Thanks Ed. Much appreciated. I can’t think of any answers to anything right now….😅, two days before I leave for Uvita. Love the outtakes. You can only hope your neighbours are subscribers. 😂

@@CostaRicaStory Thanks buddy. ☕️ I know the coffee will be as good as you’ve described. I want to go up to that local Soda you go to for breakfast too. 😋 My anxiety is to the Moon right now.

My favourite bill was the 50 mil bill with the Blue Morpho but I guess I need to find a new one now! I think I have to also go with the 5 mil bill because who doesn't love Monkeys?! As a Canadian, I have found it fairly easy to figure out the exchange as our rates are always roughly double the number on the bill. So $1 mil is roughly the same as $2 Canadian, $5 (mil) bill is roughly equivalent to $10 Canadian and the $10 (mil) is roughly equivalent to $20 Canadian etc. Thank you for this video refresher on the beautiful colones!

As much as I love monkeys, I have to agree with you that the Morpho bill was the most beautiful of all the bills, hands down. I am sorry I never saw one in person.

@@CostaRicaStory I have one in my collection, picked it up at the bank last year in San Jose before coming back to the states. Banks might still have a couple in the vaults.

This is such a nice currency. Beautiful and amazing prints on them. Observed the same with the namibian money. All kinds of animals on these. Simply beautiful. Thanks Ed for showing us! And...white-tailed deers inhabit Costa Rica 😄🤜🤛👍

And did you notice even scorpions were represented on one of the bills?

Should i exchange at a bank in costa rica? I cant find a place in the US
@CostaRicaStory2 жыл бұрын
I personally have never exchanged US currency for colones directly, I use my debit card that has no ATM fees or international fees and get my cash from an ATM here in Costa Rica. When I knew I was moving here I set up a Charles Schwab checking account and that it what many people who move from the USA use here . Most places here do accept US currency $20 or lower, and they will probably give you change in colones, but at a rate that most likely wont be the best. I think a bank in Costa Rica is the best bet if you have to directly exchange bills for bills, you can do it at some airports or hotels, but the rates will probably be better at a CR bank. Still the ATM with my debit card is all i ever use to get my Costa Rican currency. Also make sure the us bills are in perfect condition, many places will not take US currency with the slightest defect.

Ok, great explanation. If i understand correctly, the singular is spelled “Colón” and the plural is Colónes.” My question is about your pronunciation as “Colóne” as singular. Is that the local pronunciation?
@CostaRicaStory2 жыл бұрын
I am not really sure if I am using the proper pronunciation for that, I have made a habit of mangling pronunciations since i arrived here😅
@minor252 жыл бұрын
Dennis booth. His pronunciation is wrong. The right pronunciation is without the "e" at the end.
