He was a monster coming up the ranks and up to welterweight. He totally slowed down and took it easier with taking fighters after his payday with Oscar De La Hoya, which I argue is where he stopped being the offensive AND defensive wizard he was. After 2007 he fought at a heavier weight, he fought more defensively and slower and picked more shots and picked less risky fights. Still respectable champions but not the absolute biggest names everyone wanted him to fight. But none-the-less he was an absolute prodigy with near-reflexive levels of Pernell Whitaker but with a much more full-proof and polished, crafty, disciplined and classical American boxing style that he could fall back on into his older years. Also was a clean and driven fighter outside the ring with no partying/drugs/alcohol in his system. That is a great part of his career aspiring, future superstars should absolutely model themselves after. He’s still my favorite fighter to go and time rewatch. Just the way he moves and defends and punches. Just so much style and excellence and perfection. Unlike other defensive genius’ like Rigondeaux, May’s offense and counters were so cleanly executed and shot in in the pocket rather than dancing only on the outside like the Cuban boxers do. I’m all about the entertaining back-and-forth’s now and don’t focus on technical or defensive genius’ anymore. But whenever I want some high-brow, fine-wine boxing I’ll put his footage from even the ‘96 Olympics on, or maybe some James Toney, Jersey Joe Walcott on to sit back and watch good ass boxing.

I used to be one of those casuals, die-hard hating on Floyd at some point I wished Pacquiao touched gloves and kill him in the ring between 2009-2015. Crazy how I am now a big fan of both fighters and no longer a casual fan. FMJ as amazing as it sounds had two professional careers which both were successful, as Pretty Boy Floyd and Money Mayweather. To me, Money is the one to be looked at, he showed that boxing is above all else about smarts, that you don't have to be as crazy talented as Pacquiao or as great as a body snatcher as Ricky Hatton to be at the top.

no, that belongs to a man you’d fear in real life. ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson is the true GOAT, not this impostor who ducks fights and constantly runs away in the ring 🤷‍♀️.

Tyson was like a canon and Ali was like a wall! I said Ali cause he moved like a lightweight in the ring, against heavyweights. That's quite impressive actually. As a somewhat tryhard boxer myself, I find it hard to move like that

No, that belongs to Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson and Larry Holmes. Floyd Mayweather has boxing DNA in his family as his father and his uncles Roger and Jeff Mayweather became fighters in their own right. I was never ever a fan of Floyd Mayweather, but he wasn’t an exciting fighter either. He was alright, so he was no Muhammad Ali or a Mike Tyson type of fighter. The Mayweather family had a lot of problems, but I hope they would make peace with each other.
