Mongolians eat aaruul and milk products during the summer. We dont really eat that much meat often. In the city Ulaanbaatar we buy our meat and cook it. But in countryside most of our people kill and eat our animals less

I went to Mongolia five years ago. While I did not get to experience boodog, I did get to taste other Mongolian foods and see some historic sites. One nomad family that I visited boiled a goat head for my visit, and another nomad family served camel stew and milk tea. Fascinating country, lovely people. I would love to visit again some day.

I had the privilege of serving alongside Mongolian army in Afghanistan in 2012, they were part of the NATO alliance I was part of US National Guard. This dish is really ancient, I think might be since the days of Ghangis Khan . Mongolian really famous for their goat meat and their horse milk wine. Horse milk is called kimiz. It's Turkic drink. you can find it in Kazakhstan today. Kipchak Turks drink that more than Oghuz Turks. Probably you can order it online too

Great experience! He is very strong to blow air and fill up that goat balloon. Been there too, before and had semi boodog too but we used a closed sealed vessel and fill that with meat, vegetables and very red hot stones and shake the sealed vessel to mix the hot stones around. Being in Mongolia and living there was the best part of my life.

You can cook it at home you know. Get some stone from river. Get a metal slow cooker (5L min) and heat the stone on charcoal/wood then just layer the meat, stone and end with veg on top and seal the container and cook on the remaining charcoal heat for another 1-2 hours on gentle heat. This method is called khorkhog.

Wonderful! Growing in 1960-70s Georgia as boys my brothers and I fished and hunted the areas next to the Flint River at Lake Blackshear. It is the historical site if Fort Early that was built to ward off the enemy from coming down the Flint River
