James, it is good to see you uploading again. The weather we've been having does discourage you. Getting back into it is a good way of getting your "mojo" back. A bit of a bummer with the EGR valve. This is typical of the problems you encounter when you're trying to return a car back to stock following some awful mods. Keep up the good work.

if the engine could talk, it would thank you for removing the egr. it literally clogs up the intake and displaces clean oxygen for dirty unburnt exhaust gasses. pretty much like farting in a bag and breathing from that same bag😂

Best thing blank out EGR and do a ECU delete of it. Remap is needed with ECU flash. Did it to my 320d drives like a dream. Cost £180 but well worth it.

I've Mondeo MK3 2.0 2006, i really enjoy while watching you and your car. And same time it makes me sad because of cant find any of visual or some engine parts in my country. Plus they re so so expensive to get. Exmp. the most basic one is rear end reflector some small plastic but its very espensive to get. Its like 120 unit money. and this is the only reflector part, not with the socket. Am checking everyday for parts, hope to find some used or cheap ones but no luck. Keep work on this beauty. You can keep your Blank in place and just tie up the her valve out of the way. The pcm is only throwing up faults as it not receiving data from egr valve. Try and see, I've done it with a few engines and no problem. Hope it helps.

Thanks for these videos man. I am just getting into cars and doing all of the work myself. I find your videos the most accessible and inspire me to work on my own car. You are a unique KZbinr. You aren't out here rebuilding a wrecked WRX that the majority of us watching wouldn't even be able to afford a wrecked one, let alone the investment for the repair, and the convenient access to a lift etc. You are on your front drive, just like me, you are using accessible tools just like me you are FAR more relatable than the majority of content on here. Your videos are perfect for people like me who are working on similar cars to you. Your projects are accessible and realistic. I appreciate you and your channel. That being said, burnout is real and if you did need to take a break I am sure there would be an audience for your return if you so wished it. The de-cat will pass the MOT no problem on a diesel. Exhaust is not monitored on a diesel engine (certainly of this era) the way it is on a petrol engine. Diesels have a temperature sensor in the exhaust usually just downstream of the turbo charger which can be used to adjust the amount of EGR required. As diesels are smoke tested, deleting the catalytic converter is not going to affect an MOT. Catalytic converters on diesels are there to reduce the CO and CO2 emissions and help with odor control. As diesels are smoke tested, these emissions can't be assessed on a diesel at an MOT. EGR deletion usually puts the EML light on the dashboard. If this isn't illuminated but there are DTC's stored in the ECU then that suggests there is a remap present on the car. Make sure when you get the pipe, that you have got the necessary EGR cooler - should one have been fitted as standard..

Nice video again. If you want to leave the blank plug in the exhaust side blank in so you get the bonus of egr blank bit no codes and you could get a piece of ali pipe and put the burr pipe in the boost hose so you can keep your boost gauge

Hey I’m not sure if anyone’s knows or not but Halfords have a big 20% sale on hand tools at the moment. I just got a full set of 1/2” impact sockets for my Impact wrench for £36, and wow it made a big difference to what my impact wrench can undo 😂. They are Chrome Molybdenum so definitely worth the money compared to cheaper Chrome Vanadium impact sockets. Plus life time warranty, no questions asked.

Im verry happy that you are working on mondeo! Mine just come back from service, have problems with poor running on low rpm after about minute from start (after re-start works good for minute and then become bad) No fault codes, nothig that is obvious problem. Mondy had been in authorized service, changed EGR, chaged MAF, changed throtle pedal and valve, changed some wiring and nothing... Still no fault code and bad running.

Decat doesn't throw codes because there is a spacer you can get to keep the sensor tricking the computer into thinking the cat is still there. EGR throws a code until it gets mapped out, if I recall some Euro 4 Mondeo's didn't throw codes for missing EGR Had two of these Mondeo's and they are brilliant cars, miss mine!

There are no sensors in the exhaust to recognise the cat/decat. You will fail the mot for the cat being missing though. The cat doesn't affect the emissions on the diesel test but it will fail a visual if its not there.

After you pass emission you can put a peach of metal plate betwen the egr pipe and the egr itself and it would still work

Just out of interest, wouldn't the EGR and it's various bolted connections need gaskets? Genuine question as the surfaces looked a bit rough and might not make a good seal which I would imagine isn't good when it comes to exhaust gasses..

Just thought I would give you a heads up in regards to the decat, the eml won't come on for the decat due to there being no lambda/02 sensors anywhere on the exhausts for these things 😁 when it comes to mot time as long as the car hasn't been physically altered/straight pipe in place of cat it should go straight through as the emmisions aren't really affected by the cat (x4 mondeo diesels been through mot with no cat on) if you have a empty cat shell that hasn't been cut open your laughing and saved a job right there

The reason why the CAT isn't coming up on fault is there's no sensors at all around the CAT, however not sure why you want to put it back on as diesels are only smoke tested, you'll have to have a massive boost leak to fail.

As an mot tester it will fail with a visual decat pipe I suggest you 0ut a sports cat on it done it to my mk2 focus st made a world of difference mate

Have you tried just blanking off the exhaust inlet valve on the EGR itself? Might be enough to fool it into thinking the EGR is working correctly.

Electronically controlled so has to be mapped out the ones before 2004 were vacuum fed and didn't throw a light up.

Seems to me that it would be easier to leave the egr valve in place and just put a blanking plate in the joint to the exhaust pipe than to remove it like that.
