Mondeo ST Wheels Get Powder Coated!

Something ive wanted to to for ages.. i finally get those hideous black wheels powder coated! Enjoy :)

Altough im the maniac who wouldve take apart the calipers to give em a sandblast and powder coat, have to tell you they came out over my expectations. And those wheels...boy they look good. This car looks a million times better now.

Dion Lewis prices vary, I’d do it yourself unless the car still holds good value, ive been quoted £150-£200 and arch in the past

They did a excellent job on powder coating the wheels! To be honest, black painted rims doesn’t look right on the car at all but going back to silver looks so much better especially the callipers painted red!!😍

I watched your part 1 last night as I have a Fiesta ST where someone has done exactly the same quality of black paint job as you had on your mondeo, which are also chipped and peeling now. I was also looking into sand blaster/powder coated by pros or doing it myself and this has helped me decide not doing them myself is the way to go. Been subscribed for a few months and really liking your channel, well done! (label on the foam bottle says it contains wax. Also a recommendation try Turtle Wax hydrosealant spray. Last about two to three months, polish first then use that to spray on immediately wipe off. I apply two coats. The shine, beading and finish is incredible, can be used on windows, wheels too)

100% better now, really sets the car off. Silver was definitely the way to go rather than change to something different. I might be painting my callipers at some point but I will do them black seeing as the car is a Sea Grey Titanium. Well done and well worth the wait.

Very nice!! Having the wheels powder coated is so much better than what you did to wheels in a pervious video. The powder coated wheels came out beautifully, as did the red calipers. Well done👍. Here in Northern California, the trend seems to be black or dark blue or grey body color with black wheels. My new Ford Edge ST came with beautiful 21” black wheels - my favorite, but to each his own. Cheers.

The mondeo looks so much better now compared to when you first got it. Reckon you should bite the bullet and get a bodyshop to sort out some of the paintwork. Painting the front bumper would make a massive difference.

Good advice on the respirator with the brake dust years ago they contained asbestos but even now you don’t want to breathe any dust of any sort in your system

Great choice of colour james.i tried a similar blue on my mondeo mk4. (silver car)looks ok but red is better. Good choice on wheel colour, sometimes looking standard looks the best. Your mondeo is looking so much better now.

Do you guys get the New Mustang GT? It has a Flatplane V-8. Means that the cylinders Fire one side to the other and back. No weird firing like a regular 90° crank that fires twice on one side during crank cycle. Why it has a Weird exhaust note!

I like the early BMW Minis and think that the Mk3 Mondeo is massively underrated, especially the ST. BA Wheels... I've had positive experiences from them. I took my E39 M5 wheels there and asked for the original finish. They were honest enough to say that they couldn't do Shadow Chrome and suggested Lepson's in Surrey, who did a great job. However, BA Wheels DID do one of my E60 wheels some years ago and I'll take them there again.

Really enjoyed this Mondeo playlist. I started watching the Fiesta ZS but I do really like MK3 ST Mondeo’s. Silver wheels look so much better than the black. The STTDCI is a car I’ve always wanted but I’m put off by the injector issues. Looking forward to more content though 🤙🏻

Don't forget to do the rotors, top and center, where pads don't ride. And clean, paint the wheel wells! Nasty.

Keep an eye on your wheel nuts for a week or two. They can back off a bit due to the powdercoat. Look well.

Superb job James. The wheels look fantastic on the Mondeo and red callipers are great contrast. Def agree that the shade of blue wasn’t right. Just for your own info ..... your local paint shop can often create a high temp paint that matches the paint code of your car should you ever want to ! Looking forward to next video ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wheels look great, the car has come along way since you first bought it. With how much time, effort & money you have put into the ST think it's now time to deal with the rust on the arches. Then once that's done, you can sort the paint out as some low life ran there key down the side. Then you will own a very nice tidy ST that you can be proud of. I understand it comes down to time & money, so not being negative just think the car & you deserve to have the rust & paint sorted!

Why not tape off spokes top, or flat side and paint remainder with Black Chrome? Look kind of plain. Try Po15! To paint calipers, with a brush! Color your choice! Can even do spokes on wheels, after tape off. That way it will all match. 15 pounds brake cleaner, rot!

I'd get the colour code for the paint so if your buy some new centre caps you'll be able to match the paint. Probably already been said but wrap some tape around your wheel brace to prevent scratching, Someone said to me that in winter you can give the wheels a dust over with WD40 to help protect from road salt ect, never tried it myself so i can't comment if it helps. Red calipers suit the blue car better than blue calipers ever could !

Polish the alloys inside and out several layers and seal it, will stay mint for ages and protect the hard work making them like new :) especially with the fresh rust particles thats going to come off the discs since being laid up.

Loving the new finish on the wheels, I've never been a fan of black for wheels. To me it makes the wheel arch look kind of empty. I like the blue caliper paint, but I think you're right that it wouldn't suit the car. Maybe on a black or silver car...? For me, red is a bit lairy. Maybe silver.. One thought - as you were going to buy some more paint anyway, would it have been worth buying some black and trying to mix it with the blue to get closer to the car colour? Whatever you do, you'll always get some loving it and some hating it... :)
