Shukran Mufti for the clear response because I had this very same question about asking to certain Pir or Khwājā Ghareeb Nawaz or asking through them to Allah etc. I was always against this anyway due to several verses in the Quran that goes against such belief but hearing it from you really put the matter to rest! As salaam alaykum Sheikh Abu Layth I have always been interested in islamic history. Looking for precedence to guide us in political life. I observed that we have had many dictators and tyrants in our history up to the present time. The main issues are 1. plurality of views being tolerated 2. Accepting coup d'état in islam where the elected chief is overthrown by the general The sunni narrative delete important historical facts and also denies us the opportunity to make a judgement by telling us not to think logically. Just accept and venerate. 1. After the death of the prophet ( peace be upon him) Abu Bakr was elected Caliph after much deliberation. Ali was not there. After being presented with the fait accompli, he did not give bayât to Abu Bakr straight away. He had a different view. It took him 40 days to think about it and finally he gave bayât. --- Plurality of views. No coercion. 2. Ali was elected 4th Caliph. The general Muawiyah made a coup d'état. He again made a coup d'état when Hassan was Caliph forcing him to give up his position. now if we condone these actions or try to rationalise them, we encourage coup d'état and hence set up a precedence. This would partly explain our sorry state of affairs. No guidance about what is right or wrong. Even if we cannot stop these people , we should not give them moral justifications. Some people say that Muawiya was a great general and did this and that. To this argument, I would like to point out that Omar remove Khalid inn walid from command for this very reason. People was starting to believe that Khalid only can win them battles and not rely on God. No one is too important and the source of all success is God. I would be grateful for your opinion on these concepts and look for ideas that would help us think straight .

In my understanding the real message that muhammad was sharing was about human value, love ,and equal right for all human being , reason why many people became attracted to his way of life , which have now led all of us to embrace the religion of islam . What happen between his companions are real facts . The only difference is how it happen therefore to be stuck between sects would not be following the way of muhammad . I believe if muhammad were to come right now he will not remember anything that he's ways was about . Let's embrace each other and let's love guide us instead of prejudices that we hold in our heart , reason why if you listen to someone speaking without your prejudices just be open you will learn something from anyone without judging their understanding . Would you then say that the islamic political theory should not boil down to obey anyone arbitrarily in authority rather create either a democracy or theocracy where social affairs can be governed by rational thought alongside shariah but also allowed to be plural even in Majority Muslim countries due to equality of rights and freedoms but a just and fair opportunity for all

Considering the fact that this hadith is context specific, ie in the UK, since men wear earrings, necklaces (chains), and bracelets regularly, this wouldn't be imitating women. And please, don't try to apply rulings from a singular narration without understanding the hadith, or the person you're trying to impose it upon. Mufti is well aware of this hadith, and you should be asking him for a ruling on the matter - not the other way around lol
