#HappyMrMondays Without getting into specifics to avoid spoilers, one of the main complaints I've seen about DT's story is that the WOL takes more of a supporting role and one of the claimants (you know the one) is closer to being the main character. Assuming you've started it by the time you see this, what's your take on the story so far? Or, if you haven't started yet, what's your take on the concept of the WOL playing a secondary role in an expansion? Personally I think it's a refreshing change of pace to not have the weight of the world on our shoulders and SE has been pretty forthcoming on the fact that this was going to be a less grand adventure than previous expansions. It admittedly drags early on, but I found myself fully invested by about halfway through. I wouldn't want it to be a reoccurring thing multiple expansions in a row, but in moderation, it can be a good thing imo. Feels like everyone just wants each expansion to be Shadowbringers again

I think I read somewhere comparing WoW's PC to FF's PC in that WoW's is like an actual person, called champion, yadayada. Where as the WoL is more like a weapon the Scions point at a problem to solve. Putting us in a secondary role kinda fleshes us out as we can voice opinions instead of being told to do something. I may have interpreted it wrong, but I kinda dig being a supporting role

I feel like this is the case for most expansions besides maybe shadowbringers and endwalker, alphi takes that role a ton in this game for most of them then lyse it's just hard to write a character driver narrative with a silent protagonist which is most of the expansions, I think this one is just more noticeable because we are supporting her goal at the start rather than sharing the same goal if that makes sense

I think that it only makes sense for our character to take the mantle of mentor/supporter at some point, so this expansion is as good a time as any. I would even say it works better than SB. My gripe however, is with the claimant that we support. She feels so hollow, and I feel like at least two (at the point that I am rn) of the other claimants have a better evolution/story, with one of them making more sense as the successor. But I'm only half-way through, so the characters still have time to evolve.

#MrHappyMondays Goooooood Morning! No spoilers, promise! But after completing the MSQ, one thing that stood out to me most was the quest design. Even if the story is good, great, or excellent, and the cutscenes are well directed, the way we go about advancing those quests seems to be aging like milk in the sun. Effectively, the quests seem to exist to shuffle us from one well told part of the story to the next, and involve less and less gameplay as the story gets longer and more detailed. The dungeons and encounters have never been better in Dawntrail. Do you think they'll ever address the moment to moment gameplay in the quests in the future as well? Is this something you notice or hope for playing yourself? It's one final sore spot I'd personally love to see ironed out. Have a good day!

I leveled Paladin and Reaper simultaneously through MSQ with daily roulettes and never got level gated.

Same! Did PLD through MSQ and SGE strictly through roulettes (and the two WT turn-ins). Once PLD was maxed from MSQ quests, switched to SGE and had to run a single 97 dungeon to be able to continue MSQ with it.

I had to run some FATES now and then to take my RDM through MSQ while running through the dungeons and trials (and rolos) with SCH, but honestly most of that was done whilst also hunting aether currents

I don't really have a question, but as a healer main, going into Dawntrail with all naysayers about not enough for healers to do... this expansion has been AWESOME, I'm always busy going through my full healing tool kit and i love it, I think if the folks in the healstrike actually played and experienced the expansion so far they'd prolly enjoy it too. Bonus: I don't know if you've experienced it yet, but in the expert dungeons they have a few big pulls that actually do roomwide damage which is really neat, makes them feel much more interesting.

#MrHappyMondays I've noticed that with the job changes in Dawntrail, the low level experience for more than a few jobs is still pretty bad, if not even worse. I get that the number 1 priority is ensuring the jobs function at level cap, but it doesn't change the fact that most non-sprouts still do roulettes that do sync down their levels, it's not just the sprouts and free trials that are hurting. Your thoughts on the matter? Will SE ever address this? i.e. WHM is a poor teacher for using ogcd heals because its first one is Benediction with a 3 min cd, DRG has serious Life Surge misalignment with its 4-hit rotation in HW levels, PLD doesn't get a gap closer until SHB, BLM doesn't get Umbral Soul until lvl 76 (though this is already about to be addressed), WHM and AST still have their noob trap traits for Cure/Benefic, etc.

Hello Mr. Happy. This isn't a question and you kind of touched on it before but I can indeed confirm how Tempera Coat works on PIctomancer now. You can either take the personal 20% shield that lowers the cooldown by 60 seconds OR change it to a raid-wide shield of 10% that only lowers the cooldown by 30 seconds. I would personally love for this aoe shield to also lower the cooldown by 60 seconds if yours breaks but I can understand how that might be a bit TOO strong but I really love abilities like this that really make you think about how best to use them for different situations.

#mrhappymondays Hello. I have two quick questions #1 I have a question about the setting “Display Flying Text.” This “flying text” shows all damage you’re dealing / taking. My question is… is there a way to display one but not the other? I’d like to hide damage I’m dealing and only display the damage I’m taking. I was told this was possible but haven't been able to figure out how. #2 How good do you think our prospects are for getting another tank or healer?

