEFTY helping of potato salad. My blood test shows that I DO NOT NEED MY INSULIN TONIGHT. I am beyond excited ! So, that puts rice AND potato in the bag as successful on the resistant starch experiment. YEA.

I was keto for a year and dropped 50 pounds. Then lost another 20 I didn’t want to due to bad plant food intolerances (diarrhea, nausea) to plant foods. Had to go pure carnivore and gained the 20 back and regained back a lot of strength. I was down from doing sets of 10 pull ups to zero and am back now. But, I track blood sugar via finger pokes and on carnivore my blood sugar fasting after noon is 110-120 but eating plants I was in the 80s at that hour. Ketones are now higher despite the higher blood sugar. Hard to figure how beef, eggs and butter could be more glycemic than eggs, chicken, sweet potatoes, spinach, rice, etc. haven’t had wheat or cow dairy since childhood (over 40 years) due to intolerances/allergies so the transitions to keto then carnivore weren’t difficult.

My GI doc told me to pretty much do the opposite of the keto diet. My primary is on board with supporting me but doesn't know how to advise because for type 1, they say to eat small frequent meals instead of larger and less often. I know that with type 1, it is still in the air what dietary changes help and are effective for long term results.

@ravenstarver13602 ай бұрын
Generally carnivore is high fat and not actually that high in protein. I believe Ken Berry eats roughly 80% fat calories 20% protein, which really isn't a lot more protein than most diets. Some have reported better kidney function with carnivore. I think he has a video or 2 on it. If you got weight to lose it might be worth a shot... maybe you can get your doc and bloodwork done to monitor your kidney as you try it?

I started Carnivore and I have hypertension over 165/100 if I don't take Lisinopril 20 mg. Recently I did an experiment on myself. I thought that the chest tightness I always got between pills was because the Lisinopril was wearing off. But, today, instead of taking the pill, I took 1/4 teaspoon of Real Salt (about 600 mg sodium) and the chest tightness went away. The whole reason why I took the Lisinopril in the first place was because I was afraid of the chest tightness. Does it sound like I have just been salt/sodium deficient all these years? I live in Central Florida and was in construction for 17 years. I knew about the importance of salt for many years, but I never got enough to fill the gaps.

Started ketovore June 1st because I had gained 15 lbs of visceral fat and began to be considered overweight. I saw tremendous improvements over the first month. But I'm struggling right now and have been for the last month. I'm pretty sure I'm hypoglycemic from insulin resistance or I'm hyperinsulinemia or I'm type 1 diabetic w/ adult onset. Still trying to figure it out (are there any other tests then lipid, metabolic panel and a1c for detecting type 1?)... But ALL of my labs from June and July have been phenomenal levels with the exception of my ANA speckled pattern was abnormal/high. The keto diet has improved my rheumatoid arthritis and seed oils being the biggest trigger. My glucose/ketone monitor should be here today and I've started tracking my diet with a free app called cronometer. Any direction of what to do next would be helpful as my current GI isn't supportive of the keto diet and I'm still being scheduled with a dietician. Thanks for any help.

What kind of mayonnaise is ok for carnivore?
@beefbased892 ай бұрын
Unless you make it yourself with animal fat (like bacon grease), mayo isn't a carnivore food. Many carnivores, ketovores, and keto eaters will choose the best of the commercially available mayos which are free of sugar and seed oils. They are made with avocado oil. Two popular brands are Chosen and Primal Kitchen.
@carnigal48312 ай бұрын
I use Chosen avocado oil mayo. I don't use it all the time. Costco carries it. Tastes so good and there are no carbs in it. None.
@RC-tm8jo2 ай бұрын
For store bought, Sir Kensington's Avocado Oil Mayonnaise is one of the better choices and isn't as expensive as Primal Kitchen. It's not carnivore obviously with it having avocado oil, but it is much better than the cheap well known store brands.
@barkingsquirrel71662 ай бұрын
Search for recipes on KZbin for Butter Mayonnaise and Bacon Grease Mayonnaise. Easy to make and delicious. You can also make your own avocado oil or olive oil mayonnaise. If you use olive oil, choose a "light" olive oil, because extra virgin olive oil will make the mayo quite bitter. But animal fats are superior from a health point of view.

My mother currently has the same problem at her assisted living home. It makes me so sad/mad that these places chose the cheap and easy route of cooking with seed oils and offering primarily high carb foods. I have simply started cooking up things like steak, burger patties, and shrimp, and putting those in her little refrigerator to have a healthier option when only high carb foods are on the menu.

What is the difference between the Keto Chow Minerals and Electrolytes? I’ve looked at the nutritional info and it looks like the minerals have all the electrolytes plus other stuff. Do you need both?

Could just be some not so good food or meat, if it's sudden like that, and have been doing well so far.

Hey guys, I tried to join the waitlist but the form was missing on the waitlist page, so I just kind of clicked around in the dark (white screen, actually) and selected autofills and hope it submitted. I did this twice because after the first time, I blindly found an email field. I didn't receive a confirmation email, so please let me know if you got my full sign up for the waitlist (the 2nd one should be complete, though I couldn't see fields so I don't know). I hope I didn't miss the window! You guys are awesome! PS: I also signed up for the free pdf and did not receive that email either.

I use Cronometer to track my low carb lifestyle. I just noticed that eggs have sugar. My goal is under 3g of sugar per day. I don't hear anyone talking about the sugar in eggs. Anyone know why it is ignored?