I'm also wondering if it affects the permanent DoT we get from EX1. Trying to figure out of It's worth using mitigation there or not.

While it is early what do you think your biggest complaint about Endwalker was (whether story or post story content) and do you believe it has been resolved to an extent. Do you believe we are in for another stat squish in the 7.0 or 8.0 patches or expansion?

#MrHappyMondays Hello again Mr. Happy. I hope week two of Dawntrail's launch is treating you well. I guess I overestimated how quickly you'd be leveling jobs last week given that you blazed through the story first to get to the raiding content and I've barely touched the story as of writing this and have instead just been enjoying playing the new jobs. All that is to say that I still would like to hear your more in depth thoughts about the new jobs. I've now leveled both Pictomancer AND Viper and I've gotta say that I kind of love them both. Pictomancer feels like what I always wanted Black Mage to be for me which is a job that hits really hard and needs a bit of thought put in to getting the most out of it but that also isn't just casting the same big spell over and over and over again (coughfireivcough). Viper, by comparison, is the simple melee job I've apparently always wanted as it scratches the same itch as Reaper BUT it feels more fun to play with how fast it is with all of it's OGCDs all the freakin time. Really, my only complaint about either job is that I REALLY feel the loss of a good personal defensive ability on Viper as Arcane Crest gave me a good amount of survivability on Reaper that I just don't have on Viper.

#mrhappymondays Hi happy! With the latest patch them changing the jobs I have a question that may seem stupid. Why do we still have positions? What’s the point most extreme trials or bosses? Do not have the ability to be at the rear or flank or position for extreme fights if so, why punish regular players? I tried really hard to play Monk before and felt like I was letting people down because my DPS was so low because of the positional thing.

I wanted to play it on Xbox, but on Friday morning, after it kept freezing after every cutscene, I had enough and switched to my Mac (which suffered massive lag), then to the PS5. I couldn’t play my PC version because the charger for my laptop fried itself Thursday night, lol. Mac works fine for me now, probably just lagged a lot due to the number of players that morning. Still waiting for the Xbox to get fixed. Yet, I can’t help but be upset with SE, as if they actually did Q/A properly for the Xbox version, they would’ve noticed this issue. But, on the plus side ... they fixed that crappy random ??? censorship in the xbox version.

Rejoice!... the problem being that I hadn't yet hit level cap when I picked up the book and so apparently I don't have access to the Gold Certificate, I've since hit 100 on 4 Jobs and the book has not updated to reflect this. Do I just have to eat shit and accept that I'm going to have to settle for MGP (which itself is not too bad) or is there a workaround for this? TIA

#morningswithtealeavesandcoffeewithmrhappy Early warning it's long but tldr I think we need a huge economy change for trials raids and alliance raids and their rewards. Good day or night to you Mr Happy. How does your day go? Alright, this is gonna be a weird one but... I think we need an overhaul to the economy when it comes to trials, raids and alliance raids. Alright here me out beforehand. With trials there is 21 jobs in Dawntrail which means if you have the most dog .... well you can bleep it out but for lack of a better word shit you would need to run a trial 309 times to get all the weapons and the mount. I think we can lower the amount of tokens for either now. For alliance raids it needs to stop using older alliance coins to upgrade new gear. For example in .3 to .5 you would need to do all three raids to upgrade one item. Why? Just use the current alliance raid token for the current gear. Speaking of the older alliance raid tokens and raid tokens, let's have a trader or merchant who will take the older tokens in exchange for allagan tomestones of poetics. With this we can then put older raid and alliance raid gear into the trader or merchant for glam purposes. This way we have a purpose for those tokens and coins because as of now what do you do with them?

And a hearty meow-dy to the cats :) (for reference: I main DNC, so I'm usually playing whack-a-mole with the shiny buttons until my 2min is up - not trying to prog savage on anything, just trying to garner a basic understanding of the new classes) I played the intro for both Picto and Viper. I found Picto to be much more intuitive. Going through the viper tutorial, I got the feeling that there are abilities that chain like the NIN mudras - like the combos that start with Steel Fangs/Dread Fangs. 1-1-2 hits differently than 1-2-2, etc. Do you think turning off the button consolidation so that I can see the actual progression would help? Like rolling down Hard Slash/Syphon/Souleater (2-3-4) as the basic combo on DRK...

Good tip for raiding, get to prog point in 3-4 tries. If you are not progressing in 3-4 wipes, you might need to find a new pug group.

My understanding is that he thinks the strike is silly - not the issues on why people are striking. Now I do agree his way of addressing it was quite dismissive and rude. He’s never been a tactful guy. But i can appreciate his content for other reasons.
